I think Maguire , wants to moonlight as a tabloid journalist. He should know being an academic not to make claims that are not backed up in anyway. He seems to have Derby / Mel permanently in his mind and if I’m not mistaken wasn’t it him , who “voiced his concerns “ to the EFL in the first place ?

Do you think his missus got upset when the wedding photo in the bedside frame got replaced with one of Mel doing the bounce.?

Latest from Maguire about old Mel Morris holding company being disolved

It's a bit dull.....company that doesn't do anything now is disolved.

I expected a bit more from our beloved friend, how does this send the chilling message to the football world that the sinister tentacles of Derby County are still active in spreading their dastardly influence upon the pure and virtuous world of football finances?

You would not want to bet against Mel (with his huge ego) buying another club - to prove he can make a success of owning a football team.

If I was a betting man then I’d bet against it. I think he’s realised that owning a football club (and making a noticeable success of it rather than just pottering along in the lower leagues) is an expensive business that he won’t want to venture into again.

You can aquire a small fortune from owning a football club the problem is you first need to start with a LARGE fortune 🤨

Don't think that's his style. And there's no need to demonise him more than has been already done tbh.

Disagree with that, put us right in the crapper, got away lightly.  Don’t mention the lost fortune, all his doing, nobody strong armed him into it.  Amazed that somebody so willing to gamble as he did could accrue that much of a personal fortune in the first place.

Meanwhile, in other breaking news, some small insignificant meteorites that are not in our solar system, didn't hit the earth.

Absolutely amazed to see that Maguire is still being wheeled out on Sky as a 'football finance expert'.

Wonder if his analysis of the Man United situation is evidence based or just 'throwaway comments'.

To be fair, it's the academic field that he specialises in. I can't see how a candidate could be more qualified, even if you think he's a bamford.

Ego, Narcissism call it what you like, He spunked millions on high profile people one a proven manager two who wanted to give it a go, Lampard came with Uncle Harrys blessing and it nearly paid off...then pretty boy fecked off to good old London Town leaving us in a mess, Cocu picked up the pieces but unfortunately trying to make a team out of bits n bobs proved hopeless, Rooney pushed his way in with the help of Stretford his manager, Houdini, Paul Daniels and Tommy Cooper couldn't help us by then, MM saw the writing all over PPs walls, Covid killed him, Nowt coming in and millions going out.

He prayed that he could sell to any Rag Tag and Bobtail that would stick around long enough to show they had millions in an offshore bank account, Courting wanna be buyers...any buyers as DCFC became a busted flush, Finally he bailed, He walked out of the Casino with hunched shoulders and empty pockets...picked up a free sandwich on his way out and home to Sandy Banks on the South Coast.

I guess he gave us a little hope, But there's posters who have come and gone on here that know the story better than me, Just an old boy that's seen the glory days...but just glad there's still a Derby County ☺️

He reads information that is in the public domain reports on it, he's no more specialist than me. I dont understand how he has marketed himself as a 'football finance expert', there is nothing specialist about football finance, they follow exactly the same rules as every other company.

Obviously if you can show me what qualification he has that makes him more of an expert in reading a football clubs set of accounts than anyone else I'll be happy to reassess my opinion.

Until that point I will continue to view him as the s*** stirring charlatan that he proved himself to be with the point being discussed in this thread.

Again, he’s an academic who specialises in football finance. It’s literally his day job.
