what's the point in having an academy if the players are mothballed as opposed to bringing them through?

Some will sink, others will swim.

Not all players come through an academy are going to make it. Some are there to make up numbers for the academy squad so we can put out a team. Throwing them all in isn't right isnt right

Some players develop faster than others, some burst onto the scene & can play every game, some need bedding in, some are ready at 18 years old some don't develop until they're 22 - 23 year old. Thats both physically and mentally

It isn't about chucking them in and seeing if they sink or swim. You could chuck someone in & they sink but they could have well swam with the right guidance and bedding in.

We're reliant on throwing in too many academy products in one hit. Some aren't ready for a 46 game season & it'll be damaging to their development

It also shouldn't be morris' decision that academy players are ready. He employs far more qualified people than him to decide what is best for our team.

Im not saying mothball youngsters i just dont think its fair to throw 18 year olds in to match day squads potentially before they are ready

I’m usually in this camp (don’t protest unless it’s necessary) and have been until yesterday. And you’re right, protesting does seem pointless as Mel is openly trying to get out.

However, I still think protesting has a purpose in this instance. Mel worries that protests could potentially “put off” investors and those groups attempting to takeover the club. On the flip side, it also shows any potential new owners that the fans care about the club and won’t just accept it being run in a bad way. Just a thought…

The idea that fans protesting would be the thing to put off potential owners as opposed to the dire financial state of the club, years of mismanagement, terrible relations with the EFL and Mel holding out for a bumper pay day to recoup some of his losses is frankly laughable.

Potentially "put off" new investors etc. is just a smokescreen. MM in all his vanity won't be able to stand to hear fans protesting against him,his comment if fans start chanting "Mel out" he might just walk  says it all.

How can he walk..? If he walks away he gets nothing from his investment.

He would have to fold the Company and walk away and he can't do that he would of lost too much and still owns Pride park. It's all him trying to prevent a mass of people singing sack the board. No point in doing it as he already knows no one (Or most fans don't) wants him here.

The facts are the only way he can deal with it is:

1) Pay the HMRC what it's owed.

2) Make peace with the EFL and submit accounts to the standard they require.

3) Pay the wages until a custodian of the club has been deemed acceptable by the EFL.

What I don't get is, if he owns the Ground and we lease it, then we have to pay a Million in Rent yet we will still never own it. Sounds like the Coventry situation to me. I did think that the council maybe able to step in as I guess there is a preservation order on the ground to the people of the city but I don't get how we would be able to lift the Charging Order on the ground and that would mean a CCJ to lift it, which means if MEL walks away a CCJ would be passed onto Mel himself correct?

What have I said could be wrong? Sorry, confused by that. Before and during the game, the fans should cheer the team on and offer support to the players. After full time, when the game is played, there is a time to show our unhappiness.

This suggestion is a counter point to what Mel supposedly said in the meeting, when he suggested any protest could put potential investors off.

Yes that is usually fine but not with the erratic reception/wifi on holiday this week. Have fleeting moments of 2 bars reception to catch up!
