James Collins - Signed for 2 years

According to Nixon, Rooney is keen for us to add James Collins to our team for next season.

However, we need to strike a deal with Cardiff that is favourable on our finances. He found himself out of their team last year, but had a good reputation at Luton. He’s a scrappy type of player that generally doesn’t shirk a challenge. A good option for League One, for sure.

Is this link a follow up to reported interest before he signed for Cardiff - I would expect Cardiff to release him if Derby offered him a contract as he barely got a game there recently and they would very much like his wages of their books I assume.

At 31, is he a bit young for a member of the coaching team.

Is he playing as an attacking midfielder.

Sure cardiff fans are glad to see the back of a player, who will not score at least 10 goals in a season.

The Cardiff fans seem to think he's fairly slow for an attacker.

"That is not to say Collins has not had his opportunities, mind you. In fact, he has had 16 shots on goal, 12 of which have been inside the penalty area."

"whether the striker being unable to find the net is one of the many causes behind the Bluebirds' slump"

His goal scoring record is pretty impressive, except for Cardiff.

He scored 68 goals in 174 games for Luton, 20 in 45 for Crawley, 8 in 21 for Northampton.

Player who has scored 10+ goals in 8 out of the last 10 seasons "will not score at least 10 goals in a season". 25 goals in Luton's promotion season in 18/19.

Probably doesn’t help that they don’t know how to play football. When we played them I saw birds on the grass more than the football when they had it

Exactly the sort of savy signing we need.

Experienced in general but specifically at this level, which not many of our lads know.

You don't get complete/rounded players at this level, there's usually some aspect missing, which in this case is pace, but you get players with enough attributes to be very effective, and you'd back this guy to fit the system and get a few goals.
