Pro Warne

I was only making a crap joke. Plenty of people want Warne to stay, and that's entirely a valid opinion. You have to wonder if these people would call 999 if their house was on fire though, or just wait for things to get better.

You had me fooled. I know Leeds take more fans to away games than any other team on the planet so I assumed they’d now infiltrated the Derby ranks 😀. That would explain the disgusting behaviour by some of our number.

As long as you're not suggesting I'm a Leeds fan. I'll have you know I got taken aside by a manager at work last week and told to stop insulting Leeds in the group chat.

Definitely too early to sack him. If Clowes sacks him, I’ll be shocked. So much time to turn it around and improve. So many other factors other than the manager which affect results.

So many cautionary tales of managers sacked and things not improving. So many where clubs retain a manager and they go on to be successful (many in significantly deeper mires than we are currently in under Warne).

I think we’re about to see a run of results

We found him ladies and gentlemen. The one remaining pro Warne Derby fan.

Does this mean you are David Clowes himself?

Warne will come good. Wait and see.

The scenes in May next year will be glorious. Warne leads us to promotion and Waghorn and the lads are on the Wembley turf in front of the Sky cameras belting out ‘Paul Warne, your football is s***’.

I’m looking forward to it more than my honeymoon in Antigua.

Anyone else still willing to give this time? Don’t seem to be many on the forum.

I don’t think we’ve been that bad (albeit I wasn’t there yesterday). Sounded like we had some good spells in the game though and we’ve had some brilliant performances (Peterborough, Blackpool)

Big squad turnover in the summer so willing to give it chance to come together. We’ve had some bad luck with injuries and decisions which will hopefully turn.

I think some of the anti-warne sentiment is the immediate anger of losing to so-called lesser clubs but, unfortunately, we were always going to lose games across a 46 game season so no need to panic

Lets give it time? We've given it this long and now the top 2 look like they might be out of reach. We give it longer and the top 6 might be out of reach, and then that's another season down the drain. More of our good players like Bird and Cashin will be gone at cut price deals and our squad will get continually worse.

Yes we haven't been that bad but we should be challenging for the top 2 minimum. I don't care if it sounds arrogant. We're the biggest club in the league.

the squad turnover only happened because Warne messed up the transfer window going for a formation change, which he has since abandoned.

I'm not sure better luck with injuries and decisions is going to be enough to change the fact we've been playing some of the worst, one dimensional, predictable and boring football in the clubs history.

Ultimately it's a decision for the owner. At the time I could understand his logic in appointing Warne. Actually many supporters spoke of a seasoned lower league manager being a good option, rather than letting Liam have a go on a permanent basis. I don't particularly like Warne but all said and done, we are mid table and a few points off the top six.  I don't see any prospect of a managerial change unless our league position worsens significantly, or the attendances at pride park drop drastically. Another consideration is that if Warne left the club, we could end up with someone worse.

You mean trying the manage the clubs finances reasonably within its means rather than splashing the cash? I must confess I haven’t heard the radio Derby interview to which you refer. What exactly did he say to indicate he had been promised money that was not forthcoming? (Genuine question

Towards the end of the interview Warne commented he knows(knew) what's needed to fix the lack of taking chances (decent striker). Radio Derby then discussed lack of promised funds in the summer was what he was probably getting at.  As we know, none of the Knight money became available (confirmed by Pearce at the fans forum as going into 'operating costs' of the football club) and Jordan Rhodes was in the building but never got over the line and we ended up with bargain basement Washington and then Waghorn by fluke.

As others have suggested, it's where the club is at and that's where we have to shop, at the Washington's store until we shift/contracts run out, of some/all of the high earning Hourahaine, Collins, NML, Barkhausen, Smiths  et al. Or Pearce opens his mini war chest in Jan - as I can't believe we don't have a pot to piss in following good cup runs, AVE 27k last season, 22k season tickets, and the Knight money. If we were that hard up they should have cashed in on Cashin but didn't.

For me things don't add up and if Warne was promised more than he got then I have some sympathy.  Bit only some lol, as the results and general play from the the end of last season to now have been woeful. The lack of a decent striker doesn't forgive general style and shape of the team. It's been pretty grim.

you keep saying that, but what actual evidence do you have? go on, just a tiny shred...

What actual evidence do you have that it won’t get better? Neither of us can dip into the future and see.

When you look at how we started the season, we lost two of our first three league games. Since then, we have won four and lost two in nine. We’re recovering, albeit slowly.

Saturday was our first loss in any competition since the beginning of September. The way some are carrying on, you would think we’d lost 10 in 12.

Our current form simply suggests that we’re recovering from a poor start, but that recovery is not yet complete for several reasons - injuries, inconsistencies amongst players, some poor decisions by the manager, a lack of cohesion, a lack of luck in some cases. Obviously we haven’t clicked as quickly as many would have liked, surely including Warne himself.

We can all see performances haven’t been good enough in the main, but it’s a long season and you don’t have to be the finished article in October, November or even January. I would be worried if we were in this position in April and time was running out.

As it is, we have 34 games to play and there is so much life left in the season. There’s no need for so much catastrophic thinking, especially when a team can click very suddenly and often in spite of any evidence pointing to it, and then they look a completely different prospect playing with confidence and belief and riding momentum.

Forget the purse strings this squad should be going better than they are. How a midfield containing the likes of Bird, Hourinane and Smith are not dominating games is beyond belief

No it's not beyond belief. There is not sufficient energy in that three to dominate games.

When you look at other teams getting there management recruitment spot on I do find myself somewhat envious

It didn’t need to be a so called L1 specialist to get us out of this crap division …just needed a manager to get what Liam had recruited playing cohesively with a few different plans

Leicester recruited a manager from city’s back room staff and watching there highlights this season in pains me to say they will walk the championship he is not a championship expert but knows how to play football and keep the ball …

not arrogance or entitlement at all but we should be the Leicester in L1 …the team to beat ….but quite simply we aren’t and here lies the problem Warne ( who I like ) will not all of a sudden change his own philosophy on how we play so I don’t see a happy ending

any manager that wants to play decent football on the grass and who can coach some resuits from the touch line is what I’d like to see

so a Eustace , Warburton or any manager that encourages domination of the ball and looking after the ball and getting the best out of our midfielders is my wish and hope Warne finds a more suitable team to manage
