  1. A man with a lot of talent and more than a few demons.

Weird thing was hearing their popularity boost in the twilight years of their career. One of the few ska bands I could listen to, if they are pigeon holed as that? Unsure as they were generational and and just a bit before my gig days, just remember a student mate I roomed with, never stopped playing their ruddy music and confess it was catchy.

Don’t think he’s ever said anything negative about us or his time here. If I remember right first year back at Chelsea, he even posted something on social media about wanting us to do well against Forest.

Don’t care what anyone thinks about his blip against Chelsea, which was harsh, he’s top class and I sincerely hope he has a great football career; eventually getting back in the England squad. Lose Walker, England might need his pace.

We may have only been one season in his career but I hope we see him back at Pride Park one day.

I'd like Spurs or Arsenal away as an opportunity for new, local-ish grounds. My only visit to The Emirates was for The Killers!

Ditto, weekender in London would be nice please, wouldn’t even mind Fulham, though tickets may not be as easy as in the past.

I was at Orgreave with a load of other football lads, All this after I was stopped at the top of the A38 junction 28 M1 when going for a day out with the family, Pulled me over and took my name and address, Car reg and checked the boot, There was food in there for a picnic, I was told that if that's for the miners...I'm in bother, All those Police wore white shirts...The Met Police.

A couple of years later we were in Lloret de Mar Spain, Met a couple from Annesley he worked at their Pit, He told me the reason they bailed from the NUM, They had just voted 2-1 for strike action, As they were coming out from the meeting a few coaches of Yorks miners turned up with threats of...you'd better vote for strike action, They already had, Then went straight back in and re voted to not take strike action as they weren't going to be bullied...hence the birth of the UDM.

Still to this day families are split, Friends are enemies, Scores are settled, Yorks police are still hated(or hated even more)as they were seen as doing Thatchers work

As for the Derbyshire miners I think their was only the Swadlincote open cast mine still open, No angst That I can remember as has been said above...most Derbyshire pits had closed

Remember it all being talked about round my way, Cadley Hill was definitely open, there was a spell when loads of strikers came down. I’d got mates who’s dads wouldn’t flinch at much, but I know it unnerved a few people, when some idiot chucked a lump of concrete from a bridge in Moira. That was the main talking point I can recall.

While a testimonial is warranted for such loyal service. It's an extended contract that the club should be putting in front of him and not waiting until his present deal runs out.

Exactly, don’t get why people feel inclination to knock his odd failing, at this level his strength is his reading of the game. If he can show adaptability to play consistently well enough at centre half, it may prolong his career another season, rather than having to bomb up and down the pitch at full back or wing back.

There’s not many more versatile players, we are likely to sign any better than Fozzy.

Course they are, theyve had the open top bus booked for months just incase

only taken them 150 odd million to make sure they made it past the magic number lol

tbh theyve had remarkable luck in their wins

west ham absolutely battered them. Missed a pen and hit the wood work 3 times

liverpool were missing thiago, darwin, diaz and jota… aka majority of their creative spark and have been bang out of form cos of it and still missed a sitter through vvd that would have changed the game

palace yesturday .. miss a pen

goals change games , theyve been let off the hook numerous times… to their credit theyve taken advantage of it but theyre really are jammy f******

To be honest, I just happened to see their game highlights last on m.o.t.d, not really been watching them, every now and again the Prem catches my attention. They’ve had a realignment at where they’re at, no longer title or Europe contenders (big lol). Maybe they’ll find a good starting 11 out of the 3 teams they could field, still think their recruiting could hinder them, Cooper will always be tempted to tinker away every bad result with all those bodies; it’s not conducive to finding a settled pattern.

Not scoring enough and prone to leaking goals, will still be a challenge, as Wolves May find form with a their new manager, (they have good players), Everton need to ditch Lampard, if they do, I think they’ll pick up. Southampton could still struggle along with Bournemouth. Of the others down there, Leeds, Villa, maybe West Ham? Being objective, still hard to see Forest finishing above 3 more teams right now.

Their jam may run out, but let them have their glory yesterday, not like it matters to us.

Probably out Looking for new tenants along with the rest of them.

now they dont have us living rent free in their heads they need something/one else to rattle around in there

Probably basking in the glory of their recent points all in fairness.

Just watched the Gumps highlights, could probably have gone either way yesterday, bad penalty miss by Zaha (odd he took it, having missed 3 out of the last 4), tik tok man wasted the chance to produce another cringe, missed a couple of good chances. They are in the stragglers pack now, could be close, still think they’ll struggle to stay up myself.

Yet Maguire will still get in despite only 3 league starts this season.

Maguire, Stones, Coady, Dier and White as the CB options then?

Never mind the 3 games, watching the Germany game you could hear the gasps in the ground at his c*** ups, Southgate should have done him a favour and left him out, but everyone knew he wouldn’t.

Instead Maguire is now a scapegoat ready and waiting to happen.

His decision making is stunningly good. With his feet as well as everything else. If he can reach it, he catches it. If he can’t he punches. If he has a man close and in space he lays it off. Positionally he seems superb. Some of the fine keepers we’ve had recently have been less than reliable. Allsop though did a good job but we have found his equal in Wildsmith.

Agree with all that, we know keepers make odd mistakes, which sometimes puts them right under the microscope, as so often change games.  When I watched him against Rovers, I wondered if he could have come out more for one of their goals, but it was irrelevant to the end result.

My point though, is for someone who cost us nothing, given Owls fans comments, I had fairly low, steady at best expectations. Joe has surpassed that because like all good keepers, he’s keeping us in games and will earn us bonus points along the way.

He’s definitely the best signing so far for me, though NML runs him close.

What is our best new signing so far?

What is re-signing of last years players?

    Wildsmith.

Probably deserves a thread on him but found this for starters.

So hope we get to tie him down to a longer deal in time, he was massively underrated by Owls fans and yet he’s flourishing here, now he’s a regular keeper.

This is his big breakthrough season and he’s got plenty of time on his side as a keeper. We keep finding decent keepers and Joe is going to be right up there.

Yet only Chester made more successful tackles than him today. Doesn't bode well when "the worst tackler he's ever seen" is winning the ball back more than most others on the pitch.

Maybe the problem is putting an AM at LWB. ?

    This.

How many times does he ever get to play a sustained run of matches, as an attacking midfielder behind a front man or pairing? Don’t want to over defend him, he does always seem to be the fall guy when the team struggles though, when he’s often asked to play out of position and people wonder why he’s ineffective.

In interviews he cast some doubt on how injured they might be, and their willingness to play (imo). He said it all in a joshy way, which perhaps is his idea of humour, or motivation, but I don’t think it does anything positive to dig at players in public. Sort them out behind closed doors is my viewpoint.

I’m trying hard to resist any judgement of Warne, albeit yourself, @LeedsCityRam and @angieram have expressed thoughts and sentiment that are likewise lowering my expectations. I’m starting to dislike all this jokey stuff about players, the odd comment fine, just don’t recall the likes of Cox or Smith constantly coming out with such quips to motivate players.

One player though I very much doubt he’ll dig out is Curtis, not just because he epitomises effort and determination, but he’s media savvy. If he makes waves with Davies, I think we would soon have a sense of the mood in the camp.
