Stuck to it though. Holmes anonymous play was the only bad point, we seem to have an issue with subs coming on out wide always coming central which increases that pressure. Massive game next. You say that, but what did they create?? That’s the most comfortable last 20 minutes I’ve seen from us since Stoke last season...

IronRam 140.6
I remember a poll a while back about whether WR should be manager. It was about 14 "Yes" and 250 "No" after I cast my vote. The 14 were the butt of a few jokes on the thread. Well...... I was one of the 14 and I don't care who knows it. ?

Srg
No surprise the game changed as it did from first to second half. Playing as we did in the first, it was impossible to keep that pressing intensity. Also, it’s far easier to when you’re 2-0 up to surrender the ball, and you expect your opponents to come at you. It did skew the end stats somewhat. Biggest change was no longer playing Knight in the number 10. It took a whole system change which was subtle yet drastic in result to do it but it achieved exactly what many of us anticipated it would in the corresponding threads over the past few days. We have conceded 1 shot on target in 3 matches and have come away with 5 points from 3 top 6 sides. Really shows the importance of becoming hard to beat and building on it. Dinnitdough
Rooney all the way, have been preaching it since Cocu left. Even if we lose a couple of games coming up. BramcoteRam84
Said this would be the first game we score 2. Also said Kazim would get first goal, but blew up my whole prediction with ridiculously thinking Swansea were going to score ? What a performance. Outstanding attacking play in the first half. We were unlucky to not be 3 or 4 goals up. Second half they couldn’t play through us and as a result they started going wide and we easily dealt with crosses due to our height advantage. Tactically both halves we were spot on. We restricted Swansea to their lowest number of attempts in a match since Steve Cooper took charge! We’ve conceded 1 shot on target in 3 games, 4 clean sheets in a row, 3 clean sheets in a row against top 6 sides. It is also now 7 points out of 9 against the top 3. We are proving we have the ability to be well clear of the relegation fight whether we have a takeover or not (although the takeover will be completed) McClaren has had something to do with this but make no mistake this is Rooney. He has to be given the job for me! I think tactically tonight was his best yet and great to see a return to 4-3-3!! As for the players tonight. Everyone to a man was excellent. Sky however were spot on with their Man of the Match, Bielik was absolutely outstanding, he looks every inch a £10m player at the moment. And Kazim - bargain of the season in the championship, an inspired signing.

Completely different proposition for the next 3 games, hoping we can stamp and authority on the games and score lots of goals. Hopefully Beliek can really control the games, that’s the key. That was Wayne's team and set up, as much as I like Mac it's doing a disservice to Wayne to not give him full credit, he's the one with his neck on the block after all. 2. I doubted Shinnie had such a decent performance in him as an all round midfielder rather than a defensive specialist, but he was very good in both directions. Came close to opening a topic but aware of my alcohol levels. I don't like this Mac this, Mac that, as you say it's a disservice to Rooney, Mac maybe there giving advice but this is on Rooney, about time he was given credit. I fear that whilst Mac is about, there will always be this lingering questions over how much influence he has on this team, comparisons to 2014. I'd accept the lingering doubts for the good of the club, which I believe Mac's presence can be, but tonight was Waynes doing. It wasn't even 4-3-3 in the Mac style, but it certainly worked first half. Even more impressive, we adapted second half and kept a good side at arms length with considerable ease.
