I can't see the point in spending money bringing back a 34 year old who'd probably demand a two year contract at a salary level that would probably be above the EFL maximum under our business plan. If he manages to overcome those hurdles, I'll eat my words, but I think what we really need is a time-served L1 CF. jimtastic56
May Contain Nuts
Was speaking to a Bristol fan before the game who said that Martin goes from brilliant to utterly useless on an almost game for game rotational basis. jimtastic56

Yeah and his high salary stays the same for both. We’re better off planning for the future. We need to be looking at young non-league strikers who have been scoring against thuggish defenders as that’s going to be the secret to success next season. Martin was great for us but we need to move on. Sheff Ram, europia, GB SPORTS and 3 others 3

roboto
So he would turn down his boyhood club earlier in the season to guide a team he had no affiliation or feelings towards to safety at the expense of Everton?

CWC1983
Smart managers know when to move when their stock is at its highest. If Burnley stay up I reckon he'd be very tempted, especially if the takeover drags on or the reality of what L1 looks like begins to set in. BramcoteRam84
He will not go to Burnley. Only risk of him going is Everton being relegated and going there and even then I’m not sure he would. This is assuming the takeover goes through if it doesn’t then of course, but we’d have bigger concerns, and anyway the takeover is still looking promising.
