Lee Gregory (again)

Presume this is the “senior” striker that Alan Nixon was talking about then… makes sense.

Apart from, of course, it doesn’t. We literally can’t pay any money for anyone, so how the hell would we sign him from Wednesday?! All we could do is offer to take him off their hands for free - what’s the chances of them just giving away their key striker? Seems an absolute nonsense link. The only way it could happen would be if Gregory went on strike to try and force a move here, so Wednesday had no choice but to let him go and get him off the wage bill. And why would he do that for what would be a sideways move at best.

Cannot see this one happening at all.

How can you test their resolve with an offer when all we can say is, can we have him for nowt or on loan?

I mean we’re not really putting them under serious pressure here to keep the player.

Unless someone was leaving for a fee. Pretty sure Nixon(?) has mentioned that would make it possible for us to spend something

Old Trampie demanded Prosecco for this info.  Reckons it wasn’t for him but someone called Beryl??? Anyway…

Reckons there’s three in this week.  One (free agent?) might happen after the deadline as the player is weighing up his options.  Another forward who can play across the line is a priority (from Cov?).  Says this one (Gregory) is unlikely despite the fact the player is keen as he’s dropped down the pecking order.  Final player will be versatile e.g. RB/CB or RB/RW.  Less of a priority with the emergence of Rooney but concerns over CB injuries and Kwaku’s readiness in the short term persist. PL loan the most likely route but competition fierce, more than one candidate.

More likely to use the unexpected gate receipts money from the yet to be played Liverpool game. We've already received tra fer fees this summer.

Everyone’s whining about Collins not scoring, Gregory only has one goal in a team that’s scoring plenty!

Scored 17 in 38 last season after only 2 in his first 9 games.

True, but I’d like to think Collins is capable of similar given his track record
