Luke Plange

So...a player who was out of contract at the end of the season....who we can't offer a contract to...who we wouldn't get compo for...

Well we just got enough money to keep our club in existence for another month....and he will play for the rest of his original contract and may play beyond his current contract. ie we are being paid £1m to keep a player for an extra year

It's a no brainer and it would have been highly irresponsible to turn this down.

Chairman Steve Parish added: “Luke is an exceptionally talented young footballer and one we hope will bring a range of attributes to the club in the years to come.

“But first, he has an important role to fulfil playing at Derby, and we appreciate his significance to them in their current circumstances. It is less than 12 years ago that our club was in a similar situation - as a result we were determined to ensure both clubs benefit through this deal. Therefore Luke will return on loan for the remainder of the season and help Derby with their important battles on and off the pitch.

“I look forward to seeing Luke compete in Palace colours soon, and until then enjoy the performances he continues to give for Derby.”

Fair play Palace.

Are you listening Gibson?

That's respect, even though they're fleecing us.

Shame he’s going but always damage limitation. To get £1million is great. Derby is in administration! Need every penny.Keeping Ebosele, Lawrence and Knight is massive plus Plange can play the rest of the season. The squad will probably look quite different next season anyway. Looks a fantastic prospect but Derby will never hold onto top youngsters for long if not in prem and certainly not in administration. Got to be realistic.

So he’s officially gone… sort of!

Glad he’s being loaned back, but officially he’s a Palace player now, so I thought it best to start a new thread in here.
best of luck, young man. Thanks for the goals so far. Here’s to a few more, before we wave goodbye.

It's a shame but we have to focus on this season. Ensuring that we've got a club to support and we stay in the championship.

Let's face it we were always going to lose some players if no buyer was in by this point. It was just a question of to what extent the squad remained competitive. I have to say, considering how it was looking a couple of weeks ago, we've done very well. We have kept our very best players and therefore still have a good chance of staying in the division.

Jagielka and Shinnie are the two significant losses as senior players but it could have been a whole lot worse. Williams may well go on to be a good player but I don't think this will make a huge difference. A shame to lose Plange as well so early but he's still with us for the rest of the season.

This.

The kid came from a premier team down south, moves back to a premier team down south and we pocket some none too shabby money.

If you were Plange, his parents or advisors, it’s been a perfect move for all including us, who have benefited from the attraction of being able to fast track the lad. People need to see the benefit in this and the Williams deal, any talented kid that is released from a premiership academy in the summer and asked to join Derby, is not going to think twice if his agent is worth his money.

So what if we’re a conveyer belt, whilst out the premiership, we can use our academy to our advantage, so long as we have a manager like Rooney, prepared to give them a chance.

After a bit of Google-Columbo it appears that Mike Ashley & Steve Parish are good friends. Maybe that’s  just coincidence but classy from Palace and SP nonetheless

I have to say the same. Fair pay to Palace and treating us as a club with some respect and compassion.

Do we actually know it was £1m? Seen only that figure from the DM.

As for lending him back, would he have signed for them to sit in their U23s? They've done themselves a favour. They get in with a bid now before there's more competition in summer. He gets another few months being coached by one of England's greatest strikers and a (almost) guarantee that he'll play. They've got their money's worth.
