Run in to play offs...

I think we'll miss out to Peterborough as they've got an easier run-in. But as experience tells us that is no guide to whether they'll be successful or not. The biggest issues we've got are our own; our performances are below par and the players look tired. We look blunt in attack and leaky at the back. I think we'll miss out on the last day of the season unfortunately but next season would mean a relegation even if we did go up so maybe it's better to stay down and build some momentum next season.

Easier run in? They've got Ipswich and Barnsley to play. The only top side we have left is Sheffield Wednesday and that's the last game of the season.

A fair question to ask yourself...

Would you rather scrape promotion through the playoffs, struggle to recruit in the summer due to restrictions and face a near certain relegation battle, that could see us back in league 1.

Or

Miss out on playoffs entirely, give Warne (or whoever) time to build a team, have another go at it next season and hope we do it with all restrictions lifted?

Promoted and relegation battle all day long ,, another season with our hands tied and the players and fans fighting together to beat the odds and unfairness,,, what’s not to like

I think we'll do it. We're only 7th on goal difference and we've been inside the playoffs for most of the season. I believe we're a better side than Peterborough and we will show it in the run in. Time to step up and get back on track.

I hope you’re right but results over the last two months suggest we’re not a better team than Peterborough.

I'd take the promotion.  A clown with size 15 shoes tied together could stay in that division.  Any level of competency sees you ok and the financial difference is considerable.

Don’t talk about Collins like that! Remember how we stayed up on the last day thanks to Marlon Pack. That was with Rooney as manager , Captain Tom , and the rest. The Championship is never easy.

All we can do is focus on ourselves. We need a strong finish to the season, it’s within our capability to get 12 points from these last 6 games, that’s win all 3 home games, and win 1 lose 2 of our away games. If we do that and Peterborough still get 6th spot then fair play to them. It will be disappointing, it would be the joint lowest league finish in our entire history (7th) but from where we were with the size of squad we have would still be a creditable effort.

Me personally, I still think we’ll be at Wembley on the 29th May.

People writing us off when we're level on points with the team in 5th is bizarre.

It's a hugely unpredictable league. Anyone making predictions is simply guessing. Anyone can take points off anyone else and as Warne has said multiple times, it'll be about the tiniest margins. One could argue that we shouldn't be scrapping for 6th place but we are where we are.

I'm glad we are still in the hunt and hope we can take it all the way to the last game (or, yes, ideally, have our spot guaranteed with a couple of games to spare!!)

A couple of our better players coming back into form in the last 6 games could make all the difference. Let's try to enjoy it.

FGR beat Sheffield Wednesday! That is just one fact, and there are plenty of others, that should mean the opinions stated in your post can safely be ignored

Sheffield Wednesdays players want hanging out to dry for losing to that shower, no offence to them like. The Wendies are making almost as much of an arse of this league as we are.

We've got MK Dons (we should win) Portsmouth (outside hope of a playoff spot), Burton (who we struggle against) Exeter away (they sit in 11th) and Sheffield Wednesday. The only fixtures I really think we definitely should be picking up 3 points in are MK Dons and Bristol away given our current performances and form.

They've got Cambridge away, Accrington Stanley away, Bristol Rovers at home and Exeter at home with Barnsley away and Ipswich at home. They should win Cambridge, Accrington, and Bristol Rovers. I think on paper they've got an easier set of games.

Sadly I think this season and the increasing distance from the major trauma the club faced suggests something more along the lines of “fans fighting with each other” rather than the unity of our last couple of seasons in the championship.

If we scrape promotion via the play offs then get battered week in week out next season in the championship the voices questioning Warne’s appointment and security in his role would surely increase in number and volume. Which rather than being galvanising for the fan base and team would prove more detrimental.

If we stayed down and then put together a team that can challenge for  automatic promotion next season, winning most weeks the fan base in general would be happier and united behind the team and manager, as per the unbeaten run this season.

All ifs, buts and maybes, however specifically on your point about the players and fans fighting together to beat the odds, I think that moment was uniquely linked to the very survival of the club in the face of those challenges (admin, points deductions, the march, embargoes etc) and we’re now back to a more typical situation where varying views and opinions will compete amongst the fan base.

EDIT - I should add that I’ll enjoy the ride whatever happens, league one or championship next season bring it on. Realised the above is a fairly pessimistic view for me, maybe it’s the sugar crash from all the chocolate eggs 🤔

I don’t think many folk are actually writing us off anymore than those predicting 6th are writing Peterborough off. Simply expressing an opinion on where we think we will finish.

I know I won’t be popular for saying this, but I don’t have much enthusiasm for a play off spot. You want to be going in on a run of good form, not a big dip.
Wembley against Villa was soul destroying, we gathered in Covent Garden having gathered the troops, sang and danced, then arrived at Wembley to find ourselves out sung, less organised and let down by Frank. We peaked too soon.
I want us to go up from 1st or 2nd next year. If that could be arranged. Thank you.

Covent Garden was a giant hoot though. Where else can you stand next to a Rams Fan/Porn Star whose tadger is insured for $1m whilst watching another Rams fan stand on the top of a phone box and strip naked to reveal a tadger that wasn’t insured at all 🤷‍♂️. All that did happen.

I agree regarding the Villa final. Even before the game had started we were out sung by Villa. I know we were going into the game on a poor run of form and were deflated by the bizarre team selection but we were still high from the euphoria of the Leeds win and there were roughly the same number of Villa and Rams fans. I can’t put my finger on why it happened but I do seem to recall they had a larger block of singing fans. Perhaps they just do have more singing fans or it was something to do with how the tickets were sold but it was disappointing.

If that's your idea of a hoot then the Purple Mamba's only a short stroll for you.

Saves on the rail fare. No football shirts allowed allegedly though.
