Indeed - if you look at the wealth inequality figures for 2022 - Russia is in the same ballpark as the US and the UK. Yes it's only one measure, but a pretty telling one. Given the number of oligarchs we hear about, I was expecting their rating to be far worse than ours

Worth pointing out that I didn't read the stuff about price caps etc as a defence of Putin in any way. It was in response to a questions about what sort of life the average Russian citizen experienced, and whether that would make them favour "western democracy" over what they have now.

    I don't see it as a defence. I said I couldn't give a duck. It's like the Saudi regime.

It really doesn't take the brightest leader to make the average person better off when you have huge natural resources that are high in demand.

I don't see caps on prices and a few classes for old people as a something that should be applauded. It should be the minimum expected. As is not going to war.

The most incompetent leader could do what Putin offers his population, unless someone can help me convince me otherwise.

  2. Putin is a Bamford. I couldn't give a duck if he capped sunflower oil prices or gave kids some money for New Year.

He is currently invading a country, sending young lads to their death on a lie. He's killing civilians, he's killing economies, he's killing a democracy.

The bloke doesn't like the West. He doesn't like democracy, he doesn't like freedom of speech, he doesn't like opposing views and he certainly doesn't recognise he is currently committing War Crimes. He poisons and imprisons dissenters.

Going on about the hypocrisy of the West does not excuse the invasion of another country. Going on about how the average Russian is better off than they were 20 years a go, when they have enormous oil and gas reserves does not paint the whole picture. Dianne Abbott could probably run up a reserve even with her Maths skills.

Zelensky is going to die. He knows that. It's the only way he has a chance of saving his country. Its the choice he took. If he fled, we would already be seeing Russian flags high above buildings in Kyiv.

All politics is divisive in the modern world with a click bait MSM trying to fill 24hr news and social media sites such as Twitter.

The Ukraine remaining independent but neutral and having a working relationship with Russia was my preferred option before Putin invaded.

Been following this guy on you tube for a few years as he travelled through the old soviet countries making videos though now trying to leave  the Ukraine.

Same here. Bald's vlogs have been amazing over the years. Learnt so much from him about old Soviet nations.

I get that bit, but I was more questioning the OP who seemed to be suggesting that he was somehow forced into it (beginning a full scale military invasion of a neighbouring country) by "the west".

What did we do? And why did it trigger this now?

The current government is becoming more and more Westernised. If Putin waits, he knows the current populations will be more and more against any military action or attempts to install his own puppet government. I'm guessing the NATO talks in December and how they went was another factor.

    Now or never.

    You alright Hun?

    No I'm not.

We've got people defending him for getting himself banned for 3 and a half games that are all winnable when the squad is stretched to the maximum as it is.

Defending him because he plays best when on the edge. We didn't need him on the edge. We were playing ten men. Stay on the ducking pitch.

Anyway, let him go on holiday. Or perhaps he will stay and support the team he is captain of.

Does this mean we can buy stuff in the concourse tomorrow now ?

I appreciate this is a joke, but the Bamford nearly took us to the wall. He's forced the sale of our brightest stars and the reason Ebosele and Lawrence could leave for free. And could be the man who forces us down to the third tier.

Buy nothing. The bloke is a Bamford

It won’t let me add the link but has anyone seen the Matt Le Tissier interview about the vaccines? Saying what everyone else is thinking about all the young sports players around the world suddenly having heart issues. Not only sports stars it’s happening week on week at the football grounds too and all they fob it off with is “it never used to get reported” In my near on 35 years going to games i recall one occasion it happening. Something deffo isn’t right!

I haven't taken much notice, but a manager of a Football League club spoke out about it. Might have been Johnson at Sunderland?

Anyway, I think it was specifically the booster jab he said was causing the issues.

Like I say, I didn't really read it beyond the title.

One person's 'controversial' is another person's 'pants on head stupid'.

Agreed, the points should be debated, but when a topic or subject is proven beyond all reasonable doubt (e.g. Ivermectin not helping one jot, the benefits of vaccines far exceeding the side effects etc), the debate shouldn't continue to rumble on, because there is no longer a debate to have.

And this is a 'pants on head stupid' post.

You don't shut down debate because some people think it should no longer be debated.

You would have been quite happy shutting down the debate on the virus coming from a Chinese Lab 2 years a go. So would all of social media. Actively banning posts stating the above. Dangerous. Extreme.

Because a couple of these claims below get brought up on here....

"Joe Rogan has been criticised for helping spread misinformation on his podcast.

Spotify reportedly paid $100m (£75m) in 2020 for rights to The Joe Rogan Experience, which is the streaming service's top podcast. It is reportedly downloaded almost 200 million times a month.

On the show, the US broadcaster hosts a wide variety of guests who discuss their views on a range of topics - but some episodes have featured false and misleading claims.

Here are four of them fact-checked"

Reads like a list of misinformation from a year ago. Vaccines stop you getting re-infected. Cloth masks work. It didn't come from a Chinese lab. You won't need booster jabs. There won't be vaccine passports. It's about protecting the elderly, we will only lockdown to protect the NHS. It's just a circuit-breaker. We haven't been having parties in the middle of all this.

Today 800,000 re-infections have been added to the official figures. That skews a lot of stats.

Who knows what to believe. But let's not stop the conversation happening. Don't protest to silence. Debate them.

I'm still not sure Q are putting their position entirely in the public domain.  Feels like of each parties announcements, they're the ones still not telling all.

Even today, they've said they've presented 3 options to fund the rest of the season and seeing what the EFL say regarding them.  Why not tell us what the options are?  Is it so if/when they get knocked back they can put their own spin on it?

They put options forward before, i.e getting the preferred bidder to take them on without trying to resolve the Boro/Wycombe issue, which wasn't acceptable.  Is that one of the offers again now, in the hope things have changed? Be nice to know.

It states why in the statement.

'Whilst we have tried to be as clear and open as possible, there are matters, for reasons of confidentiality and sensitivity, which cannot be shared and we hope supporters and the media will understand the reasons for this'

I think this is about as bleak as it can get, because everyone has now dug their heels in. It's a stalemate. And that is the last thing you need with the clock ticking...

But that's exactly what you would expect with a deadline set.

Everyone has put their position in the public domain. I'm sure they've all been urged and had pressure put on them to release these statements. They all have done that now.

The next step is who will blink first. Its going to be a long 11 days. I'm not worried, though.

I think the outcome will be a nominal payment to the claims and we will have proof of funds until the end of the season.

Also, I've just realised SG has the audacity to ask how much the ongoing charges are from the administration, because he believes they are earning money he could be claiming, without realising his actions are making that bill go up daily.

    ducking moron.

  12. My conclusion for what its worth.

    Steve Gibson still hates MM.

Steve Gibson has been given so much perceived power by the EFL not telling him to pipe down through fear of being sued that he thinks he has the right to get answers to those questions.

The administrators have no choice but to be ballsy and take this down to the wire.

The statement form Middlesbrough is about as unprofessional as I've ever seen, especially since they have tried to write it professionally. It makes me despair we have to deal with someone who has the ego to put that out in the public and think it looks good.

Its been 3 days since MPs, media and all of our fans found out just how incompetent the EFL are, confirming many of our suspicions. We have 11 more days. That's plenty of time for many more twists and turns.

We just need to realise, that for us to come out of this, the administrators will take us all the way to the deadline.
