Steve Gibson trying to liquidate Derby

Carl Sagan

Recommended Posts

Here we are, administrators in, massive points deduction, an estimated £50m or whatever in debt, unable to pay wages. And then we read in the Teesside Gazette that Steve Gibson is suing Derby County. https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/middlesbrough-Derby-rooney-mel-morris-21660410

His gripe is that Mel sold the stadium to another of Mel's companies (accepted as OK by the League because not every club owns their stadium and you can't force a club to) and that Derby loaned Matt Clarke when Gibson wanted him to go to Middlesbrough.

Of course claims such as these are manifestly absurd and would normally be laughed out of court. But the problem is it's inconceivable that the Derby Administrators can also afford to pay lawyers to fight the Middlesboro Chairman. Equally, it's inconceivable that Derby could afford any additional fines the courts might impose.

The sole purpose of this can only be to ensure the end of Derby County as a football club. Nothing less. The entire football world including honest Middlesbrough fans should be outraged by this behaviour and condemn it in the strongest possible terms. The club can't afford to fight this, so it's up to us fans to shame Gibson into stopping this despicable course of action.

He’s never recovered from us copying his stadium design. Can he really be serious about this ?? The EFL need to apply sanctions to Middlesbrough FC if he doesn’t desist immediately. Perhaps stopping them playing such boring football would be a starting point.

What is to stop us taking identical legal action against Aston Villa for breaching FFP and denying us a place in the Premier League ?

Dear Steve Gibson,

It's not Derby's fault you chose to employ Tony Pulis.

We kindly advise you that any legal actions made on the basis that it was not fair that Derby were better than middelsbrough for the season 18/19 are likely to fail on the above piece of information.

Kind regards,

Derby County.

The first season we had Clarke, we finished 10th and they finished 17th. Is he really saying they would have got promoted if we didn’t have Clarke? And obviously the second season was last season when they finished above us. It just makes no sense…

At least there’s some degree of logic to the Waghorn argument, here we pipped them to 6th by a point.

This post ( and the like)should be sent to football journalists and hope they run with it and show him for what he is.

We need to forget about the insignificant little rick. He was probably bullied at school, hence his bitterness. This very small man means nothing to me or DCFC, so let's let him whinge and moan to his heart's content. All it does is confirm he is a vindictive rick, and the owner of a tinpot club that really no one in the north east (or the rest of England for that matter) gives a crap about. Just by talking about him we give him some form of relevance in the footballing world, so let's forget about him, and his name will fade into the annals of footballing obscurity. Whatever happens DCFC will be back and we will always, no matter what be bigger than Gibson and that horrible club he owns.

Taking his stadium design …. And being able to fill it instead of having rows and rows of empty seats on an empty basis

Odd that Gibson isn't sueing Villa, who came roaring past both us and Boro from the bottom half of the table after overspending massively in that particular season, and who also sold their stadium to their owners.

Someone might think it's not really justice he's interested in.

Indeed. seems to have forgotten about them since this in 2019.  One of the primary reasons he got an OBE was for services to sport - pull the other fecker. Can we apply pressure on mass to get him stripped of it, won't be good PR for him either way.

@villareport

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson is demanding an English Football League investigation into the financial conduct of three Championship teams, including Aston Villa.

I am right behind this we need to stop this and this end now.

It’s a weird hatred he’s developed. I saw a Boro fan on Twitter justify it because “we cost them promotion”, how exactly did we do that? By finishing one place above them?

What about Villa who also broke the rules, but got promoted, are they not being targeted because they finished 1 place higher? He clearly sees us as an easy target and has done for a while.

He seems to be trying to use a vendetta against us to justify his club’s failings. I thought he’d be happy enough to wave us goodbye out of the trapdoor of the league but no, this is low even by his standards.

They were relegated in 2017 and had parachute payments for three years, yet it is our spending that is the reason… right.

If the roles were reversed, I would be outraged by our conduct. I always thought it was just a Morris v Gibson thing, but now Morris has gone he’s decided to go for the every day people with mortgages to pay, and the fans who just want to go and watch their team play football. His conduct is quite embarrassing to be honest.
