Because Hourihane had a Derby County shirt on.

I don’t think we can have any real complaints about the officials today (funny how we feel like that when we win ?). The only odd thing was when he booked Roberts for time wasting. Yes, he’d been taking longer over the throw ins than he should have but, he was finally booked for taking too long when the Rovers threw the ball at him and there was now way he could have caught it to get on with the throw in.

Players were playing in positions that suited them. We scored 4 goals and won the game. It's no coincidence. We simply do not have the players for 352 and we shouldn't go back to it. It's clear for everyone to see.

And I think Warne knows that. He said as much in his interviews .. as in, it works, but with what we have we can’t do it every week. What I love about 4 at the back and wingers is you get partnerships between winger and his back man. Never liked a loan striker especially if you are playing nervous across the back stuff. Strikers need foils / support. Unless you have proper runners like Bryson in his pomp, a loan striker is desperation city. 442 or 4411 or 4231.
433 works but specialist types of player is way more important - it’s fragile if you have injuries or lack depth of squad as does 3 at the back. Real wing backs are a rare breed. Lowe and Byrne are the only ones in recent times that had the full set of skills required.

(IMO ?)

That’s probably the best game this season so far.  Superb first half and straight at them from the off.  The pressing by Collins, NML & McGoldrick was excellent.  3 great hat-trick goals plus a goal from a corner.

One word for the 2nd half - professional.  The last 20mins or so was really good game management.  Pushed it as far as we dare with time wasting which did result in a couple of bookings, but so what.  Kept the shape and made them play in front of us.

More of the same please ?!!

Threw it twice in the same incident

Hands up on Bird and Hourihane too.

I didn’t think they’d ever work as a pair, especially in this division, so fair play to Warne for getting a tune out of them.

I don’t think they’ll work every single game. But they did the business today and hopefully they can maintain this level of performance in the coming games.

The best 1st half I've seen this season, Closed down chased harassed and 4 goals, 2nd half it was a game that needed management and we got it, 45mins+ of time wasting at our leisure about time we stuck it up em Mr Mainwaring, Loved one incident if any one else saw it, Ball goes to McGoldrick on the by-line and he palms it into his feet right in front of the linesman who never saw it.

A formation that was forced onto PW through injuries and didn't we just love it, Their 1st goal I pointed a finger at Wildsmith for not coming to collect for the cross, Penalty I've been told was a Pen as someone who saw it on TV said it was, Surprised that Rovers never went for it late on, Quite happy playin with the ball across their backline looking for an opportunity...that never came.

Yes McGoldrick rightly given MOTM but I'm liking Roberts at LB the more I see him.

Final note, The Ref added 6mins, We get a corner with 1min left...play it short and he blows for full time, Me thinks he was a little miffed ?

Really good today, the team really pulled together and got a great result. Team spirit is a marvellous thing , it really helps in my humble opinion. I noticed a nice little gesture at the end of the match today. When Dobbin missed that chance in the second half I saw the disappointment on his face and his head dropped a little, I felt he thought he may  have let the team down( he hadn’t), then he was subbed. When the team came down to the south stand at full time, one of the coaching staff went over to him and it looked like he encouraged him to go and take the applause, his face broke into a smile and he then came down and indeed took the cheers.  Sometimes little things mean a lot.
