tomsdubs
My main concerns stem from how poor we are at creating goals from open play against bargain basement line-ups, will teams be more open against us in the Champ? Not sure about that. It'll be a full on relegation fight if we don't really invest in the squad. But tempting fate here, probably go to Cambridge now and not show up. Lose 1 nil. Warne deserves his chance if he takes us there but I think Clowes should be ready to make a change if it becomes apparent we are miles off it. Simmo’s left foot
Incredible really, here we are on the cusp of bagging promotion with club record points and still there are "Fans" who are more interested in agitating for a change in manager. I think Lionel had the right idea some years ago telling such people what they could do. Take a trip down the A52 if I recall. Top chap Lionel and we all owe a debt to him. I remember when he appointed Jim Smith and many also moaned. Fingers crossed for crossing the line and I'm hoping Warne will do a good job developing the squad and establishing us as a middle third upwardly looking championship team next season, which is what he has been given the target to do by the board. I'm very thankful we have an astute owner, who is putting the club on a stable footing, and not sacking managers all the time. As fondly as I remember some of the days under LP, it must also be remembered that he put the very existence of our club at risk, chasing a dream. We've had 2 local businessmen pour a lot of money into the club before and us end up on the edge of a cliff. Like you, I'm hoping for 3rd time lucky with David Clowes. jimtastic56 and tomsdubs 1

Gee SCREAMER !!
As it stands. I'll think about this after 3 and a half hours of total bus parking shithousery designed to frustrate, get a point and derail the most important part of our season. If we don't do that and lose in the playoff, the eternal bobble will still be here anyway unless he walks.

It was clear I was discussing next season rather than this one from my first post on the matter. I think Warne's done a commendable job this season in keeping the momentum up. It is as simple as I just don't feel he will be the right person to take us any further. Not sure why it is warranting quite such outrage posting from you really. To be fair he ran us very well till the last two years of his tenure with plenty of sellable assets on the pitch but then had quite an aggressive dementia that was undiagnosed. There was the Ravanelli story, where he was entertaining him at the pub he owned with his agent and agreed a massive 40k a week package, then seemed somewhat bemused about what he'd agreed to. Amusing or perhaps someway into a medical issue. SKRam
Ram-Alf
If we fail to get promoted...I'd like him gone, If we get promoted he deserves his chance, All embargos lifted and free to use the market, Clowes will have to watch how PW fares in the Championship, If we are stuck around the bottom 4/5 around Xmas then the fans...imo will start with the negatives, If we're mid table around the same time then Clowes might decide to extend his contract. Whatever the outcome after 27th April there's another re-build on the agenda. jimtastic56 and David Graham Brown

Even if we were to finish 6th from bottom of the Championship , during the season you can have a mini-run of bad results . That is when the “Bottle” of David Clowes will be tested. But yes re-build to start in 3 week. David Graham Brown

Crewton
I've only seen Derby win 26 games in a season once in nearly 60 years of supporting them, so I ain't gonna complain about how they did it this time. SKRam, GlastoEls and TimRam 1 1
Kernow
12 hours ago, Millenniumram said: I’m still of the opinion that if we appointed a different manager we’d have been promoted last season. In place of who though? To finish in the top 2 we’d have needed 22 more points at least, that’s a big, big swing for another manager to achieve. And it was with a squad assembled by somebody else. You’ve said before “I hate this team”, so clearly the players didn’t have what it took any way? I’m not Warne’s number 1 fan, I’m not sold that he is the right long term option for us and I’d have been very happy to see him sacked after Stevenage away. But he’s gone on to make us dogged, resilient and efficient. I can accept people may dislike his playing style or his personality, whatever, but I can’t see how anybody could argue that he’s not done an excellent job - providing we finish the job - given the circumstances. He’s taken a side who was pieced together under restrictions by a different manager, straight out of administration, and built an ethos and an atmosphere that a lot have clearly bought into. I really don’t think it matters how big a side we are or how many fans we have, to be in this position 20 months after nearly ceasing to exist is a wonderful achievement. Whether he finishes next season as our manager or not will remain to be seen, but he absolutely deserves the opportunity to take us into the Championship. maxjam
Its utterly ridiculous. We've been crying out for stability for years, the moment we start actually doing well and potentially finishing in the automatic promotion positions for the first time in god knows how long, some fans are wanting PW sacked and are happy to take a punt on whoever - could be better, could be worse - may come in next. If it was them lot up the road, I'd be falling over laughing. BOB BIGGS, Tamworthram, RodleyRam and 16 others 10

We could have Klopp, lose a game, and the same remarks would be made. Or: "he's only here for the money" "he might understand Premier League tactics but he doesn't get the Championship" "his standards are too high - and they don't want to play for him" "he is a high budget manager that got 'lucky' with the players". Without Salah he is a busted flush" "I don't like his sense of humour". "he is signing players the top top clubs don't want. He should go after world class players, pay them peanuts and offer no transfer fee because we are Derby - don't they realise how lucky they are?" maxjam, Ilkestonian, Carnero and 3 others 3
