Crewton
I just heard a she-Gump interviewed on the RD news claiming they had no choice but to "spend all that money" because they only had loan players when they got promoted, forgetting the 30 permanent professionals they had on their books at the time 😅 RadioactiveWaste, David Graham Brown, Comrade 86 and 2 others 1

RadioactiveWaste
It may be difficult, but, I think we all need to remember the inner crappness that is notts forest is strong, the faith and the belief in their ability to fail was on display at the weekend as they allowed Luton an equaliser. NG2Ram
4 points is a politically expedient punishment for the EPL to hand out. If it had been 6 points or more then Forest would have undoubtedly fought it and the whole saga would have dragged on towards the end of the season which is not in the EPL's best interests. 4 points gives the teams around/below Forest a chance (albeit a slight one given their current form and remaining fixtures) of finishing above Forest. Should one or more of those teams go on a great run and finish above Forest buy a comfortable margin, then should Forest subsequently complain the EPL can say that they should have appealed the original 4 point deduction at the time. Should one or more of those teams finish above Forest by only one/two points or on goal difference then the EPL have the option of reducing the original 4 point deduction to 2 points thus avoiding further appeals/legal action from Forest and also closing the door on any club relegated instead. littleover ram
Their argument is the club statement was they couldn’t compete as a newly promoted club without parachute payments the previous season. tough. Take money for a season and get relegated and build back up. That was Norwich’s model for years. Chopper
Best case now is that the 6 points deduction which has been reduced to 4 because of the cooperation of Notts, is appealed by their owner. The appeal fails, taking with it the mitigation of cooperation increasing the punishment up to the full 6 for a frivolous appeal. They go down by 1 point as a result of their own appeal. That'd do it and send a message to other teams. Yeah they should do that. TigerTedd and RadioactiveWaste
BaaLocks
2 hours ago, TuffLuff said: Going to be intersting to see where different people fall on this, who defends Forest, who stays quiet etc. Either way I think this is poor from Percy The logic of the offical statement from Forest seems to suggest that they are being punished for over spending, that somehow not letting them do so allows those with deeper pockets to outspend them. This is a flawed argument on many grounds. 1: Them was the rules all along, if you don't like them then don't play. 2: Those rules were brought in for the absolute benefit of the smaller clubs, to prevent them having to overspend and go into massive debts just to keep up. Indeed, they were put there to ensure that the biggest teams didn't have endless means on their spending, a la early Abramovich. 3: The size of the breach is of such a magnitude as to suggest either complete stupidity or flagrant intent to ignore. For those comparing the case of Forest and Derby it is clear to see one is a case of bad accounting (ours, as a club we were collectively a bit too cute and we served our punishment, but it was in the end one owner trying to play fast and loose with a definition of debt) and the other a blatant attempt to just subvert the rules as put in place. Forest can cry all they want that they are being chopped off at the knees but the truth is there to see, they broke the rules of the competition they chose to enter into. The problem we have now is that we enter into a phase of the journey where the lawyers of the convicted become potentially bigger than the lawyers of those prosecuting. Not for Forest but when the day of reckoning comes for City it will be very interesting indeed to see how that plays out. But, and I say this as someone who is far from a Forest hater (I don't live near there and have no friends or otherwise who support them), it is a sad day when you see the blight that has hit the lower leagues arrive in the top flight. Teams are now not relegated based on their footballing ability and our very close shave with extinction will likely be surpassed by someone like Forest, who just get themselves in that little bit too deep. It is going to happen. Edited March 18 by BaaLocks Red_Dawn and alanmarklewis 1

JfR
Forest's claims about being unfairly disadvantaged as a promoted Championship club would certainly hold more weight if they didn't also come out against distributing more pay to EFL clubs less than a week ago: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13188487/Premier-League-clubs-shot-EFL-deal.html Walkley Ram, BPV, The_Sheriff and 5 others
