Leigh Curtis is the most reliable and he said in his Q&A we were certainly interested. Warne went to watch him play in the play offs and was interested whilst at Rotherham, I think it's fair to say we were interested.

Leigh never said we were interested, and Warne said he was going to the play off final just to see if anything would gain his interest. He obviously didn’t hence why he’s now at Oxford.

If he goes to Oxford and stinks it up, struggles to play at this level then credit to the recruitment team and Warne for side stepping what would've been a pointless signing.

If he does well, the fans are well within their right to ask questions - I'm not sure which would be worse: 1) We couldn't sell the club to him over a move to Oxford, despite already being settled in the area or 2) we can't properly evaluate talent - even when it's on our own doorstep.

No panic of course, but definitely a player to see how we develops at Oxford.

Do we know if he was a player we were actually interested in? If we were perhaps Oxford offered him more (just because we have more financial clout it doesn't mean to say we used it. Maybe this is Oxford's top signing of the window and were prepared to blow more of their transfer budget than we were) or promised him more playing time.

still nothing to worry about though is there guys!

There have been 10 signings so far in League 1.

The window is not even open yet.

We have missed out on 3 players - one who wanted to play at a higher level, one who wanted to play for his hometown club, and one who we apparently weren't even interested in.

So no, nothing to worry about yet.

I am absolutely shtting myself. Without Ruben Rodrigues, we pretty much have no club left. This is worse than where we were last June. At least then, we still had hope we could be saved. Rubes has joined Oxford, he won't be coming to us. Game over.

Please can we stop with this rhetoric, our own journalists close to the club are stating this is untrue. In fact, there's only McGoldrick who we know we had concrete interest in, the rest is unreliable online rumours...

Yes we ideally want to be doing business quickly, however, it's better to wait and get the right players than rush and get the wrong ones. Not until the window slams shut can we judge whether it's been a success or not. Let's not start panicking A DAY BEFORE THE WINDOW OPENS

But surely we were after all 10.

I find it hard to believe we weren't in for Roberts, personally.

But I agree with your overall sentiment.

Nope. The transfer window opens tomorrow and there's lots of work to be done. All you will achieve by coming in to every transfer thread for a player we don't sign is to stress yourself out.

Chill. Enjoy the weather. See where we are come the start of the season. I bet we'll end up with a better squad than Oxford.

I suspect that once Notts got promoted we probably knew McGoldrick would end up there.  And similar with Roberts that once we missed out on promotion we would be 2nd choice behind a Championship club as it’s his natural next step.  And according to Dom at Radio Derby we weren’t in for Rodrigues.

As Arthur used to say, a lot of these rumours are “pure journalistic speculation”.

It all boils down to how much of an impact he has for Oxford next season. If he’s one of the best in the league then we should’ve offered him more money, more playing time and whatever else was required for him to sign. If he’s s****, the club were right not to have an interest in him.

We get to see in real time how this plays out because we know the club have watched and evaluated him - to in the end sounds like we deemed him not good enough so let’s see if that’s the case.

Do we?. Was he ever even on the radar for us?.
