Born in Derby 1980. Lived in town, before moving to Allestree as youth. Dad's job relocated us to Stowmarket Suffolk when I was eleven and still here now. Everyone supports Ipswich (a few Norwich) down here. But it was too late as I'd already experienced the BBG buzz many times and became hooked. DTID.

I've seen Derby away at mainly the East Anglian games more than I've been to PP and lucky enough to somehow get playoff final tickets with my limited purchase history which I'm sure will upset a few. In fact the only game I went to that season was the Carrow Rd floodlight failure which we came out on top, winning 4-3.

My boy turns 7 next week and has had DCFC kits since he was 3 and has also been handed my older brothers old 80s shirt with the sportsweek sponsor. I'm thinking about treating him to a game at PP soon but not sure if it will be more like torture!? I need to get him there before I take him to Portman Road which is only 20 minutes up the road or he'll soon become a full blown Tractor boy.

COYR,

I HOPE SOME OF OUR YOUTHS STEP UP TO THE PLATE THIS SEASON. ???

If your boy ever gets fed up with his shirt with the sportsweek sponsor, I'll give him a good price / trade for it please!

I surely asked nicely before Quangy and Loweman did, and they both probably have 6 shirts each of that one already!

Franks Tanked, you are not alone here in Stowmarket. I have lived here since 96 after being posted to Wattisham, can’t get away now.  Lived in Mickleover until I joined up at 23. Been to matches against the tractor boys and occasionally made it back to PP. White Swan in Needham is good To watch the Rams in, the landlord is a supporter too.

Ahhh, good to know. There's a couple of more Rams fans in and around Stowmarket as Atco Qualcast relocated from Littleover Derby to Stowmarket back in the 90s which later became/what is now Bosch.

We'll have to meet up for a drink/match at the Swan in Needham some time. I currently have Sky but my deal runs out in December and not sure if I'll renew, especially if we're doing poo!

I have a brother from Coddenham who's also a fan.

Thought Qualcast would be the link. I did an apprenticeship at Qualcast Foundry’s. I will be cancelling sky from September so I have an excuse to go to the pub. I used to watch the game in the Oak before he change moved to Swan, the Swan is a nicer place too. He used to love it when the fans got off the train for a last stop pint before going onto Ipswich. Maybe they need to get off at Needham and aim for the Swan now instead.

Born in Crewe. Supported home town til late 60s when Dad took me to watch Derby play Bolton in Div2 and the Rams won 5-1.

Loved the BBG, the fans, and the 'beautiful game' being crafted by a talented young manager.

Funny how things have changed coz Crewe now play sexy football and have a brilliant manager ...

Was the MD of Qualcast Roger Lackner by any chance?

Sorry, I can’t remember it is 32 years since I left there. I doubt I could even answer you then as I didn’t even know what an MD was............I was scared enough of my own foreman as it was with out the complications of real grown ups existing.

Aaah, fair enough. Uncle Roger as he was to us was MD then owner until it was either sold or went bust. Long time ago though.

Born in Essex no football team got my consistent support growing up though I do remember a brief liaison with late 60’s Liverpool. Recall wondering where Derby County had suddenly appeared from in the 70’s and the BBG being considered a fortress during the Championship seasons. Came up to Derby in 1980 for College and have never left. First visit to the BBG was for the Telford FA cup tie 1984 in the away end as a fellow student was from Telford. Bobby Davison scored a hat trick and the atmosphere was intimidating. We struggled to stop the police herding us to the station explaining we were living on Uttoxeter New Road. First game supporting the Rams was the following season against Millwall standing on the pop side, but attending matches was restricted by Rugby commitments. Lots of good memories since then ….. the poor ones get wiped. Derby now in the blood despite the suffering!

Born in Somerset, then lived in Calcutta and Doncaster before settling in Derby. Was a casual rams fan through the eighties. Went to Sheffield Uni and started seeing a girl who was a full on DCFC fan. We got season tickets under Jim Smith. Still got the season ticket now! (And still in Sheffield.).

Still got the girl? ?

Funnily enough both my Dad and the other chap who relocated from Qualcast in Derby down to Suffolk are both called Roger but neither of them Mr Lackner or MD.

Ha ha, I'll let you know. There's still a bit of growing into the Osca Sportsweek shirt before he moves into my old blue chequered square away kit from the late 80s. Here's a picture of him from a few years ago donning the old Patrick shirt, he's probably grown out of that one now although not sure where the shirt is.

Born in Barrow- in-Furness, spent 1 year there, then two years in Plympton, before moving to Barton-under-Needwood, Staffs. Until the age of 7, I 'supported' Man U - well in truth I loved Bobby Charlton.

First game I watched was a Burton midweek game, but we left at half-time because I was upset by a man sat behind us who kept shouting!

Got 'into' the Rams because my Dad and elder brother were supporting them. First Rams game I can recall is The Derby 3 Bristol City 3 Boxing Day game. I was a season ticket holder for a couple of years (1982-83 and 1983-84, I think).

Lived in Derbyshire (Repton) for two years from 1983-85. Since then I've lived in Plymouth for three years, Bugle (Cornwall) for four years, Tisbury (Wiltshire) for 13 years and have now been in Shaftesbury (Dorset) since 2008.

I usually get up to see a few games each year at Pride Park, plus a few 'local' away games - Bristol City and Reading. Desperately hoping that we make a good start this year. COYR.
