I’ll start by saying I’m glad you started this thread @B4ev6is

However @RoyMac5 I’m on Billy’s side with this.  I was there and the two chants in question were so loud and relentless, it must have sounded like the whole crowd were singing them.  I remember being a bit bemused at the content as it seemed very specific and I’ve  heard absolutely nothing about Billy’s character that could precipitate any kind of attack, never mind this!!

I can only think that it was started by some deadheads and others thought there was some substance to it to join in!?!  Even so it was bad on so many levels.

On Sunday, I saw a Ram page on Facebook where Derby were being accused by Sheffield fans ( who I guess weren’t there) of singing about Billy’s son.  Now I can’t be 100% about that but I certainly didn’t hear anything like that.  Surely even moronic idiots don’t stoop that low, I certainly hope so. Social media maybe got two incidents roped together.

The thing is, we cannot complain about a horrible chant people might mistakenly think some fans chanted.  As those fans shouldn’t have been chanting what they ACTUALLY did. If you’re not singing vile untrue songs about players you won’t be suspected of singing others. DCFC doesn’t need any more enemies, but who could blame them.

The behaviour of these people can’t be blamed on their Vices, as a (very) younger man I was no angel, but never resorted to this kind of abuse.

I just felt it right thing to do incase he was reading or Sheffield untied supporters were.

Every time I've been to an away game I've left disappointed with some of our unsavoury fans. Didn't surprise me in the slightest to hear about this incident either. We have a large core of unpleasant fans that regularly attend away matches.

But let’s not think that this is just a DCFC thing.

Not that it makes it ok for our away ends behaviour.  But some of the subject matter, especially the range of intoxicants is not just rife in football fans it’s  not an exclusive thing.

Thing is, I’ve hit the age where I’m not sure whether it’s worse now or it was just the same when I was that kind of age but wasn’t shocked by it?

Maybe it’s the way it is and the way it will always be?  I don’t know.

It's no worse than it used to be years ago,  it just gets picked up more now.

Fans sang about the Cleveland child abuse back in the 80's and it wasn't that long ago where a player parents were accused of washing elephants and being a whore.

Fans have sang about the Munich disaster and about Turks carrying knives.

It's always happened and always will and Derby fans are no better or worse than any others.

one more thing on this…

it’s not even a good chant. It’s not smart, it’s not clever, it’s not at all accurate, it’s not original…it’s just tedious.

Disrespectful  also I felt like telling people for chanting it. But them all nasty words towards me.

With the whole world (well, the Championship, and Leeds) apparently against us, what we do need is a siege mentality. Get home supporters at grounds we visit in awe of our support. Don’t give them an excuse to hate us any more with vile, puerile chants.

What are puerile chant not heard if that one before.

Puerile means "childish or silly". It's just referring to some of our chants in general, B4.

I think the sort of chants we are talking about are anything but childish. They are offensive.

It's ridiculous that they get away with it. If there's one homophobic or racist word then they're out. If they look back at the CCTV and the match they can see who was singing or at least send the stewards in.

The mentality of these people is just so wrong I'd be quite happy for them to banned for life.

I was standing by the entrance to the ground when they turned up under a police escort, the police were lined across the road while they were being searched and let into the ground. The same foul mouthed chant at full volume throughout. I said to the policewoman standing next to me if she thought it was acceptable, she gave me a vacant smile.

But you'll get done for 36 in a 30 zone... Or a burglar will get a non-custodial sentence for his 4th offence. They just get stuff so wrong sometimes...

No I agree with that. But I can't think that his reaction is very bright. Deliberate even. His choice.

If I was being called a pedo and a sex offender all game and I scored an 88th minute winner, I'd do an Emmanuel Adebayor.

He's completely within his rights to say and do what he wants.

Didn't say he wasn't. I said it was his choice but not very bright. The people who chant these things they're gonna say 'yeah okay you got us there, we'll stop now'? He could have played 'the bigger man' and had the last laugh is what I think, but he didn't. His choice.

But he did have the last laugh and he took the opportunity to tell people that. Can we move on now, who don’t we like that plays for reading ?

But he won't because the type of fan who chanted what they did will feel they are justified in doing it again was my point.

Yes let's move on, I never been a Blades fan.
