Can't be bothered to find and quote all the negative anti-Stretton stuff but in your collective faces and shame on all of you
Back the boys! Back every single one of them! We need that collective solidarity

Love Sibley, love his directness, love his energy and passion
However, I can see why Rooney can't trust him. Decision making can often be poor and he's still having those little pointless nibbles that don't achieve anything
I know this stuff is being coached to him, he has said himself. He needs to respond and listen to the advice because he's wasting his talent
I'd still be starting him though.

Thanks for the reminder

I also don't think Byrne and Ebosele are cancelling each other out, I think our offence is just so lopsided it's easy to play against. There's no threat down the middle or the left. If we can show some danger down some alternative channels we'll stretch their defence.
Don't know which of Lawrence or Morrison is supposed to be on the left but whichever one is supposed to be there, they're absent. Use the whole width of the pitch otherwise the overload is crowded out on the right.
With some effective changes I think Festy and Nathan could have a strong second half
-
Jozwiak on for Bird I think, put Morrison in the middle and get Jozwiak and Ebosele pushing wide and Lawrence much closer to CKR.
Got to move the ball quicker as well but we're isolated in the final third, one of either Morrison or Lawrence needs to give CKR some help up there

Don't think anyone has come out of that half well
Lawrence has been extremely poor

Maybe it's just a debate on how many points is fair to deduct so we don't have to get it reduced upon appeal

He played 3 games and his Euros Finished on the 23rd June, nearly 8 weeks ago.
You have to be aware that his rest was different than other players though? He was in the Poland camp training at an elite level all summer, even if it was only 3 games.
So he started his summer break later, and came back into the fold later, so in terms of coming back to first team fitness after the break, he's catching up.
That's what Rooney meant when he said he wasn't quite ready for Saturday. He's not been back with the squad quite as long.
Look, you can call that an excuse if you want but it is a fact that he hasn't had the same preseason as the rest of the squad and may take an extra couple of weeks

Hemingway apparently wrote 39 different endings to Farewell to Arms. Is this David’s problem- he just doesn’t know how it should end? ?
Apparently the first draft had a Harrison Ford voiceover that ruined everything, and pretty much no unicorn references, so we're waiting on the Final Cut

I'm really a theoretical physicist by training, but day job is a science publisher so I read a lot of papers and go to the scientific conferences that I find interesting. So of course I go to some sports science meetings and talk with the analysts and the coaches who are interested in this stuff.
Oh right, sound
I just thought if you were offering advice to England's greatest goalscorer on footballing matters you might have had some expertise in the matter
My mistake

Oh gawd. Rooney in his interview saying he asked the players who wanted to take the penalties. And that after we put our best penalty takers first in the shootout.
If you follow the science you put your best penalty takers last and you never ever ever ask the players at this stage.
Got away with it. Surely we have some sports science people at the club?
Onwards and hopefully upwards.
Interesting insight mate. What is your sports science background just out of interest?

I don't think Mel and DCFC come out of it too bad.
It is concerning that while Mel says that he wants to sell us to an appropriate custodian, we could have ended up with absolutely bloody any old clown with Samuelson brokering the deal.
I'm more concerned what this has raised about just how dirty the money in the game is. I suppose that answers the question "who in their right mind would buy a football club when football clubs famously never make any money?".
With that in mind, and without doing too much hand-wringing, are there any legitimate buyers for the club who don't have an aspect of criminality? How far does this go in the game? What owners of any football club don't have a grubby element buried deep in their structure?
Mel has not done good things for this club, but at the very least I believe he is 100% legitimate with his funds. I despair for the takeover. We need one badly after the shocking way we've been run but I'm now quite concerned about jumping out of this frying pan and landing in the fire.

Good grief can we get back to the Salford game? It's all getting a bit emotional

better in the transfer market
Want to elaborate on this bit? In what way are we better in the transfer market? Have you been in a coma for the past 6 months? Have a quick look at our squad list and see how threadbare we are

If anyone wants anyone to be sold right now, you must be insane. We're going to struggle to put a team out in just a few weeks. Every player counts.

We had a ball girl a few years ago, back when they used to announce "The Derby County Ball Kids" for home fans to cheer and applaud. Unfortunately stopped when opposition fans would all boo literal children

I want to reiterate because I haven't seen it mentioned but the queue in the South West corner for a beer at half time was a joke. One kiosk open and about 4 staff, one of which was very obviously new and under a lot of pressure was struggling to keep up
Lots of people behind us couldn't get a drink at all. Given that you can't take it up to your seat with you, and the TVs were not showing the game, they must have lost thousands in beer sales yesterday from people who gave up and went for a cigarette or back to their seat.
