Steve Gibson trying to liquidate Derby

Regarding player transfers, slavery was abolished in the 19th century and what clubs are selling is the player registration, players are under no obligation to sign for another club and are within their rights to stick a middle finger up at the EFL and not sign for a Neanderthal bunch of losers like Millwall, the EFL could do nothing.

Another point that I don’t to think has been mentioned is that the transfer window is open until 11:59 pm on the 31st January. It stands to reason that any club regardless the situation has all of that time to negotiate the best deal they can possibly get in that time frame and realise the optimum price for any of their assets. Clubs being furious for having bids turned down on the 10th Jan is frankly ridiculous

It's just reached the point of pure embarrassment, from Boro, Wycombe and the EFL.

All those rival fans that are finding joy in all this when they could easily be next, wake up.

The game is littered with utter BS, we tried to find a different way with amortisation to compete with those awarded millions for failure, which the EFL retrospectively on Gibson's request found us guilty.

Naughty Derby, grow up.

Rules have been retrospectively added to cover the EFL arses. Google enhanced embargo, see what comes up, Derby County, there was never a enhanced embargo before all this, it's something you came up with as Mel Morris publicly challenged you.

Meanwhile we have state owned clubs when sponsorships for official hotels, soaps and rubber ducks for 10x what they could buy this club for in the Premier League.

Do you not even realise how anti competitive the league that's responsible for your revenue is, do you not realise that the very existence of the Championship relies on multi millionaires prepared to be losing upwards of half a million a month, it's not sustainable even by your own rules.

Derby County reject a bid for their player which could be derisory, yet the EFL are on our case, are we in the position now where we have to sell Jason Knight for a fiver to keep Rick Parry happy, if that's the case then just end the game now.

We lost Kaide Gordon to Liverpool for a bag of monster munch and Freddo over that deal you agreed with the PL, how is that looking after your member clubs when they have to gift wrap the young stars that have been educated both on an off the field to satisfy the greed of the top 6 in this country.

Explain the benefit of that deal to your member clubs, please explain as from the fans that love the game, all we see is our clubs being screwed over.

Out of 2 play off finals which we were beaten, we were beaten by clubs that would have failed EFL FFP, we took it on the chin yet here we are, one club using bookies odds to build a case and another that didn't even earn promotion on merit jeopardising the existence of this club.

Meanwhile the MSM are far more interested in the likes of Man United and Newcastle to even realise what is going on outside the gold pit. The game is dying whilst the "journalists" are far more interested in finding the next tweet to create a clickbait article than actually do their jobs.

Nobody wants to touch it, why? We have a Serbian tennis player refused entry to a country and tournament, everyone, every journalist in sport is weighing in as we're sat here in limbo over let's not forget, retrospective punishment.

The EFL signed off our accounts that we have now been punished for, let that sink in.

I'm sick of it, sick of the rival fans looking to take the piss without understanding the situation, sick of the incompetent governing bodies, sick of Gibson and that Wycombe numpty.

We've rolled over, accepted the retrospective punishment, saved the EFL embarrassment of explaining themselves in court, yet the EFL are too gutless to tell the curly haired one to shut up as they are in fear of landing themselves in court over the utter shambolic way they have ran this league.

Grow some balls Rick, accept some responsibility over how the investigations were handled and do the right thing, tell Gibson to F off, tell Wycombe to F off and learn from your mistakes.

It has been said endlessly on here that the administrators legal duty is to the creditors and ensuring the best return possible to them. How do they satisfy this duty if they sell players at cut-prices on the first offer? This would reduce the amounts received by the creditors if it means they receive less on the sale of the club, if they have to sell then surely their duty is to get the best price possible for the asset. Whilst there is a chance we stay up then surely the best price for the club is obtained if we keep players if cash allows to increase the slender chance of staying up yo ensure they get the best £ for the club.

For the first time I am truly concerned we may be liquidated. The opportunistic sewer dwellers in the media and on social media almost seem to be competing to have the most doom laden articles and posts about us whipping up a frenzy to ensure we have no way out of this.  They are creating the crisis. Its like fuel crisis in the media created by them.   As for those from other clubs how can they not see how this affects normal fans none of whom are at fault for this. How can they sleep at night

Great post. With a few tweaks, you should email as an open letter to the EFL and national newspapers.

Top post David , absolutely bang on the money.

It is the same axis of evil , Gibson and the EFL that started our problems almost exactly two years ago.

And the same axis of evil that could finish us once and for all.

Last night's rant was alcohol fuelled public venting.

Absolutely no point in emailing them. They don't care. It's hard to believe they even care about the game at this point.

We need someone to have the money, time, drive to take them on through the courts. Apply the same pressure.

I don't want to see this settled out of court, even if no money changes hands, at this point we need to hear a judge throw it out their courtroom to deter others from trying this on in the future.

We need someone to look at this situation, tell the administrators not to worry about Boro or Wycombe, here's the money, hand over the keys.

This appears to be the only way out now, which is ridiculous given the nature of the case.

If they somehow convinced a judge that us "cheating" cost them, the can of worms it would open is a game changer.

Radio Derby need to invite Gibson on their show, it's ok getting the likes of Kieran Maguire on to talk finances, but let's hear the words fall directly out the man who's trying to liquidate this clubs mouth on how this case against us has been built, see if he's man enough to do that rather than indirect stories through the media.

He's not though, we all know that and I'm sure deep down he knows he has no case, it's just a stubbornness over a bitter dispute with our ex owner. Dog with a bone stuff.

Let Radio Derby run a headline, Steve Gibson refuses to appear on their show, it's the BBC, might even make it on the main website.

Forget Wycombe in all this, they are clutching onto Gibson's coat tails, their case is that laughable it doesn't even merit any attention.

David if that was your alcohol fuelled rant , there was me thinking that was restrained compared to my views on EFl and Gibson.

Think the mistakes that landed in this go much further back, but it was a huge mistake.

I can understand why the administrators did it, draw a line under it and just move on so they can transfer ownership.

It hasn't drawn a line though, we're still unable to move on and to think they now want us to just roll over and leave our players outside Pride Park for a car boot sale is just sickening.

Should concern ALL football fans, not just Derby, not because they will receive the same fair treatment, as it's been shown now they have no interest in fairness.

If the EFL pin your clubs badge on their most wanted board, which can happen, your clubs existence is in jeopardy, forget the banter, the rivalry, that should be a huge concern for anyone that loves their club.

Talksport (25th April 2019):

Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson fails in his bid to force independent review of Championship clubs’ finances

Gibson is unhappy with the conduct of Derby County, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.

A senior executive present at the meeting, said: “The EFL finance team did such a superb presentation on their processes and policies that everyone realised it was totally unnecessary to question their work and second-guess their FFP [Financial Fair Play] findings.

“Taking potshots at clubs’ accounts when on-field results go badly, if encouraged, will lead to a free-for-all which will bring the league into disrepute.

“We all realised after discussion that we need to leave non-sporting matters to the EFL. It is right to let the authorities do their job and not have interference from people with ulterior motives.”

An EFL spokesman said: “Championship Clubs met on Wednesday where there was a positive exchange of ideas on a number of different issues, including the League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules.

“The long term sustainability of all EFL Clubs remains of paramount importance to the EFL Board and they will continue to work with Clubs in respect of the rules.

“Clubs were also reminded of the stringent processes undertaken in reviewing financial submissions and that in the event any Club is found to be in breach of the rules, they will be referred to an Independent Disciplinary Commission.”

Given this i dont see how Gibson has a case.

It’s hard to see how the EFL can say square this with later telling Boro they have license to pursue any grievance separately.

Mind you, if this meeting was minuted and records the EFL’s stance that “stringent processes [are] undertaken in reviewing financial submissions”, then we should have been able to argue that our audited and accepted accounts were in order.

Essentially, any statement that comes from the EFL is utterly worthless.

I don’t think we’ll go under. But I do think we will need to concede something else to the EFL in order to get a sale done. It seems the EFL will keep chipping away until it is certain that we can’t stay up. I suspect they are terrified of the prospect of us staying up given the pressure they are under from other EFL clubs to ensure we go down.

He doesn’t have a case, that’s it in a nutshell.

If anything he is in breach of EFL rules and code of conduct.

So….

The EFL should throw a massive points deduction and ongoing Transfer embargo at Gibson and his club to allow the prat to walk a mile in our shoes.

Gibson and the EFL are in it together. Gibson sued the EFL first and the EFL said he could go after Derby once the EFL had made a punishment stick (the 9 point deduction). The EFL are not going to tell Gibson to drop his claim.

I don't think we will go under.......but I agree 100% with this post

there would be a point to insisting Derby sold players if was little likelihood of debts being payed and that selling would help with that.  As we are about to get a new owner I don't see the point of doing that.

However if we cannot get Gibson off our back and the EFL will not allow a new owner until we do then we will have to sell (towards the end of January)
