Now I don't want to sound like a 'Killjoy', but with DC being a wealthy, local businessman who is also a life-long Derby County fan, have we not all heard something not too dissimilar to this before from a certain Mel Morris?  Just sayin'!

I alluded to this last night. Clowes is a reluctant hero/owner, whereas Morris' ownership was fuelled by Ego and delusions of grandeur. It was evident at Breakfast Club that he wanted to be regarded as a god-like being for splashing his cash.

I am convinced Clowes will become owner out of love and duty.

  2. I didn't realise how much this was affecting me. I was convinced I wasn't that bothered. I've lost my grandmother last week and have other issues and thought there were more important things in life.

I'm not too ashamed or masculine to admit that after reading those Clowes press release snippets on Twitter, I realised my eyes had welled-up a little and I have let out a massive sigh. I now want to have a celebratory drink and put this nightmare behind me.

I am however realistic enough to know that the football side could well be a struggle for a few years, and I have no expectations, but to know that my home-city club, a club I followed home and away for most of my adult life, a club that I committed thousands of pounds to over the years, a club that has made me laugh, smile, groan and sob, will continue to exist means a lot to me personally.

    Cheers boys and girls.

    Ooops. ?

I said it was fake. It was obvious baiting regarding CK's love of Golf and Nadal! ?

All you FUDs knocking Nixon! He was right all the long..... wasn't he? Somewhere in his 3-2-1* Cryptic Riddles he said exactly this would happen

*3-2-1 was a bizarre TV show in the 1980s with Dusty Bin and Ted Rogers. It was surreal.

Too many times have I/we have got our hopes up, just for them to be obliterated

I see a few posters saying similar to this. I must be different, I only regard the Kirchner one as ever being close. I never thought the Fake Sheikh or Alonso ones were legitimate, so when they collapsed, I was unaffected.

  5. I know nothing about Clowes and have no inside information.

My gut instinct tells me that Clowes, if he rescues the club, is doing so out of love and duty for the club, and not to massage his own ego or reputation.

I can get on board with him being a reluctant owner, a bit like someone becoming carer for a poorly relative and if it goes through and he owns the club, I hope sincerely that the toxic element of our 'fan' base either stay away or grow up.

I very much doubt the EFL would allow us to anyway, but I also instinctively feel that this is more about saving the club than splashing out on players and chasing a dream.

The club/team COULD find inspiration from any feel good factor from the terraces, so I hope that the fans give it.

I was always impressed by Sam Rush in person but in terms of the deals we did, I was extremely disquieted that there was so much overlap between his agency and the club. The question seemed to be "Whose side was he on?" I don't know the answer.

to be fair, they are one of the bigger agencies with a big share of players on their books, there could be some coincidence, but then, looking at the history of who those players might've been... Hmmm.

There's a disproportionate number of Range Rover drivers in the Premier League vs Peugeot 105/6/8 drivers. Hmmm.

I do not want Sam Rush anywhere near our club. He is the start of the reason we are in this situation.

not sure how you come to that conclusion Rynny!

The start of our problem(s) was MM sacking SMc, this was followed by MM sanctioning PClement signings, this was followed up by MM sacking PClement, this was followed by MM sanctioning NPearson signings, this was followed by MM sacking NPearson and so on... you catch my drift.

I firmly believe that under Sam Rush's stewardship, the signings were more shrewd, the football better and the hiring and firing more sensible.

When MM took the power from Sam Rush, that's when it fell apart.

How is not the same team change names that is all the difference is.

no, not at all. AS far as I know, Wimbledon didn't go into administration, didn't write off debt, didn't owe anyone money, wasn't on the verge of going out of business. Quite simply, Winkleman realised there were too many clubs in London and the fan catchment area put a ceiling on their potential attendances, so found a new town (soon to be a City) without a football club and decided to move the club. There was talk of moving them to Dublin at one stage.

The sitiuation couldn't be more unrelated to Derby's situation!

  9. The EFL will be forced to intervene and concede that the new owners hold player registrations. If they fail to do this, there is no precedent or valid reason why Derby should pay football debts.

As an example, Derby County's new owners cannot be forced by EFL to pay the remaining balance of Bielek's transfer fee to Arsenal if they do not then rule that Derby County's new owners DO own Bielek's registration.
