Didnt realise he was only temporary. At least it's a stain on his CV. The manager who officially brought them down.

I’d highly suspect for that reason alone, he must’ve looked at their remaining fixtures and thought I can pick enough points up here! Take the plaudits etc.

Reckon he underestimated how screwed those players were with all the changes.

    Shame eh.

Too right, Most of them, are a horrible bunch.  Even before our trouble, every time they came to PP, it was always the same things thrown in south stand and one year it was a bottle which looked like someone pissed in it. Even Milwall didn’t do that. A year touring the L1 grounds will do them some good.

Having nipped to Tamworth station earlier to pick up my son, maybe 10 police vehicles and plenty of cops trying to control their neandrathal cave men, suggests some league 1 clubs won’t enjoy their company.

Worth mentioning the move from London to Derby is also a massive one. Football aside, it's a massive upheaval to leave behind friends and home to work elsewhere. Done it myself plenty, and it's not easy. We've seen it plenty, some people fit in right away like Adams, some might take more time to settle. Some might not settle at all.

I hope he finds his feet. He's the type of player you really don't want to come up against. So I'm glad he's ours.

Hope he finds his feet too but it wasn’t really a big upheaval; he grew up in Birmingham, born in Erdington, part of the Villa academy.

A full pre season and build his fitness, he could just shine but I think we need to be patient with him. If he starts flat and doesn’t impress, my concern would be he’ll struggle even more, because I think he might be a confidence player. The type that is brilliant in the grove but gets worse with every mistake. Honestly feel Warne has tried to protect him, as he knew he wasn’t fully fit.

Think it's good to play a relegated team early on, especially they are going to be strong. Re-adjusting to life after relegation can be tough, whereas promoted sides go into the season with an initial feelgood factor.

Blades away then on that logic, Wilder will get them ticking eventually but there’s some serious psychological damage there.

Forsyth, Adams and Collins are the types of player you want in your squad as they set standards for the rest of the squad - professionalism off the pitch as well as effort and determination on it.

All three are good enough to be at least Championship squad players, so as long as they're happy with wages to match their role, then we should be trying to keep them around.

Listening to the interview @SamUltraRam put up, can’t believe nobody would not want Collins in the squad. He talks well, you can tell how committed he is, absolute must he stays even if he is back up.

Agree with the other 2, Fozzy for his versatility as much as experience, even if he doesn’t regularly feature.

If I were Clowes I’d be leaving Warne (and his staff’s) contract as is. Warne probably also content with that. There’s still 2 years to run, probably had some sort of bonus or % increase written in should he achieve promotion. Wait and see how we go and if there’s a need to discuss a new deal it can happen later in the next season.

    Agree with this.

If D.C needs to re-evaluate, he can do so after next season. If Warne does well it puts him in a stronger negotiating position but that’s a price I’m sure we’d all accept. Conversely, if he doesn’t, it gives D.C the chance to pause for thought and plan a successor.

My expectation is only a real perceived danger of revisiting league 1 after say Christmas, might get D.C twitching, even then I’m not totally convinced he’d fire a bullet and twist.

  7. This was my second time of following Derby in the third tier, which from vague booze fuelled memories, evoked romantic notions it would be fun! The reality was some grounds have barely moved on from the 80’s, others are ok but tiny and I struggled to get tickets unless I went in “home” ends, which is fun and frustration in equal measure for me

Saying that, as others mention, the rival fans have a welcome genuineness of following their local team. I’ll miss that but not the football so much, it did feel painful to watch certain games, even when we won.

League 1 and 2 do need more support from the EFL and football pyramid, along with non league it’s the life blood of our game and now we’re out I’m glad we paid a visit and injected some revenue along the way; one year would’ve been nicer, but 2 years on we’re probably more ready for the championship without any EFL handcuffs, other than the same for all other clubs (ignoring recently relegated Prem teams).

Each to their own but if we somehow manage to do a Derby and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again, £500 will somewhat cushion the blow.

Another way of looking at it, if you’re a season ticket holder, it pays for your season ticket. Bizarrely I remember doing it at the start of the play offs when we win against West Brom, with that sort of logic and was happy to lose a few hundred, but have never bothered since.

If I was superstitious I probably would, but we’re going to win, I’ll keep the money and my faith in my pocket this time 🐑👊

Jeez ,, almost brought tears listening to the above, really puts Saturday into perspective

The bit that makes me blink, is D.C retelling the story of how he got the nod on a London business trip, him and wife welling up in tears on the tube; yep we’ve all been there, it’s that realisation of a special moment just happened, that causes full grown men to blink hard, as something is in their eyes.

    Great reminder @BuckoBeast

The useless EFL have already let this kind of thing go.

On the last day of the 21/22 season, Northampton were ahead of Bristol Rovers on goal difference. Northampton did their job by beating Barrow 3-1. This meant that Bristol Rovers needed to win by 7 against Scunthorpe, the result was 7 nil and Bristol were promoted on goals scored. Already relegated Scunthorpe fielded a team consisting of 7 teenagers including 4 from their u18s and a first year scholar in goal.

I can't find any details of any punishment for Scunthorpe.

If Scunthorpe ever get back in the EFL, they should have points deducted, in my opinion. Poetic justice that they crashed through the National League.

As an aside, got a friend who’s an Iron fan, they have had some serious off field financial issues, couldn’t pay players, staring down the barrel of losing their ground and a past owner that seemingly made false promises. They have finally stabilised after putting their true fans through the mill. Think they suffered enough.

(Btw on the field a certain J.Butterfield is captain these days)

I don't agree.  If we lose by 1 and Bolton beat their U21 team by 3 it's unfair.  The competition is play a competitive side for a 46 game season.  That doesn't mean play your star striker but it doesn't mean playing a side with 50 games between them. The players need to be competitive.

Thankfully ours will be, it’s all going to be immaterial come Saturday 🐑

I used to respect John Percy, but he's embarrassing himself here. Of course Derby fans are enjoying all this - we're rivals. But Forest's antics have been condemned and mocked across the board. They've made themselves an object of mockery and/or abuse by more than Derby fans.

This is Percy openly acknowledging his loyalties and true colours with regards ourselves. When we as supporters were going through a tough time, he wasn’t so supportive defending our plight, he’s in the same bracket as that over rated accountant; nice to see Percy is feeling it here.

Hope he gets pelters from all angles, his credibility will slip the more he pins his colours to the Forest charade playing out.

Celebrate the return of the Rams after very nearly being killed by Steve Gibson, Rick Parry, Kieran Maguire and that arse from Wycombe,

Go on the pitch/don't go on the pitch, just stay in the ground and enjoy the day then retire to a pub crawl round town.

Merry Widows, Neptune, Metro Bar, Tiger Bar, White Horse, Noahs Ark, Jorrocks, Dolphin, Bess of Hardwick etc.

If someone would be so kind as to shovel me on the last train to Utch it would be greatly appreciated.

That’s my mood and intentions Utch, first time I can take my kids and do what me and my old man have done a few times.

You don’t forget these memories , no matter how much alocihol 🍻

We don't need to rely on anyone but ourselves.

If we can't get at least a point against bottom of the table and done and dusted Carlisle, with 186 games for Derby Paul Simpson in charge, we deserve the play offs.

    Agree with this but

There’s been a few threads over the past few years and whether it’s poking fun I know you’ve called them tinpot. Thing is for many, until recently they were like a 2nd team to many Rams fans south of Derby. Why? Because they were non league and for many a year their rivals were Gresley Rovers until Tamworth tried stepping up.

Anyhow, that’s the background for why when Derby were away or not playing, their numbers would increase with genuine Derby fans, with nothing better to do . What changed was them gaining league status, a couple of quick promotions and us meandering around the 2nd tier too long; seriously Burton shouldn’t be our rivals, they’ve punched above their weight and they had a few youngsters latch on, rather than go to the bigger midlands clubs like us, Villa, Leicester even Stoke or the Gumps. So much so the kids have largely tried to get under our skins, claim they’re better than us and generally big themselves up as equal rivals, if not better in their eyes.

For that last reason and my kids had to yawn through their jibes at schools in Burton, I’m with you all the way @David 👍😂

(though I think they might scrape up)

Going up 200% and it's only gone up £200, sounds like they were pretty cheap to start with!

That was before FFP became some form of a reality in the Greeks LaLa land world. If the back door to friends and family clubs was truly closed, they would probably need an even bigger hike!

No coincidence this huge hike is it? Looking at the BBC article though, it seems very ad hoc around the ground, with no price band consistency. It’s almost like they don’t care about their fans; take it or leave us.
