Being a Derby county fan all your life is like being in the series ‘Stranger Things’ with a proper Derbyshire girl in Kate Bush singing in the background the song ‘Running up the hill’ - we were even in the third division in the 80s as well ?‍♂️

Quite. Probably “running up the hill in treacle” might be more apt. And Kate Bush a Derbyshire girl?. She’s from Bexleyheath.

Appleby sold to Morris in 2015, can anyone recall the price compared with what may be forking out now...

I seem to recall that in the negotiations they were valuing the club at £50m in the Championship and £100m in the Premier. This was just four months after the QPR defeat at Wembley. We were fancied for the top two and they agreed a price halfway between the two figures at about £75m.

Assume the £75m was the club including PP, reading current offer could be around £50m for club plus stadium, albeit lower down the Leagues.

Whoever buys it now they will not be getting the relative bargain that Morris did for a club on the verge of the Prem. They are paying to wipe out his debts and then have to refurbish the squad and academy, instead of inheriting a team with great potential. Morris is just playing selfish hardball to recover some of the cost of his own folly. It speaks volumes about his integrity, or rather lack of.
