I didn't turn out tonight. Family thing.

Got back for the last 35 mins on Rams TV.

While I was watching we grabbed two, and had further positions could have capitalised on.

6 wins in 7...magic. All a bit 'meh' though, innit? When's the fun start?

Promotion seasons are rare and brilliant. Dont wait until the end to enjoy it, Get to every game you can and sing your heart out for 98 minutes, then when you are old, you will remember these days like us lot do the Clough, Cox and Smith days.

Come on you great big beautiful Rams.

First half was awful, punctuated by Hourihane’s fine strike.

Nobody was demanding the ball, particularly in the midfield, which meant we went sideways or long.

No danger from them but Ward just isn’t a defender and his tackle was dumb.

Second half started slow again but Wilson raised the tempo, as did Sibley, and gradually players started to wake up.

Wish we could play with that intensity from the start. We have a reasonable squad now and can afford to give players a breather.

    Lovely to see Thompson back.

Glad I travelled up from Bristol. Hotel bed beckons 😊

I think we have to accept that we can’t dominate and play with that intensity you mention for 90 minutes. What we have to do is take our chances when we have our periods of dominance.

  3. No problems with the rails but for some reason the stewards kept wanting to see your season ticket. There was queues building at 2.55 with being stopped at the entrance to the stairwell to show your ticket then again at the top of the steps to gain access to your seat. The second set of stewards got the rough end of it with people just refusing to fish it out again 30 seconds after putting it away.

None of us could come up with a good enough reason why you would have to show your ticket twice to reach your seat. They tried it again at half time but most just totally ignored them this time.

  4. Just read that Israel have killed over 90 journalists since the attacks on Gaza started. .

Not one word of condemnation from British journalists ….I’m sure some would have known some of the murdered journalists personally and yet they cannot, or not allowed to, comment on the targeting of these brave souls who have died for trying to report what’s happening

I’m born and bred in Sutton so I’ve been surrounded by Villa all my life. They’re generally a good bunch (way better than the bluenoses!) and they’re loving life at the moment.

Quite right mate. The Villa fans were ok, if it had been bluenoses we'd have been in a brawl no doubt.

He’s clearly still got enough quality to play in the prem and definitely the champ, I wasn’t advocating an immediate return or anything. Just that romantic idea of him “coming back home” before his career finishes

Still a Premier League player. Love to see if we could tempt him next season if we go up though.

Carlisle boss Paul Simpson has criticised supporters who abused him at the end of the 3-0 defeat at Blackpool.

The Cumbrians have won just three times this season and lie three points from safety in League One...

The supporters reacted badly to their fourth defeat in five games and Simpson said he "did not deserve to go over in front of our supporters" and be abused with offensive words and gestures.

The former Derby County and Manchester City player was also unhappy that on-loan Crystal Palace striker Luke Plange was subjected to ironic cheers when substituted in the second half.

Said Simpson: "I don't expect our supporters, who have been absolutely magnificent, to cheer and applaud when we sub a 21-year-old striker on loan from a Premier League club.

"That's not how we support Carlisle United. I think they've got a very short memory because when I came back into this football club it was on its knees.

"They all wanted to turn up and support us when the good times were going, when we had runs of wins and got into play-off semi-finals and finals, and win at Wembley and are suddenly in League One.

"They all want to cheer for that and enjoy that and now we're having a sticky patch suddenly people want to make gestures like that.

"I'll be honest with you, I don't need that in my life, I don't need that at all, so I'm not happy about that.

"It wasn't a few, it was a lot of people. We are struggling, let's be honest, but [Saturday] we did not lose because of a lack of effort and I don't care what anybody on that far side [of the ground] thinks about that.

"I don't even think the tactics were wrong, it was individual mistakes and we had opportunities and half-opportunities and if we had been clinical in both boxes that may not have happened.

Asked if he might walk away from the club if the abuse continues, Simpson refused to answer.

Football fans are fickle. Always been the case unfortunately.

I’m surprised there isn’t a West Midlands branch. There was in the 80s, I remember going to The Royal in Sutton Coldfield for a branch event evening with Graham Richards and Colin Gibson.

i can’t remember much else, other than the branch chairman went to prison for fraud. Honestly! Nothing to do with the supporters’ club, I think it was at his work. Maybe that’s why there isn’t a branch any more!

Sutton Coldfield is Villa territory. We took it over a few years ago when one of our lot married a girl from that way on. We did the bounce in Sutton Coldfield town hall much to the amusement of our lad and the embarrassment of his new wife and her Villa supporting family. 🐏

I'm a reasonably diplomatic, boring, steady middle aged bloke.

I'm reasonably well educated and can write reasonably well so try to choose words on this forum that express an opinion that may be different to others, without deliberately causing offence. I certainly don't have 'poor writing' or 'poor vocabulary' as anything like an excuse if I were to cause offence.........but, without being patronising, I do understand not all so-called offensive posts are intended to be offensive.

However, it's apparent that I'm not alone in finding it tiresome that almost every single thread deteriorates into a game of point scoring, oneupmanship and, increasingly, forum archeology, in order to be unpleasant to one another.

There seems to be, in equal measure, deliberate attempts to cause offence and seek offence and it's just not great reading. I'm not in the slightest bit supportive of closing down debates or censoring differences of opinion but the number of personal spats with unpleasant language is getting beyond a joke.

I can't blame the mods because, individually, most of these posts fall below the threshold of complaint but, collectively, they make this forum so much worse than it could be.

I came to this forum for camaraderie when we nearly went under as a club - and it was a source of great comfort, information and humour.

It's got to the point where I'm considering signing off and and using the Telegraph and Radio Derby as my main non-matchday links - they have limitations but they are civil.

Any ideas what we can do?

Its an online forum, posts can seem a bit black and white, there's no nuance like you get with a conversation in the workplace or pub.

We can't read every post so use the report function if you think it warrants it.

I do believe that people generally are less tolerant then ever based on my own experience at work. Everyone seems stressed out and close to breaking point probably due to the horrendous cost of living and all the fear porn on the news every night.

  10. I would happily have taken the position we are in a week before christmas, 3 points off automatic promotion back in August.

Plenty of room for improvement but winning is a nice habit and confidence will give us an extra boost going into the next few games.

We won't win them all, we will lose one or two soon enough but thats when you need to go on another run. The other teams wont win every game either.

Its all to play for, enjoy it! Look forward to a proper scrap for those top 2 positions over the coming weeks and months.

Like Odergaard for Arsenal against Villa?

Even world class players miss easy chances, remember Collins is a lg1 player and if he was more reliable, he wouldn't be playing at this level. Having said that, he contributes all over the pitch and always puts a shift in, unlike Bielik on Friday night.

Collo puts a shift in every match. He's not a natural finisher like Bobby but at this level, right now, he's doing a job for us. If his efforts end up helping us to promotion then he will be fondly remembered by most Derby fans. A few fans expect him to finish every chance for some reason.

Regardless of system or personnel, I think we could have played Villa 10 times and we’d probably only have won once - likely on penalties.

They were largely superior all over. We gave them a scare last 15 minutes but it was too little, too late.

On the other hand, if West Brom had beaten Villa on penalties, in my mind we would have been favorites in the final as I thought they were poor on both occasions we beat them.

And I’m sure Villa were delighted we beat Leeds.

We lost because of Kelle Roos. Horrendous gifted goal cost us. Villa were never a threat.

so might there be any reason Arsenal would recall him?

He scores every time he touches the ball?

Nah, hopefully The Arse are too busy concentrating on fighting for the title to worry about JJ. knocking a goal or two in down here. By the time they realise, we'll be showing off the League One Cup and the EFL Trophy in the Market Square.

I’ve for a long time believed that it would be a good thing to have an area or areas of grounds that sell tickets just for the area and sit where you want when you get there , it really would allow people to go on the spur of the moment with friends and family , there’s times my daughter and partner would come along to a game but obviously we wouldn’t be able to sit together, Sadly I suppose the threat of bad behaviour and tracking tickets stops this , shame really🤷🏻‍♂️

Said the same for years. The club could easily trial this with a smallish, single block/area somwehere.
