You took my comment out of context. The point I was making (or trying to make) is we have to get White into the team, he can give us some of what Bird gives us. It doesn’t work with Knight and Hourihane deep, the balance is wrong. If Warne wants to play Collins and McGoldrick the only way he can really do it is by dropping Knight. While he was poor last night personally I don’t think you can drop Knight which means you have to drop Collins or Didzy.

My changes on Saturday would be Sibley for Roberts, White for Collins moving Didzy up top and Knight further forward, and I’d start Dobbin and Barkhuizen resting Mendez-Laing who is looking jaded and isn’t the same player right now.

You’ve almost summed up the discussion we had in the car on the way back. We looked good with Bird alongside Hourihane, even better with Knight in that 3 and Didzy up front.

Agree with NML although I thought at Wycombe in my F.M head, I’d have bought back Barks who was doing well before his knock, plus he’s far more consistent than Dobbin and who’s pace must terrify weary defenders coming on fresh.

Sibley wins over Roberts for me. He did hit a couple of duff ones when he first came on, but he’s more a threat, as shown when he was unlucky rattling the underside of the bar

When their lad got sent off, I have never seen anything like it before, the Lincoln management team screaming at their goalie to go down injured go buy them some time. Three or four of them were doing it before a team mate pointed it out to him. He then went down feigning injury. The ref then went to him and called the medics on.

Why did the fourth official not tell the ref that they were ordering him to go down?

If he did, why did the ref not action it, ie send the manager/coaches off and book the keeper?

At the time I was incensed, now I've got home and realised It was worse than I first thought.

The referee would have been out of his depth on the feckn Racecourse on a Sunday morning.

Regardless of their poohousery time wasting, they did a job on us.

We need to wise up to teams with strong arm or negative tactics, because the refs are consistently inconsistent in lots of games; ultimately  we lacked composure tonight, the final ball and crosses into the box not great, at times we made poor decisions with some below par performances.

But yeah the ref was crap.

    Archie Brown - FCLausanne Sport

Notice Archie Brown playing regularly at full back now, scored last goal for Lausanne yesterday, as his team won 3-2 away. They’re comfortable 3rd in the league and could go up to the top tier.

Something tells me this is another, sadly enforced missed gem. He could well have been competing for a spot in our starting 11 right now.

Just missed out on todd and mac, So for me He's the best CB to play for derby since i've been watching them. Absolute class.

    Ditto.

Stimac was classy but Wright rarely messed around, he cleared balls with no nonsense and was better in the air than Stimac for me. So just edges it, as although I might have seen Mac, so young I can’t remember and as best years were gone. Has to be Wright.

Loved it that he said he was keen to watch Cashin, wonder what he thought post game? Be good to find out @Owen87ITK

Derby County: French, J. Brown, Buchanan, Bird, Minkley (C), Cashin, Whittaker, Sibley, Wilson, Knight, A. Brown

Unused Subs: Thompson, Foster-Theniger, Splatt, Matthews, Nto

Found this which gives a little more of players that moved on

French, Wilson and perhaps surprisingly Minkley are the ones yet to go above non league level.

My assessment of Dobbin is that he’s brilliant everywhere except in the box where he lacks composure and makes bad decisions. Could have something to do with it being his first season in professional football. At Port Vale someone behind me said it’s Dobbin the f****** horse when he missed that 1 on 1, one of the worst misses this season. But then two brilliant assists to win us the game.

Hes clearly got talent, he’s definitely going be a wide player/winger, as he plays more games he’ll make better decisions and be more prolific. He’ll play an important role for us between now and the end of the season. If we get up to the championship I think he’d be a good loan option next season as I think he’ll improve again. Not sure he will go to the very top but will probably end up a bottom half prem/top half championship player.

Spot on, add pretty much what @DavesaRam said, they have got to be working on his shooting in training, I’m sure even Didzy will be having encouraging words in his ear too.

If we get up, Everton stay up, wouldn’t be at all surprised if both parties don’t agree another season with us in a higher league would be beneficial for all.

TBH they’re doing a good job, no chance they will be relegated, Leeds looked leggy by comparison today, Ayling particularly. We would be happy to be in their position if we were honest. .

Them or Leeds, you would have to say Leeds right now. Like a few have said Forest have done well enough at home. In the next 6 games, the Everton game doesn’t look so easy now, so with Man City and Newcastle the other homes, with a trip to Spurs, maybe they need something at West Ham or Fulham away in the matches coming up.

They could soon get pulled lower but you’re right we’d be more than happy in their position. I’m quite sure a good few from both sets of fans, are a little disappointed old rivals are faring better than each expected, if being truly honest.

Chelsea shouldn’t have approached him after one season in the champ.

    Get that.

Chelsea couldn’t spend remember, so whilst you’re right, they probably thought at that time, he was the right person, dressing room legend, had Jody who had worked with half the kids coming through and rolled the dice on the fairytale.

He couldn’t resist either. What peeved many here, was the fannying around, when all knew it was likely. Sure we got good compensation but it pretty much gave Cocu no pre season planning and a real bum hand given we had lost the good loans. Not Franks fault, but I reckon that’s the sour taste for many.

We wil have options at LB Sibley Roberts & Springett .

If we went into next season with Sibley, Roberts (even Fozzy as emergency cover during games), most fans and likely Warne would be happy with the left back position, whether it’s championship or league 1.

I think they have a serious problem. I think Ayew is a decent player, but they already have better players in abundance - it’s like they’ve got an addiction to signing players.

In the history of the Premier League, no promoted team has been backed by their chairman more than Forest so you can’t knock him for that, consider their business and approach to the likes of Norwich, Burnley, Sheff Utd and Huddersfield. It’s good to see a team put their knackers on the line, but it’s a shame it’s Forest.

Agree. Forest have gone all out spend whatever it takes, to stay in the Premiership. It’s high risk both in terms of the money spent and team harmony. So many players, by any logic, must be hard to keep happy and engaged. Some will have come for money and not care, others will breed discontent if not picked. Park that though, they ought to have enough to not just stay up but be competitive, at least to mid table status.

What Derby or any football fan, wouldn’t take that if it was roles reversed?. It’ll be fun if they blow up, but they’re doing better than many of us thought they would. Just looked at their fixtures, after Leeds, they have quite a tough run to the end of March, with only Everton at home, what could be considered an easy fixture. If they pick up points in those 2 home games and at Fulham and West Ham away, they will be sitting even prettier than they are now though and the Fat Greeks gamble will have paid off.

Very difficult situation for Man U , I suspect a career in the US or Middle East may follow.

This seems a highly likely option to me.

No way will united want him around, firstly financially they can comfortably write him off, they’re not that desperate for money and you have to wonder, would it affect sponsorship more if he was to stay. Secondly, terrace culture would be merciless, he’s a bit more talented and high profile than Ched Evans (who managed to ignore the chants that continue, even after his acquittal). You only have to look at ourselves and the Collymore chant, clubs can’t stop fans singing what some would brand distasteful; plus there would be a media circus around him, you wonder if he’d really want that?

So my guess would be move abroad, who knows, being so young, he might just get a chance to return and ply his trade later in his career; depends how he views it.

The first game in 2023 that we haven't won and the end of a 19 game unbeaten run in all competitions. Meh.

Let's focus on getting the hell out of League One.

    COYR

Too right, we draw a line under tonight, as we won’t be playing teams of this calibre again this season.

Real difference was they broke fast, we’re clinical, exactly what you would expect; we had neither the guile or pace down the middle of our attack, to really do the same. Few people been a bit too harsh.

We focus on our priority and we are well capable of carrying on our league form.

    Plange at Lincoln…. Bonkers!

You have to question the role of agents, who act as advisors to these kids. Plange coming from London was always going to be tempted by a move to Palace, but to then go to Lincoln, no disrespect to them, but his career has gone severely backwards!

  14. Meantime, whilst nothing ever happens, a mate of mine who is an Irons fan, tells me his plucky little club, is in real danger of going out of business. Went in the Iron bar with him to our last league cup game there, seem to remember Knighty making a debut impact that game. The locals were friendly and every bit as passionate about their team.

Small story stuff in the football world, being a conference club, but another town in danger of losing its football club.

I would contact the ticket office, bearing in mind if you want to keep your own season ticket seat you only have until 4 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

Was resigned to that probably being the only way to resolve it, fortunately free to trek there and back

  16. Anyone help me out here?

My youngest has moved age bracket, he’s got a 13-17 year old season ticket, but recently turned 18. So can’t buy the cup ticket in that bracket, the screen says need to change ticket type but no explanation as to how unless I’ve missed.

Wasted half a season, should of been loaned out earlier to continue development, him at Hull and Plange in Belgium, maybe not as good as they thought they were....

He’s good enough but you’re right on the wasted half season, he wasn’t really going to figure at Palace, he should have been out on loan to the likes of Hull back I the summer; he’s at least Championship standard.

  18. 58 minutes ago, RoyMac5 said:

Doesn't get to play regularly and they seem to prefer him as a defensive player. I guess it shows how easy it is to move to the wrong team for your development.

Watford to Palace looked a good move, he was used defensively at Watford too. He’s just probably not ticking the boxes for Vieira. Can see him on the move in the summer. Will be in his final year then.

Rosenior was completely unproven. If he was ‘already good’, why didn’t he get the job permanently?

Hull are ‘well up the league’? They were 20th and now they’re 16th. He’s meeting the brief but let’s not over-egg it. He’s doing a respectable job. Nothing more, nothing less.

All of our success is due to the squad Rosenior assembled? What a great way to undermine the job our current manager is doing!

People said Warne would have to rip the squad up to get them ‘playing how he wants’. This has proved to be untrue. People said the football would be a turn off and attendances would drop to 12k. Again, it’s untrue.

We have signed no-one and gone on an unbeaten run stretching back to October. We have played with a left back at centre back, a central midfielder at right back and an attacking midfielder at left back, and we’re 12 games unbeaten in the league. Even many of Rosenior’s signings have performed better since he left.

But of course none of that is down to the current manager, is it?

It’s funny, remember some Clough fans saying Mac built his success on the team Clough assembled. Is it any different? Maybe not, but it totally undermines the impact that Warne has had on getting more from the players, by adopting different tactics and systems.

I’m another Warne convert, you have to give credit where it’s due.

Absolutely. Lestah missed 2 sitters before Dogs scored. Once fixtures pit them against a half-decent team again there’ll be more tears.

Big win for them yesterday, said before the table will give them confidence and it should. Park the cup games coming up, the game at Bournemouth will see if they look like their away form has truly turned, as Southampton proved nothing to my mind.

The game against Leeds though is equally as big as yesterday. Win that it will be a massive confidence boost, up front they look bang average but they are nicking goals. I’d say 3 or 4 points out the next 2 and afraid to concede, they will probably gain enough momentum to keep them up.
