Ambitious Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 (edited) Nixon has reported that we are stepping in to try and sign David McGoldrick ahead of Middlesbrough. Also, Conor Hourihane is expected to sign (as Barkhuizen did)! Edited June 10, 2023 by Kernow deanoakaram4life, DCFC4LIFE, Carnero and 4 others 5 2

If we needed to know about signing before the season ticket information comes out we are doing okay ?
Van der MoodHoover Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Always thought of him as the epitome of the journeyman striker but tbf he plays as the hold up cf and seems to score once every 4 to 5 games. 34 tho so at the limit really for a 2 year deal (assuming that's our standard offer).
Ram a lamb a ding dong Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Decent player in Div1. Holds ball up really well assuming we go 4-3-3
Sparkle Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 This would be an excellent signing for us especially in league one - experienced and can score goals but most of all a very good footballing centre forward - sign him and we are looking optimistic
Ramarena Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 He’s coming to the end of his career but could be a very shrewd signing if he stays fit.
Big Trav Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 He’s been in training, it depends what he wants to do. He’s local to the area still, has a chance to win something and he’ll also be apart of something rather than boro where he’ll be a bit part player. He’d be class at league 1 level. Thameram 1
MackworthRamIsGod Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 I don't care if he is good or not, if Middlesbrough want him then please for the love of God, chuck our whole budget at it, just to pee Gibson off ? bimmerman, TomG, CBRammette and 11 others 3 1 2 8

Dean (hick) Saunders Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Presumably he would not sign for us on less money than Boro were offering? Maybe this tells us something interesting about Championship clubs trying to save costs? Crewton 1
Donegal Ram Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Not for me. Just doesn't score enough goals. Carl Sagan 1
rammieib Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Not for me neither. I’m concerned over creativity and goals - this guy is a 1 in 5 player. Carl Sagan and Rammy03 1 1
Dimmu Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 He is Irish so no doubt we’ll sign him, that’s our recruitment policy. Rammy03 1

Like you I worry that we’ll end up with another team of players that plays nicely but doesn’t have the desire or skill to score a goal. We we’re pretty toothless last year and I always felt Lawrence was our best chance of scoring. Now he’s going and we still don’t have a player you would say is a natural goal scorer. McGoldrick is a great partner for a scorer (Billy Sharp) but not a target man. rammieib 1
Geriatram Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Just listened to the Mendez Laing interview on the OS , comes across very well.
kingsy1884 Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Not sure if McGoaldrough is the best signing. He has never been prolific. But he is experienced and that's what you need to get out this division.

I think he would help create goals and hold the ball up well, a bit more mobile CKR….would need a scorer up top with him…. Hans Datdo-Dishes 1
Black ('n' White) Sheep Posted July 3, 2022 Posted July 3, 2022 Depends what kind of system we're looking to play... 2 up front then definitely! He holds the ball up well and would bring a lot of chances to a strike partner... As a lone striker, I think we need someone with a better strike rate. Jimbo Ram and Highgate 2
