Okay controversial post

we are not that important anymore

we weren’t that important when league was founded 140 years ago

accrington Stanley ….. who are they? The league would have existed without Derbyshire county cricket club footballing section and will still exist without Derby County

we are no more than a member of a club of 72 that has new members lining up

I imagine the money and fan base that was needed to start the league must have deemed us pretty important.  There were plenty of other clubs lining up to start the founding league as well.  Jesus wept.

Dont know if this an attempt to rationalise it to yourself for mental health reasons but think you're better off keeping it to yourself.

One club football obsessed city, gates between 20k & 32k in the appalling circumstances we find ourselves, twice League Champions in living memory, founding member of the oldest league in the world. We are important to not just Derby, Derbyshire & our thousands of fans but the fabric of football in this country.

The reason oppo fans taunt us about liquidation instead of pitying us is because we are important. They envy us & want our attention. You think they'd do the same to a Reading or Bristol City or Middlesbrough? I don't. All a moot point anyway as we're not going anywhere.

We are only important to ourselves -we may have a sizable support but to many we are irrelevant.Just look at the coverage of Chelsea in the last week compared to us and with 5Live reporting that there are over 20 interested parties looking to buy them it highlights where we are in the football chain.

Could have added just as a post in the Administration thread, would have fitted in very well with all of the other waffle ?

Perhaps if they all have a sudden interest in football, Quantuma could make contact but Oh yeah that would involve communication and effort

That's because they are playing in the Premiership and have won the Champions League, Europa League and Premiership title in the past 5-6 years. We're haven't been in the Premiership for the last 15 odd years we are just insignificant.

Sunderland whom have been in League 1 for the past 4 years have far higher levels of support than we do but they are even less significant. People don't give a rats ass unless you're in the Premiership end of.

Morris tried that and stuck all his money (and other people's coincidentally) on red and it came up black, happy days.

No buyer is interested in a club with history or a decent fanbase especially if they are doomed to enter League 1 with no squad and you're paying for the debts that someone else decided to rack up then piss off without honouring.

You'd have to be totally off your rocker. And people moan about Quantuma and why the takeover is taking too long. Really?

Depressing that I agree.

I wouldn't call us insignificant. The club has a history and a fan base that would put us easily in the top 20 clubs in the country which kind of by definition makes us significant. Considering we've been in the premier league for one terrible season in the past 15 years, have been administration for what feels like an eternity, survived on the last day of last season and are looking like we're going down this season and still regularly pulling in 24-26k is quite something. You give that set of circumstances to all but a handful of clubs and they wouldn't manage that. Yes, the changing of circumstances in football has led to a very tiny % of clubs hoovering up the majority of the attention but football is not and cannot be based on those 'super clubs'.

The word that does a lot of heavy lifting here. Some of the responses seem to be to the statement 'we're not important' which patently isn't true... but no we're definitely not that important.

If we 'die' there may be an immediate response outside of Derby, Derbyshire, Derby fans, people connected to Derby County in some other way... but it wouldn't last for long, give it a few months and we'd just be a precautionary tale that gets talked about once in a while

We are important to the people of Derbyshire and that is more than enough. Our importance to the rest of the country is irrelevant.

You mean my running a Littlehampton branch of the DCFC Supporters Club counts for nothing.  I am going to email the membership right away and inform them of our ‘irrelevance’. Actually I will tell her over the table at lunchtime. Sad day.
