The better way to put it is: whack the accounts in and declare them final, and you’ve satisfied the requirement to whack in the accounts. And if the EFl think the accounts are non compliant, they can start another legal action.

Wouldn't you be at least curious about what the 6 points were for? 

So many bandy figures around of how many points we should "take the hit for" but for what? or are we all assuming a P and S overspend of that scale? I can't help but think if our restated accounts showed such an overspend the EFL would not have been able to contain their excitement for this long and the Boro Pube Head would have been seen cartwheeling down the street by now.

I said exactly the same the other day.  If we had clearly breached such that we warranted a points deduction, then they'd have hit us with it.  The fact they haven't, hints to the fact they're trying it on in my view and MM is calling their bluff, hence the horrendous delay. If we really had broken one of their lovely rules, one that attracted a points deduction, all discussions would already be kiboshed and they're clearly not.

Say, for example only (I am not ITK), Mel is arguing that although the accounts resubmitted show us to have breached S and P, we wouldn't have breached at all/by most of the amount if the EFL had raised their objections to our way of amortising sooner than they did. The fact that we did it our way repeatedly and consistently without anyone saying anything will count for something.

It could also be that the talks are about more technical accounting matters such as what constitutes a breach of the FRS code thingy.  If we've come up with a wizard wheeze that isn't straight line nor our way but one we think still meets FRS and under which we still don't breach S and P or do so only a bit.  That's probably harder to reach agreement on than the possible mitigation.

Whatever, m'learned friends and accounting chums have probably been hard at it for several weeks now.

The legal teams from both sides must be raking it in. The EFL legal bill will be funded from member clubs previous contributions I presume, including Boro, Wycombe etc.....

There was something a while back that the Bill for the championship clubs was at around £50,000 each which is why the EFL wants a win to reduce that amount which probably included our fees

Or say for example only, The EFL have read/seen the accounts, Can't find anything to throw at us, But telling MM that the said accounts are in the hands of specialists and your system is taking longer than normal.

Meanwhile we're still under an emargo, Unable to sign anyone, So the EFL can take longer hoping that our wafer thin squad will lose enough points that they would have done the work intended, Once achieved they can tell the world that DCFC have been warned about thier future condunct and any more repatitions and the EFL will come down very harshley on the matter.
