Asked a Blade colleague about him, "Looks to have good potential but incredibly raw, rabbit in headlights in his sub appearances, needs roughing up in lower leagues to find himself like Jebbison did at Burton."

It's really interesting how opinion varies so much amongst fans. I have friends and family who are diehard blades and they all rate him highly, raw but a better long term prospect than Jebbison. They also think that the Burton link is plausible as the club were impressed by Jebbisons treatment and development whilst on loan there.

We don't need a third keeper but we do need a RB & striker

Scott Loach signed as third keeper with coaching aspirations,  he said as much himself in his first interview.  He has been on the bench so far out of necessity.  As other posters have already pointed out,  Foulkes is young and will benefit from a loan.  We need a second keeper to provide both cover and competition for Wildsmith.  It's not that difficult to understand.  The fact that we also need a rb and striker is irrelevant to this signing.

Place in the UK I'll say Whitby. I know many people love it there, I thought it was naff.

Went in the autumn midweek, wasn't a particularly hot day. Every pub was rammed full, couldn't find anywhere for lunch. The fish and chips are nothing to shout about. Parking is a nightmare, even when we tried the park and ride we queued for 45mins as the buses were packed. I'd rather have visited the Abbey and gone to a local village for the afternoon.

I visit Whitby a lot, my daughter lives and works there. It is very Jekyll and Hyde, in the tourist season it's full of chavs from Leeds and Boro who swarm off the coaches and into their favorite attraction, the Wetherspoons on the harbour. The narrow streets are unbearably crowded, as is the beach.

We always go out of season, it is often very quiet, did you go at school half term? The beaches are near deserted apart from dog walkers and a lot of cafes and amusements etc shut. The fish and chip restaurants are best avoided, overpriced and average, but there are some chippies off the beaten track that are amazing. I agree about the parking, it's a rip off in season but out of season a lot of car parks, including the parking meters on west cliff are free. If you use the big car park near the station don't park near the steam train, I turned up in a Silver Astra and went home in a sooty black one! Like most tourist towns a bit of local knowledge and knowing where to avoid goes a long way.

LR will be using these matches to find what doesnt work, just as much as what does work.

teams will sit back then press. centre midfield is key this year. get that combination right, we win. last night we didnt. i sure LR would have seen this and learned from it.

personally i think in proper matches he’d go with either biliek/bird/smith/conner with mcG in a number 10.

harsh on tommo but i feel he gets bullied to easy. still young tho. hopefully he’ll learn

Whilst I'm optimistic for the coming season my only concern is whether we do learn and take on board anything from games like this. Last season we had 23 away games to learn and adapt, and final dead rubber against Blackpool aside, we failed miserably to do so and continued to slavishly follow the same tactics even when they were clearly not working.

Not a thing against Sibley or Stretton just believe they are not good enough hence they don't play much or score either. Neither seem sharp enough to execute those they get.

I thought Sibley and Stretton were tidy and linked up well together in the limited time they were on the pitch. Stretton did OK, admittedly not world beating but then I'm not sure what you expect from our 3rd choice cf. Sometimes it's fine to take a game at face value and say a player did OK, even if it doesn't fit your ongoing narrative. If you haven't got a thing about Sibley or Stretton, why do you repeatedly single them out?

Some of the chesterfield fans on the clubs Facebook fans are genuinely sad to see him go, only been there a season and he played most of it, 11 clean sheets I think ?

I'm not sure why they have let him go, there can't have been many better keepers in the national league last season unless they are just looking for someone younger. Paul Cook seems intent on completely clearing out their entire squad, I reckon they need to make a decent start or he will be cleared out himself.
