Where’s this Write up ?

David said he's getting his post fact checked before he can put it out there. I suspect after the reaction to the Punjabi Rams tweets last night (to which they've been really quiet about today) and the guy who got his few minutes of fame on local radio this morning, that the club decided that they need to make sure that the supporters reps who were at the meeting last night need to word there responses more carefully so people don't all jump to worst case scenario reactions.

I think the intentions behind the meeting are correct - to clear the air and give some answers to people they think they can trust and will be able to communicate well with the rest of the fan base. However, the demand for answers from fans and the knee jerk tweets last night have intensified the feelings between fans and chairman/club instead of putting people at ease.

I'm sure we'll have some sensibly worded responses/reports from last nights meeting soon and also find out the answer to the important question... Does Mel have pineapple on his pizza? If he does, he can F right off out of here...

Unless we know exactly what it is he has to ‘sort’ then it’s not as simple as saying ‘well sort it then’.

Why the HMRC has still not been paid is something Mel can surely not hide away from?  Unless they have been paid and I;ve missed something?

Let's look at how many senior players we had for each position (players we owned or had on loan) at the point of greatest depth during the season.

14/15
GK: 1 (Grant)
RB: 1 (Christie)
CB: 6 (Keogh, Buxton, Barker, Shotton, Whitbread, Albentosa)
LB: 2 (Forsyth, Naylor/Warnock)
CM: 7 (Thorne, Hendrick, Hughes, Bryson, Eustace, Mascarell, Coutts/Lingard)
W: 4 (Ince, Russell, Ward, Dawkins)
CF: 3 (Martin, Sammon, Bent/Best)

Rawson, Hanson, Calero, Bennett and KThomas on the fringes offering emergency cover.

1 CB was long term injured and another was RB cover. Various injury issues at CM with only loans coming in to cover.
This is a perfect example of a well built squad (bad luck with injuries aside)

15/16
GK: 2 (Carson, Grant)
RB: 1 (Christie)
CB: 6 (Keogh, Buxton, Pearce, Shackell, Shotton, Albentosa)
LB: 3 (Forsyth, Warnock, Olsson)
CM: 7 (Thorne, Hendrick, Hughes, Bryson, Butterfield, Johnson, Baird)
W: 5 (Ince, Russell, Weimann, Blackman, Camara)
CF: 3 (Martin, Bent, Sammon)

Roos, Rawson, Hanson, Guy, Elsnik, Calero, Bennett and KThomas on the fringes.

Just what were we thinking? In that second half of the season, we owned 3 LBs, 6 CBs, 7 CMs and 5 wingers!
Did we really need to loan Warnock out and buy another LB? Why did we need 5 wingers, when Ince is an ever present?

16/17
GK: 2 (Carson, Grant)
RB: 2 (Christie, Baird)
CB: 3 (Keogh, Pearce, Shackell)
LB: 2 (Forsyth, Olsson)
CM: 6 (Thorne, Hughes, Bryson, Butterfield, Johnson, de Sart)
W: 6 (Ince, Russell, Weimann, Blackman, Camara, Anya)
CF: 4 (Bent, Vydra, Martin, Nugent)

Roos, Rawson, Lowe, MacDonald, Hanson, Guy, Elsnik, Bennett, Vernam all on the fringes.

We already had 5 wingers so sign another?! The less said about the CF position the better. The defence and midfield looks to be in a healthy position though.

17/18
GK: 1 (Carson)
RB: 1 (Wisdom)
CB: 4 (Keogh, Davies, Pearce, Shackell)
LB: 2 (Forsyth, Olsson)
CM: 7 (Thorne, Huddlestone, Ledley, Butterfield, Johnson, Bryson, Palmer)
W: 5 (Lawrence, Weimann, Russell, Blackman, Anya)
CF: 4 (Martin, Bent, Nugent, Winnall)

Bogle, Lowe, Bird, Hanson, Guy, Elsnik, Gordon, LThomas, Bennett on the fringes.

Loaning players out again just to sign other players: Bryson out, Ledley in (plus Palmer in Jan), Bent and Martin out, Jerome in.
The actual squad size at least was respectable after Jan, with just 2 players per position.

18/19
GK: 2 (Carson, Roos)
RB: 2 (Bogle, Wisdom)
CB: 5 (Keogh, Davies, Tomori, Pearce, Ambrose)
LB: 5 (Forsyth, Malone, Olsson, Cole, Lowe)
CM: 9 (Huddlestone, Johnson, Ledley, Mount, Evans, Holmes, Butterfield, Bryson, Thorne)
W: 5 (Lawrence, Wilson, Jozefzoon, Bennett, Blackman)
CF: 5 (Waghorn, Marriott, Nugent, Martin)

Ravas, MacDonald, Buchanan, Bird, Knight, LThomas, McAllister, JML, Wilson on the fringes.

Didn't Mel say the wages of players not playing in this season totaled something like £12m? What a waste!

19/20
GK: 3 (Roos, Hamer, Carson)
RB: 2 (Bogle, Wisdom)
CB: 3 (Keogh, Clarke, Davies)
LB: 3 (Forsyth, Malone, Lowe)
CM: 7 (Bielik, Knight, Holmes, Shinnie, Evans, Huddlestone, Dowell/Rooney)
W: 6 (Lawrence, Waghorn, Bennett, Jozefzoon, Anya, Paterson)
CF: 2 (Martin, Marriott)

Bird, Sibley, Whittaker started on the fringe. Buchanan, JBrown, JML, Trialist, Ravas also on the fringes.

The balance is probably about on par with 14/15. Other than Knight unexpectedly breaking into the team over the summer and Anya having turned one summer into a decade, the numbers and quality look to be ideal. Carson the only player we own to be out on loan was a big improvement on previous seasons (wages fully covered by Man City).

20/21
GK: 3 (Marshall, Roos, Carson)
RB: 1 (Byrne)
CB: 5 (Wisdom, Clarke,  Davies, Edmundson, Mengi)
LB: 3 (Forsyth, Buchanan, Malone)
CM: 8 (Rooney, Bielik, Bird, Knight, Sibley, Shinnie, Holmes, Evans)
W: 5 (Lawrence, Jozwiak, Jozefzoon, Ibe, Whittaker/Roberts)
CF: 4 (Kazim, Waghorn, Marriott, Gregory)

Ravas, MCDonald, Festy, JBrown, Cashin, Watson, Hutchinson, JML, Shonibare, Wilson, Trialist, Stretton, Cresswell all in the fringes

That squad, on paper, looks to be just as strong as 19/20. More players but on lesser wages so things balance out.

He’s a cryptic FUD who’s not worth the clickbait attention. He talks riddles and leaves things open ended so he doesn’t look stupid when nothing happens. He then blocks people who question him. Does have reliable sources at Wigan tho.

Why does he call himself ReluctatNicko.? He doesn't seem very reluctant to spout what purports to be inside info, but which often turns out to be a load of Bolleaux.

You have to take into account the natural decline of players with age.

Waghorn during the first Phillip Cocu season was still performing as a solid Championship player. He declined noticeably last season, losing a yard.

Forsyth and Davies too.

Unfortunately, none of our younger players have progressed since 19/20 aside from Lee Buchanan to make up for it.

This squad is weak. CKR is 34 now, and with games coming thick and fast, he’ll also likely decline too.

I’ll also add some others like Lawrence and Wisdom haven’t improved to any great extent since joining. All the while the Championship is becoming increasingly more difficult due to parachute payments and the quality of managers increasing.

Standing still in this league = gradually getting worse. And declining = falling off a cliff.

Can anyone remember during the Mac years when we had a ‘What the opposition are saying’ thread and it was full of opposition fans gushing over our team and the way we had built the 2013-14, 2014-15 sides?

I wonder what those same fans are thinking now.

Incredible how we went from that to this. Only one man responsible for it all.

Tommy Docherty started it all...

You see a lot of football fans who like to watch the game but seem to have no actual understanding of it at all. The kind of person that would say things like "Bradley Johnson is great, let's sign him", "Clough should never have sold Shackell", "We haven't had a decent right back since Wisdom left", "Blackman is top of the scoring charts, let's buy him", "Wayne Rooney is still a great player", "Nigel Pearson did a great job at Leicester, he'd be great here too".  It honestly feels like we're being run by one of those types.

You are describing 99% of football supporters I have ever sat next to or near... for 50 years.

Derby have released training photos with all the triallists in and all smiling. Makes me wonder if Nixon is full of Bull like usual or if those photos were taken yesterday.

Theres a photo of my ex missus smiling somewhere if i dig deep enough.

How do we know that the facts related by Ramstrust and the Punjabi Rams aren't a fair and honest account of what was discussed. We await David's account to balance the issue.

No because the club said the payment would be made, but, once again has failed to deliver, also under/overpayments can be resolved later, I think this is a case of deep pockets and short arms on Mel's part.  Failure to pay the HMRC is a factor for the embargo which I believe will loosen a little once a payment of the appropriate size has been made.
