You've underestimated a lot. For example, back in 2019, Boro paid £3.7m in rates, VAT, utilities and insurance. We also know utility rates have sky rocketted since then - add another £1m minimum to that figure. We're basicallly talking £5m, where your estimate is just £1m!

You also missed off matchday doctors/paramedics - another £400k

There's another £2m+ on maintenance and cleanign of the stadium and training ground.

That seems a very high cost for medical services in Match days?

"There is also a high level medical presence at games. The days of a couple of St John Ambulance volunteers are long gone and now there are three doctors and a full paramedic team on hand for emergencies to the tune of almost £400,000."

Sounds like QPR are in dire financial difficulties. They have been losing millions since they were last in the Prem . Add DCFC and Portsmouth , with money problems and you get a common denominator—Harry Redknapp.

Scarey figures from QPR - they've lost money every year since 1996......and despite spending nothing on signings last year, they managed to lose over £20M. You'd think that clubs would learn from what happened to us but I guess some just think it won't happen to them....

With clubs losing money week in week out, maybe its time to make a simple EFL rule. If a trading loss is declared (ie cash in v cash out) then its an immediate points deduction and business plan imposed.

Also at EFL level and premier league level and immediate salary cap, removal of parachute payments and all contracts to have relegation clauses identifying lower wage levels until the end of the contract if relegated to championship or lower.

Think there's some sense to your post. However, the argument against salary caps would be that then top players would swan off abroad. Something which the Premier League wouldn't be too happy with.

It needs FIFA to come up with a blanket salary cap and some nerdy formula to apply it to the different countries/standard of league, revenue made etc.

I wouldn't hold your breathe though.

There could also be a problem with a relegation clauses as it would give some clubs, with little or no chance of being relegated, an added attraction. Imagine if a player was offered a 4 year contract with someone like Spurs and another with a team like Ipswich or Southampton (assuming they get promoted). Even if they knew they wouldn’t get much game time with Spurs, they may chose them because of the much reduced risk of relegation and subsequent pay cut.

Didn't the Derby Ladies team take a hit when they were promoted...this ran into a few £100k, Only told this by a Moor Farm employee 🤷‍♂️

No, because they've not been promoted.

If they were, the cost of running the Women's arm of the club would increase by around £350,00-£500,000 because of the extra requirements moving from the amateur game (National League North, where they play now) to the Championship, which is semi-pro with some pro teams in there. And the revenue won't necessarily match the outlay.

Even in their current league Newcastle are full time professional, Forest are heading there, Wolves are heading there. They all have stated ambitions to be promoted to the Championship, and in Newcastle's case, the WSL. Not surprisingly, Newcastle are running away with the league and Forest, who won it last year, are second.

There is no rush on Derby's front at the moment to pump money in for this to happen, given the extra financial outlay should they be promoted.

And they still haven't fully paid the fine the EFL gave them for breaking FFP the season they beat us at Wrmbley.

Been treated very kindly in comparison to us, imo.

Say that to a QPR fan and they still think they were harshly treated, despite their owners threatening to ruin the EFL with years of court battles.

You have to laugh....

They took a hit at the end of the Mel Morris era with administration and all that - maybe what the guy was referring to.   Derby were actually one of the top funded clubs in that division a few years ago along with Forest but only for 1 maybe 2 seasons.

Wasn't on about QPR in particular.

Sure he wouldn't post these figures up without evidence, it's just the ones where he throws a hand grenade into the mix and then disappears when challenged on them.

Wish one of these days a club would take him on. Rather suspect though, in a lot of cases there’s no smoke without fire and clubs probably don’t want the scrutiny either.

Really dislike the bloke, because essentially he’s become an expert in others woes, never mind football finance.
