JuanFloEvraTheCocu'sNesta
Good stuff. Nice to see that the current leadership are still wanting to take the academy seriously. A big job to get it back to where it was after it got gutted out during administration. Ambitious
A very good, highly reputable appointment. Perception plays a huge part in football and a hire of this magnitude should ease some minds that the academy is looking to progress and the club is willing to invest - despite our League One status. He still has to prove he’s a good appointment, of course, but good work by the club to get him in. Kernow
Getting the Academy Director from a club like Southampton definitely sounds like a real positive. When you look at the players Southampton have produced for a club of their size, then it’s very impressive. We need to start seeing a better return from our academy, we’ve had a lot of graduates playing for the first team but a lot is through necessity rather than choice. Hopefully we can start to rebuild the damage of administration even more now. David Graham Brown, Carnero, LeedsCityRam and 2 others 3

RoyMac5
Sounds an exciting appointment. I hadn't realised how much I missed seeing our youth teams play and do well. How enjoyable it is watching our youngsters develop and aim for a first team place. I hope we see more of the U21s/U18s on RamsTV. Have you any info on that @Owen87ITK? This is a really impressive appointment imo, and hopefully shows potential recruits that our youth system will be back on track soon enough David Graham Brown and Miggins

Van der MoodHoover
Why on earth he would want to leave the sub-tropical, leafy environs of the Costa del Sol-ent for a county that's 3 days from the sea by ox cart is beyond me...... 🤣 Kathcairns and angieram

Walkley Ram
Really happy with this. Shows that we really did want to take the academy in a different direction, rather than scale it back. If you're picking which academy to send your talented kids to, we must look very appealing now.
CBRammette
Surely this cannot be correct and someone of such reputation couldnt possibly want to come and work with Paul Warne 😂😂 Excellent appointment and sign of intent Premier ram, Carnero, Caerphilly Ram and 13 others 4
Millenniumram
Wow, that’s an outstanding appointment on paper. Southampton’s academy are renowned as one of the best in the country, and it seems Hale played no small part in that success over the last decade. When you think of some of the names that have come through there, they really are a model any academy one club should be looking to follow - hopefully he can deliver similar here. Hats off to Clowes and co for managing to persuade him to come here given the current mess our academy is in (thanks Mel) - he must really love a project! This is a key milestone in the rebuilding of the academy and club as a whole imo, re-establishing ourselves from the ground up back to where we should be. Hopefully the academy can now finally deliver on the investment. Kathcairns and Miggins 1
