Rooney’s right, despite the thrilling finish it was a muted performance. Some positives - Plange showing confidence on the ball, Bielik back (fingers crossed), Allstop with 3 very strong saves, Festy showing how easy it is to wander around championship defenders. But too much to worry about - Curtis’ form, Bird’s form, a midfield run ragged, Knight struggling to play out of position, Byrne’s ball watching in defence. Stearman is good defensively but we miss Jags’ quality on the ball. And poor Joz, just when his mate is back. So much will turn on how long Bielik is out

Not a bad lad after all, perhaps?

Derby County fans could be forgiven for thinking Lyle Taylor has it in for their embattled club.

The on-loan striker scored his first Birmingham City goal in Sunday’s dramatic 2-2 draw, applying a neat finish that seemed to set Blues en route to an impressive victory.

Fifteen months ago the Rams were also the opposition when Taylor opened his Nottingham Forest account, in a 1-1 draw at the City Ground.

But as symbolic as both occasions were, the 31-year-old insists he has nothing in for the Pride Park outfit, quite the contrary in fact.

“It [scoring on his debut] was kind of written,” he told BirminghamLive. “With the way things are here - and I hope to God this football club survives because we don’t need any more of that happening in English football, any more clubs going under to anything like that.

“From a Derby point of view it was also kind of written they would stage some kind of fight back when they are backed by 32,500 people.

The last 2 games we have looked tired and sloppy. I think some struggled with the occasion yesterday. Not really surprising when we can’t rotate our threadbare squad. Great last 20 mins though and ? Bielik is ok….

Stearman was arguably our MOTM. Thought Curtis had a bit of an off day (by his own standards) but I don’t remember Stearman doing much wrong at all.

Thought he was partly at fault for the air challenge in the build up to their first goal…..
