They're all at it, Doesn't matter that Neville is a multi millionaire and tops up his wealth with more loot, Labour MPs are at it Union leaders are at it, Those who bark the loudest are the most quiet when it comes to their wealth.

As an aside, Ba****d Aldi ripped me off to the tune of £3.25 today...I'll get it back ? by hook or by crook ?

One of the senior players in a Man Utd side that went to play in a money spinning cup competition in Asia and didn't play in the FA cup.  Man Utd should never have been allowed in it again.  He was part of the team that lit the torch paper for everything since.  I pay no attention to him.

I’m no fan of United but to be fair they didn’t want to play in that tournament in Asia. The FA put pressure on them to go as they thought it would help England’s bid for the 2006 World Cup, that worked out well

Another champagne socialist, all the same I’m afraid when £notes are waved in front of them. In the bin with Lineker, hypocrite.

Have a listen to Steven Bartletts podcast with Neville its a good listen. He addresses people calling him a champagne socialist, makes some very good points about how he can still support labour but be successful, i personally like him and you cant knock him as a business man.

whish these people would either keep they’re mouths shut or keep they’re wallets shut

If you look into the business's he owns you'll know he's certainly not doing it for the money.

Donating his fee to charity as he doesn’t need it then I take it ,,, didn’t realise that having loads of money stopped you wanting more ?

I also enjoyed listening to him in Guardian Football last week and felt he addressed many controversial points with honesty and a refreshingly new perspective.

I actually think you would agree with much of what he says @TexasRam

Some of the bile directed to Neville on here is illuminating, especially in regards to the 'insane jealously' we witnessed by those posters who were suggesting that changing the top rate of tax down to 40% seemed to be an odd thing to do at this point in time. The markets agreed, then most Tory MPs agreed too and forced a U-turn on it.

I've always found the hatred of so-called Champagne Socialists weird, usually as it comes from people who think people should be able to accumlate as much wealth as possible.

"I'm rich and want to keep all my money, but I hate other rich people who say I should pay more tax!"

or

"I'm poor, but hate rich people who say that rich people should pay more tax. Rich people should be able to keep all their money."

I think wealth will always garner jealousy.

As you say, there’s nothing wrong with someone with money supporting Labour.

Taking money from sources suspected of bad practice is very topical with the LIV golf malarkey.

I know that government’s deal with each other despite criticising their rule and everyone’s conscience is different.

I just think that for those wealthy enough to be able to make a stance, it’s disappointing when they don’t.

I would agree with that, but Neville has some interesting things to say on the matter. He does genuinely seem to be involved (partly) to raise awareness and start conversations about what is going on, not try and gloss over the problems like Beckham seems to be doing.

Oh thank goodness Neville is around to "raise awareness" and "start conversations". No one would know about human rights abuses in Qatar otherwise.

Well, his central point is that engaging with areas of the world like Qatar is better than either ignoring them or helping whitewash what goes on there. Which one of those methods would you prefer?

It seems like Neville is living rent free in more people's heads than Lineker.

Find it quite funny how they are more annoyed at Gary Neville taking a job in a country with dodgy human rights, rather than the dodgy human rights in said country.

Maybe worth considering that some broadcasters/newspapers are using this story that’s over a week old to divert away from a fractured Tory conference.

He was a rich socialist who was as political as Neville. He said Murdoch and Maxwell were the biggest problems in Britain. He wrote for the Sun.

Awaiting the condemnation.

Great manager, but definitely up himself and frequently a nasty piece of work.
I can live with the side issues if the job is being done.

As you know I have no problem with anyone earning as much as they possibly can (apart from football agents, I want them to earn nothing the parasites) I do however have an issue with those in a comfortable position preaching on how we should live our life’s and distribute our own wealth, while bending over to the nearest offer no matter where the cash is sourced.
However as @sage says we are all hypocrites (I’m a huge one) so I guess fair play to Nev. I just hope when he’s over there he doesn’t wear his rainbow badge, kiss a women, down a pint or spout about for the H&S and working rights standards of the immigrant workers (actually I hope he does, it’ll be fun to watch).
