Ian Buxton's Bat
Really decent bloke. Knows what he’s doing. Gets results. Football isn’t easy on the eye. To almost quote Meatloaf….3 out 4 ain’t bad. Deserves a lot a credit as well for juggling all the injuries. Caerphilly Ram, David Graham Brown, Rammy03 and 6 others 8

ck-
“Not renaming the road between Derby and Nottingham” Fair enough. But the M1 between Derby and Rotherham can now be the “Paul Warne Way”. May Contain Nuts, Derby4Me, NottsRam77 and 9 others 1 3
i-Ram
Nice bloke clearly. Great interview. Excellent achievement gaining promotion. He clearly deserves the opportunity to take us forward next season. But his football approach still leaves me cold. I wasn’t aware but the Sky Comms said today that the players get a day off for scoring at a set piece. Sounds like a nice bit of man management, but it reinforces my belief that he is too focussed on set piece success and having fit scrappers prepared to win their share of second balls, than having a team that might play some decent football. Don’t give them days off - try getting them to pass to each other in tight situations. As I posted on the matchday thread, we looked very ordinary today. I actually said woeful at HT, but fortunately we did raise it a little second half. Delighted of course to be back in the Champ, and really pleased for Clowes. Interestingly, though that under mac 2 , clement and cocu we had a team that could pass a ball but not scrap and do the ugly side of the game and quarters moaned about that. we all want the uropia of a side that plays nice or attacking football and can still do the ugly stuff. maybe finally with a window thats unrestricted and un embargoed we will be able to hit a sweeter note nick_d, jono, David Graham Brown and 10 others 7
hintonsboots
PG Wodehouse from the directors box. Ah, what ho! A jolly sight indeed unfolded at the hallowed grounds of Pride Park this fine day! One could scarce imagine a scene more befitting of the grandeur and splendor of a Gatsby-esque soiree, with fans cascading into the stadium like confetti, filling it to the rafters with their boundless enthusiasm. And lo, amidst the throng stood towering figures of Derby lore, Igor Stimac and Roy McFarland, resplendent as generals at the side of David Clowes, the club’s saviour, who basked in the adulation of the faithful like Caesar himself, hailed by the masses for his Herculean efforts in saving and guiding the club to the dizzying heights of the Championship! On the verdant pitch, a veritable symphony of skill and finesse unfolded before our very eyes. A laser-focused strike from the departing Bird, akin to the graceful brushstroke of a master painter, found its mark with unerring precision, while Collins, with the poise and elegance of a seasoned virtuoso, seized upon a knockdown from the indomitable Bradley, who ascended into the heavens like a tattooed Rudolph Nureyev, his every movement a testament to the divine artistry of the beautiful game. As the final whistle echoed across the grounds, heralding the sweet symphony of victory, a jubilant frenzy ensued, with fans spilling onto the pitch in a glorious display of unbridled exuberance. Oh, to behold such a spectacle would surely have left even the most stoic of gentlemen in a state of rapturous delight! And amidst the joyous tumult, Adams, Sibley, and Cashin, lifted high upon the shoulders of adoring supporters, stood as titans amongst men, their names destined to be etched into the annals of footballing legend. Truly, it was a day of unparalleled magnificence, orchestrated with masterful finesse by the bobble-hatted maestro and his esteemed comrades-in-arms. In the grand tapestry of sporting triumphs, this day shall forevermore be remembered as a shining beacon of glory for the illustrious Rams of Derbyshire! Rample
Maybe I'm soft but I just can't help liking the man. Whilst it might sound like nonsence and hyperbole in interviews he has been very honest. He talks building a group of players, he talks about making small gains, and he has done those things. The football hasn't always been great, but you can see why he's a league one promotion specialist. He's managed 92 points and automatic with a squad of freebies, gambles and inherited players. What he's never had at Rotherham is any financial backing, you can guarantee they would lose their best couple of players after each season which is the main cause of their yoyoing. That won't be the case here (or if it is it won't be a case of losing them because they can't afford to improve their contract or £500k is too much to turn down). I think afforded a bit of time, and next season will not be easy, he will continue building successfully to the extent I would expect us to be back around the play offs in maybe 3 years. A spine is being formed, let's imagine an equivalent midfield pairing to Nelson and Cash, an attacking midfielder in front of them with more knowledge of the position, movement and goals, and a striker in the mould of Collins but with more technical attributes and pace. Around that you have a number of gifted attacking players - NML free to be NML, hopefully a fit and firing CBT on the other side, varied attacking options and the football you play changes because of the increased options of passes and openings, and easy shifts from 352 to 442 to 433 because we have the required players. In the meantime set piece goals and ugly wins will do, but I do believe there will be evolution as we progress. Really looking forward to summer and some good deals to be had. TaahnRam
Great guy, haven't been totally convinced by his management at times but he's got the job done. Is he the right man the take us forward in the championship? Who knows. Quite frankly, at this moment I couldn't care less. Just enjoy everyone COYR. ramsbottom
Right at this very second, I couldn’t give a flying f*** whether people like Paul Warne as a man or a manager, I don’t care whether you think his brand of football leave you cold, or you think he concentrates too much on the opposition, or that he’s too jokey in his interviews. All I care about is that today, him & his staff helped provide me & my lad with memories we will never forget, that were able to share as father & son, that I will happily take to my grave. Thank you Paul. Thank you TaahnRam, Steve How Hard?, Wsm-ram and 17 others 7 7

TheTinMan
I have a hunch we might be better suited to the Championship and the better quality opposition. We don't under Warne look like breaking down sides we're expected to dominate and today was no exception. What we have done well by and large is be competitive against the better sides in this league. Its not pretty, its not really how I want us to play but if it gets results its a results business not an art gallery. I'm fascinated to see how things play out next season. I feel/hope the style and control can come with better players and he will adjust. I do find the City-style, backheels in your own box, way of playing pretty ridiculous and feel a solid defensive team can have success. I haven't seen much of the Championship this season, but speaking to a QPR mate, sounds like plenty of teams are trying to be like Pep. We clearly need to bring in some better players, but also feel we have plenty of players who will be decend Championship starters and subs players..Wildsmith, Cashin, Nelson, Sibley, Nyambe, Thompson, NML, CBT, Smith, Wilson, Forsyth. Hopefully Adams and probably some I've forgotten. Comrade 86
TheTinMan
We need a lot more going forwards. We know we've lost Bird already and on everything we know most of the strikers we have aren't the answer. We'll do well to get a full season out of Nat again too. I dont see enough goals in the side currently to do anything other than survive narrowly (or go down) jimtastic56
