I'm still hopeful that we can get this done. I don't think I can stand another game with a toothless front line. We can have as much of the ball as we like but without anyone to put it in the net, what's the point?

By the time the striker signs and Ibe gets fit we could be so far off top 2, even top 6 the season could end up being a bit of a non-entity.

One year, just one, I hope we manage to get our signings in before the 1st game of the season, get them familiar with the tactics and crack on.

I'll have a word with the powers that be and make sure next season there's no global pandemic, no recession, no transfer embargo, no messing about changing managers between campaigns and all players are fully fit and willing to sign with us as soon as we show an interest. Not sure if I'll be able to get selling clubs to do their business early as well so it doesn't hold up our plans, but I'll see what favours I can pull in.

That's next season

4 year plan

Year One - Get rid of the dead wood, start blooding the youngsters

Year Two - Start assembling the squad and get everyone used the the playing style

Year Three - Playoffs

Year Four - If Year Three unsuccessful then win the league, if Year Three successful stay in the PL

That explains 1 year.

Any explanation for the rest?

Unfortunately I'm talking about the future mate. Pretty sure there's going to be more COVID disruption happening. That'll mean fixture and date changes are possible, plus the economy really struggling and teams outside of the Premier League really struggling to keep afloat.

I also reckon the EFL will pull out all the stops to scupper any plans we have after the tribunal result and the way fans are talking about hiring and firing managers, I don't doubt that the Lampard scenario could easily play out again.

Just opinions though innit, and although it looks kinda dark, it was all said tongue in cheek.

I think there are good reasons (I don't want to use the word 'excuses') for where we are right now. Fans have every right to be upset and worried about the current situation though. I'd love a smooth transfer window and be able to assemble the right squad at the right time for the right money, but pobody's nerfect...

Depends on the EFL leaving us alone and picking on somebody else

Yes this past year, 2 ot maybe even 3, the EFL have dug their claws in and made things difficult.

That on top of someone ordering a dodgy Bat Tikka in China and things look bleak.

Feels like a Year One Groundhog Day has been happening for the last 15+ years

Yeh - But we keep having to start from Year One all over again every time we get a new manager - This is my biggest frustration

For me this is the most successful Year One we've ever had - A full and proper clear out and drafted some genuine talent in from the youth setup - Now Year Two needs to be about getting the style right and establishing a spine for the team - I'm totally fine with a mid-table finish if we can see that moving in the right direction

This post should be pinned, not lost in the obscurity of a possible transfer thread.

It shows that Derby County fans can be rational, sensible, consider circumstances and look at the bigger picture. Nice one, @cheron85.

And here's me thinking the 4 year plan was:

Year one - challenge

Year two - promotion

Year three - avoid relegation

Year four - stabilise in the premier League
