Last roll of the dice to avoid relegation, hoping for that new manager bounce.

Risky move when the guy that has been sacked is the clubs top goal scorers Dad.

Even riskier when of the 5 remaining games, next 2 matches are home Burnley (need them on beach but they’ll fancy being confirmed champs) and Luton (need a win for chance of catching blades!). Oh and final match Huddersfield away, they’ll need Warnocks team to be safe, I know who I’d back otherwise there.

  2. Don’t worry about it, your lot get relegated, after a dismal start Ainsworth gets sacked to be replaced by Colin who appoints Bobby Zamora as coach, we both end up in the playoffs next year, make the Wembley final, ageing David McGoldrick comes off the bench with the scores level and a ricochet goes in off his backside for an 89 minute winner to the Rams.

Amidst the wild celebrations, Didzy runs across to Bobby drops his shorts and tells him to kiss it.

All wishful thinking of course, except the first bit. I’ll be truly gutted to see you drop 🤥

Let down by the 9 players behind him unfortunately. Hope that's not the last we see of him.

No denying McGoldrick was a bit better in that role so it's a tough gig for Sibley to keep his spot. I'd bin off Collins and stick Sibley behind McGoldrick next week, just me though.

He could’ve chased harder but there were a couple of times he did, right at the off he was at them and closed the ball down; unfortunately I think the lack of energy and service from others, led his enthusiasm to wane.

Just my opinion of course, but Knight offered no more than Sibley today, for all his energy he wasted several balls forward. As for Collins I know who’s more likely to score. Sibley behind McGoldrick would be my choice next week too.

All those that say he’s had his chance, Sibley barely gets a run in his favoured position, so some chance, he very often seems to be the fall guy; yet he’d give anything to be successful here, even if asked to play out of position.

One day a manager might persevere with him, really hope Warne does.

And now Hodgson is in talks about returning to Palace. I think he's a decent manager but he's got to be 75?

Good old modern day football. Short term narrow minded decisions win every time. Amazed Big Sam hasn't had another go yet.

Whilst agreeing with your sentiment, given the run they’ve been on and that Hodgson knows a lot of the players, it’s an understandable sticky plaster.

Bit harsh on Vieira though, such is the importance on maintaining their Prem finances.

Watched the game from the stand opposite the away fans.  The oxford fans were giving the ref pelters in the belief that he was giving Derby special treatment.  He just got a lot wrong like they all do.

This was my view with Oxford friends, they were relieved Didzy was out, really thought it was their day scoring first and yes they too felt harsh done by the ref, we were over aggressive by the way.

Singled out Hourihane for experience as the difference, thought Sibley took his goal superbly but generally didn’t rate us. All I could say, without falling out, is we were more clinical and the game should’ve been over; plus I felt a lot better than watching us Tuesday night.

We’re right in the mix, waaaay to much negativity on here at times.

After Whites pretty good game against Charlton some numpties were asking if Bird would get back into the side. Dear me

Bird is so much better and street wise.

We really need Max back, he not only helps define our style of play, sitting and most game’s running midfield, he’s going to help define our season.

Get Max back in form, we’ll make the play offs, without him we’re struggling.

Him and Didzy staying fit at the end of season is going to be crucial; both make us tick in different ways.

I don’t think Barnsley were cloggers.

They just got the better of us on the day. .

Team selection is easy after the event .

Sure we’re all wannabe F.M gurus on here after the event. @angieram made a valid point about set up, I feel similar, they DID boss us at times, particularly midfield, we looked lightweight. That’s more the point, similar tactics to Wycombe were evident to me, both how we set up and how they set about us.

Warne could choose other options next time around, it’s happened last 2 games, he’s got a lot right since coming in, this is no crisis, we’re more than capable of achieving play offs and I expect us to get there. If we end up playing Barnsley, Bird would be a big difference but I’d still think about playing a different formation, using the muscle we do have in our squad or they may just get the better of us again!

The players were set up to go for it, not to learn the lesson from Wycombe. If you play a lightweight team against thugs, this will be the result again and again.

Trouble is, we haven't got the muscle (or nous) to counteract that.

Well, you could always change tactics in anticipation of it. If It’s a game we expected to get roughed up, stick Curtis in the middle of a back 3, have wing backs and bring Collins in for his physical presence too. Regardless of form, Collins is muscle, Curtis battle hardened, those that blow up, that’s when you bring your subs on.

Yes you’re right, doing the same thing, getting the same result. I’d say we do have options though, I hope Warne learns as much as the players, if we have to play cloggers again; particularly in any play offs.

Fwiw I think away at Plymouth, won’t see the same tactics from the opposition.

Whole team's different with Bird in it. Every single player. They can make riskier runs, can expect a pass into feet if they're a forward, or a ball out wide for full backs and wingers. These players can play their game without having to think.

He doesn't do Hollywood passes that often, but he pulls off those slightly-more-difficult than average passes relentlessly, every time. Very few CMs at this level can do it. It's the marginal gain that separates us from the rest of the league and puts us up there with the best.

That's where the calm comes from with Bird. Having a player like that in the spine of your team makes everything run like clockwork.

Never more obvious than today. It’s becoming a cliche that players can suddenly seem much better when they’re out the team for a spell, but in Bird’s the whole team seems much better with him in it; certainly at this level anyway.
