Another example of fans being an afterthought.

Chesterfield have opened up the previously not for sale front two rows, so anyone buying seats on the third row thinking they would be able to sit with an uninterrupted view will be losing out once again.

They sometimes cover the first 2 rows of both the away end and kop, they are close to the pitch and it helps with policing. I don't know why they've reversed it, maybe ticket sales have dwindled to the point that they're weighing up the risk of opening them against the expense of opening another stand

  2. Andy Dallas is currently out of contract and a free agent, Oldaker has just signed a new contract extension, King is good going forward but his positional play defensively can be poor, Dobra is good in flashes. It seems we are now advocating signing half the team that missed the National League autos by 20 points. Chesterfield can be a very good, exciting side one week and frustrating the next. The players individually are the same, they are probably playing at the level they are because of a lack of consistency

Why, can't they read? It's been very well publicised, I'll give them that.

All I hear from fans is excuses, when really, they could put themselves out for one 90 minutes for a player that's served the Club for ten years.

I hear what you are saying Angie but I think there are valid points on both sides of the argument. I will be going but only for the reasons that you rightly set out, but I am 'putting myself out' for Fozzy rather than looking forward to it really and it shouldn't be like that. A testimonial should be entertaining, a celebration, a fun day out for the family and a preseason friendly against Stoke doesn't tick any of those boxes. I can understand why there is more interest in the Matlock game, if you take loyalty to Fozzy out of the equation it is simply a more attractive day out

It’s a strange one regarding away fans for the three Chesterfield games.

Ours are on sale already from the Chesterfield ticket office only.

Sheffield United game says refer to United’s ticket office, but there are no details on there.

Sheffield Wednesday game says details to be confirmed, but again nothing on Wednesday’s website.

It's the same information in their ticket office, away tickets for Derby are only available online from Chesterfield but the other two are only available from Utd or Wednesday. It must just be down to the arrangements reached between the clubs

Not really that much difference, they play Sheffield Wednesday 8 days before us and Sheffield United on the Saturday afternoon before us, which will always be a more attractive time.

    tickets available for home fans,
    Sheffield Wednesday 2,969

    Sheffield United 2,880

    Derby 3,496

Yes you're right, I hadn't realised that home sales weren't much better for the other two, I was just surprised at how many were left today. They have over 3.5k season ticket holders so it looks like only around 1k have taken advantage of the extra week on sale. I've heard a few whinging that theyre not going because they can't have their normal seats in the east stand though!

It's a clever strategy for them to arrange games with 3 local teams guaranteed to take a big following and potentially allocate half the ground to them. The Wednesday game is a testimonial and I wouldn't be surprised if it matches the gate for Fozzy's

Another block opened up now, third of five, just under 1,000 sold.

There will be far more tickets available than we can fill. I've been to the ground today for tickets as I'm going in the home end with some Chesterfoeld mates. There is only the south stand(kop) and west stand available to home fans. The North (away) stand has been allocated to us initially and the east stand is empty. If we sell out the north stand they will then release the east stand by block.

Home tickets have been on sale for a week already to st holders and it doesn't look like many sold so far. They have games against Sheffield utd and Sheffield we'd too and whether we like it or not it looks like we are the least attractive draw of the 3 which is probably understandable really

  7. Got my tickets last night thanks to B4's heads up on here. I'm not really bothered what the lineup or result is, the joy of being able to buy general admission tickets online in a simple 2 minute transaction without having to jump through hoops, create multiple email addresses, buy memberships and attend every away game since Steve Bloomer was a lad has made it worthwhile already

Well, if two went up automatically,  they could have a four team playoff that mirrors the EFL arrangement,  would give an extra team something to play for and increased revenues too.

There are currently 6 teams in the playoffs so it would reduce it by one but I agree it would be a much more sensible and fair way of doing things, especially in a season where the top two exceed 100 points.

Congratulations to Notts, a team of that size and tradition should be in the football league but hats off to Chesterfield too, they were there very much as the supporting cast but gave everything and gave Notts a very hard fought game

I think when the promotion was set between the Conference and EFL there was a much bigger gap in terms of finance between the two.

The thought of relegation from the EFL would have been devastating. It was almost a death sentence for a club.

These days the Conference is much stronger, with some great teams, grounds and attendances. BT Sport coverage, too.

Only one automatic promotion place is ridiculous.  Should be two, with a third coming up through the playoffs.

I agree, one automatic promotion place makes it an incredibly difficult league to get out of. Increasing it to two has been mooted for next season though whether it happens is anyone's guess, I suspect the biggest stumbling block might be the EFL although it must benefit them having the likes of Notts and Wrexham back. The playoffs are loaded in favour of the higher placed teams though with 2nd and 3rd going straight to a one game semi final with home advantage

Andrew Dallas looks alright. Best player on the pitch was the Notts winger Aaron Nemane and it wasn’t even close.

Andrew Dallas is on loan from Solihull Moors, he is out of contract this summer. Agree about Nemane, there was a lot of effort but not much quality on show

LW / FW Warne has gone to scout Rodrigues and Langstaff today + winger at chesterfield

The only Chesterfield player remotely capable of playing in league 1 is Dobra, who happens to be a winger, but even that is a bit of a stretch of the imagination. Scored a good goal today though whereas Rodriguez looked nothing special and Langstaffe barely had a touch

Go figure The Office Crying GIF

I don't understand the Nottingham love in either.

Nor do I get the argument that they deserve it. They finished 23 points above Chesterfield I know, but had Peterborough lost on Sunday we would be playing Sheffield Wednesday tonight having finished 20 points behind them, would they 'deserve' to beat us in that scenario. It's been a freakish season in the National League, Chesterfield amassed 84 points themselves which is no mean feat.

If they read some of the posts on here saying that we've got no chance in the play offs, then surely they'd want to play us in the play offs.

Tactically, the 2 managers are in  a difficult position, Warne needs a result and will have to put his cards on the table risking showing his hand before the play offs. Moore, on the other hand, doesn't need a result and has to decide whether to go for it and risk showing his hand.

I remember us comfortably beating Billy Davies' Preston in the final game of one season, only for them to beat us in the play off semis shortly after.

I don't think Warne is in a difficult position, he is very limited in the choices he can make. Aside from the fact that we can't rely on favours from Barnsley and have to go for the win, there is no risk or jeopardy in revealing his hand because realistically there is only one hand to reveal. Apart from rotating a couple of players between the first 11 and bench our match day squad virtually picks itself. Our difficulties have been well documented and everyone including  Darren Moore knows that. Having said that I'm confident we can make the playoffs and beat them over 2 legs, if we're on it we're good enough on our day.
