Relegation rivals watch

That’s a big blow.

I think now we are entering miracle territory.

Reading need a point per game to reach 43 points. We’d need five wins from six to reach the same amount.

The sad fact is that Reading have ground out results at the worst possible time for us.

8 points from their last 12 compared to 4 points from 12 for us. You have to hold your hands up and say fair play.

Fine margins but hopefully it’s a lesson to Rooney and the boys. When you’re on top, make it count. Sadly we haven’t seen enough of that in recent weeks.

But hopefully the boys can lift themselves and end the season strongly.

Not a great deal has changed in my view. Yes we need a miracle but I had Reading down as winning this game beforehand.

We need to win at least 4 of our last 6 and hope that Reading go on an awful run. I can see them drawing a couple then losing two. If we win our games in that same time we can take it down to the wire. It's very unlikely but it's still possible. We have to keep going until it's mathematically impossible.

We'll fight till the end.

We were never ever staying up this season as soon as that 21 point deduction kicked in.

The fact that we're now only talking that our chances have gone with 6 games to go is a testament to Rooney, the staff and the players for given absolutely everything.

A 21 point deduction and 2 wins out of 20 away games really gives us no chance. If only we'd won a couple more away.

Hopefully we get a 15 point deduction now and can start afresh next season.

Agree to a point but fact we even had a sniff was down to Reading being dire. Being  realistic 44 points is a poor return but if we reached that, in reality it would be 65 points , well in top half with a squad that to be quite frank has been cut off at the knees. They have had a run when it matters after being poor for months, nothing we can do about that. If we can get to 40 points even 37 points that’s a more than creditable season with this squad that was tipped for relegation before any points deductions.

EFL currently waiting for the Reading result to decide whether we can have the 15 points this season or next…

Reading win = points deduction next season

Reading lose = we will think about it depending on how you do this Saturday.

EFL aren’t thinking of anything of the sort. We dont have a preferred bidder yet, maybe we’ll get one without the -15pt ortherwise it’ll be next season because we’ll be relegated before all this is sorted out.

What we really needed was for it to be a low tide at the bottom, meaning a number of teams at the bottom of the table being really poor and having a low points total.

Unfortunately this season it's actually been a high tide at the bottom barring Peterborough and Barnsley. Taking away points deductions and you've got Hull, Reading, Bristol and Birmingham all with 40+ points with 6 games left.

We needed more really poor teams down there. If there had been then we would have survived for sure. I just think we've been really unlucky. With the squad we've had it's been a great effort and remarkable that we've taken it this far.

It's still not quite over. We need a miracle but they do happen in this sport.

It’s only been Reading’s 6 point deduction that’s kept this interesting.

We’ve managed to pick up 22 points on The Posh 20 on Barnsley but only 6 on Reading. We’ve managed to pick up 8 points on Hull, 5 on Bristol,4 on Brum and 3 on Cardiff.

The away return is what’s done us. It’s not over yet and if you take away our points deduction then we would’ve looked like being comfortably safe. Quite a feat for a team of journeymen and kids.
