2 successive years of 20goals in a pretty average L1 team seems decent unless I’m  missing something.

Average is being generous, Cheltenham were terrible this season. He'd be pretty cheap and has had a few good years at this level.

Someone who's scored 43 goals in over two seasons in league one in a poor side is exactly the type we need.

Warne says he wants players between 25-30 and whilst he's at the top end of that he can clearly finish. We more than likely will be playing a 352 next season so we need at least 4 strikers and having 2 of last season's top scorers in the ranks will surely be a good thing.

We're in League One and we need good league one players and he's one of them.

Where's he said that? Pretty sure he's said 23-28.

Based on his talk of "10s and a 9", 343/3421 is more likely imo. It's how we finished the season, with the players universally saying the enjoy playing in that system.

Pinched from the Cheltenham forum.

Derby are precisely one of the clubs where you have to ask “can they afford not to sign May?”

A third season at this level could be disastrous for them. They need to get back to the Championship this time round, and the windfall that brings.

From the EFL on the new tv deal for 2024/25: “According to the existing distribution formula, clubs in the Championship will be approximately 46% better off and 25% in League One and League Two respectively.”

So it could be a £12-15m payday for the promoted sides? How much is League One’s best goal scorer worth when that’s the prize he can win you?

It’s also a lot of money to lose out on if a top club doesn’t sign him and doesn’t get promotion…that’s the risk they have to think about. Can they afford to take that risk?

Age doesn’t matter. Teams like Derby aren’t buying him for the future, they are buying him for one reason only: promotion to the Championship this
season.

…………..seems fair comment.

If we signed him would we keep 3 over 30 year old strikers? Assuming Didzy signs a new deal of course.

Which, when you think about it, almost certainly means we aren't interested. There has been hint of any interest from the Derby end, just the usual stories adding us to the list of clubs that supposedly are. We will surely have our sights on some younger players

What I do know is that some of his strike were of high quality last season and I don’t give out compliments that easily - if he can score inside the six yard area then that would help - definitely not a hold up, flick it on type of forward. How we would fit him in would be interesting - yes we should be interested and yes getting out of league one and into the championship is what we are trying to achieve

Or maybe Collins or Didzy could leave?
