Maybe. I got the impression that he was happy and relieved at the outcome, but keeping his feet on the ground after the battering he's taken this week.

    Agree with that.

Also possible someone had a word in his ear about post match comments. This is a bigger goldfish bowl and he’s possibly still getting used to the attention it brings.

If we had held onto them, Ebosele and Archie Brown could have been our wing backs, flanking Bird, Knight and Sibley with Cash behind and Delap and Kaide Gordon up front.

    Shame on you MM.

When you see where Archie has ended up now, even more shame given the barrel we’re currently scraping ☹️

It was a diversion from his own poor tactics, pre-season, recruitment and team selection.

If I was Bird I'd be in his office in the morning demanding an apology.

I’ve refrained from commenting but people are entitled to criticise his game, but that’s not Max’s style from what my lad tells me. He’s only ever heard him be critical years ago about Cocu but he had a drink.

Max has always had ambition, there’s no secret who he supported as a kid, but he wasn’t looking to move this summer; some of the comments on this thread as just so way off the mark and largely sparked by a bloke who is starting to talk about as much sense as julio geordio

How would you react to idiots shouting their mouths off that you are a paedo and taking the piss out of you losing your child? Having gone through the pain of losing my daughter I know how I would 🙄

Well put, might not be everyone’s taste as a footballer but with Collins, Washington and Waghorn I’d just like us to try and find a raw gem in the making; maybe a Dobbin, maybe a Phil Gee, that’s the sole reason I’d say no to Billy Sharp now.

I’m doubtful he would consider playing us either way.

Waghorn isn’t the answer. We need a central midfielder who is a bit adventurous. Wigan’s Land stood out for me…. Probably went for our defence today!

Agree about the midfield. Thing is their no9 stayed central most of the game, because he had service.

Our number 9 was drifting everywhere looking for the ball. Waghorn’s not the best answer but 3 similarish midfielders, with Collins and NML in the middle just doesn’t look functional.

Waggy is better than what we have uptop. Might not be the most exciting signing but We wasnt exactly excited about signing McGoldrick at the time.

Im Hoping that the drop in league & the chances we miss waggy might score a decent amount in this league

He must’ve been sat in the stands thinking I can offer more than this for sure.

He can and will once he’s fit and fully integrated. The bloke has played an higher level all his career, he will make a difference; don’t get the doubters.

A lot of rubbish players mentioned but largely not hate figures, while here anyway. Even Darryl Powell used to get a lot of stick.

Wasn’t there some humour with it too, seem to recall Daryl Powell is a football genius being a frequent chant.

Richard Keogh made one mistake and is still popular with many fans for his years of loyal service.

John McGovern was brilliant for the Rams and scored the goal against Liverpool that got us our first league championship!

Do these deserve to be more unpopular than Derek Hales and Sam Longson?

Yes Sam (reluctantly) financed Cloughie's purchases but he forced Sir Brian and Peter out in one of the darkest days in the Rams'history.

McGovern was before my time but commented before Derek Hales was my first recollection of a striker and my old man put his poster on my bedroom wall. He was going to bring us the title apparently 🙄.

For me, he will forever be the most unpopular because it’s my first let down as a fan and realisation Dads don’t always tell the truth 😂

Saw the legend that is Sir Tom Jones last night at Leicester Cricket Club.

The dude has still got it and rolled back the years at 83.

I would defo go again if the opportunity presented itself 🎶🎶

Going to see him at Sandown Park this week; I’ve seen him before at Newmarket and was pretty good. Does he still name drop every other song 😂

  10. Some comments seem harsh to me.

Johnson was never quite given the credit he deserved because of the inflated price tag Mel bestowed on him. Sure he had a ropey start but there were runs where he was absolutely bossing midfield.

He’s a decent guy, did a fair bit of charity stuff to demonstrate his character. He absolutely could be a coach to young players, who largely are not ready for league 1 standard; a level he was capable at last season.

Looks a good fit to me.

Its well worth clicking the link for the full interview.

Nice to hear him appreciate his role at the club, his future ambitions and how the team bonding is going out in Spain - I know that PW has his doubters but I really do think we are building something here.

    COYR

Absolutely top bloke, fascinating insight and great to hear how his coaching ambitions are helping the academy young keepers too.

Similarly makes me think of Scott Carson, ridiculed for taking the money at Man City but there’s a reason these older pros are good to have around.

  12. Wish him all the luck and no disrespect to Bristol, but shame he’s not going to a team more likely to go up.

Getting similar vibes to when Will left, always thought he do that bit better, though I think Hughes is finally making  his mark and maybe Knighty will be similar in time.

Atb anyway, too good for league 1.

11 was nothing to be sniffed at so its frustrating he is abit of a scapegoat.  I like him but realistically hes another year past his prime and if we are lucky we may get 15 from him.

Hopefully i am wrong and he hits 20 but would still be happy with 15!

Definitely realistic with better service. As for 20+ I’d be happy to be pleasantly surprised but not expecting it.

  14. See this was all a plan by @David to bring some noise to a quiet thread 😂

Truthfully though, even the most bias of Rams know Forest are somewhat irrelevant to us next year, unless we draw them in the cup.

@Red_Dawn no doubt you want to try and stir an occasional response and we will no doubt comment back on any struggles in your 2nd season but really, do we really care what you’re up to right now? Don’t you have a Forest forum to frequent?

Absolutely right. They’ve already had a ‘try before you buy’🤣

I’ve not followed all the recent summer dealings in depth but I really hope we didn’t structure anything based on appearances?

Sadly, this story has a sense of inevitability about it. I’ll be really surprised if Bielik makes much above 20 appearances next season.

  16. I’ve not been feeling twitchy at all, mostly just waiting for Warne’s plan to unfold and barely commented on any threads.

I’m now at the point where I’m starting to get excited though. The defence looks absolutely sorted for league 1, midfield we were already strong even if we are to lose Knight. Just need the finishing touches to our wing play and forward line up.

There’s a good squad for this league and higher taking shape, I’m liking what I see and genuinely believe we’re in for a good season.

This is the team that stopped Italy getting to the World Cup 9 months after Italy stopped us winning Euro 2020. Football's a strange game.

That’s the bit people are not giving England enough credit for tonight. They beat the Italians 1-0 little over a year ago; yet couldn’t handle the England pressing tactics at all.

You don’t get results like that being utter dross; England did really well tonight.

Don’t think it will happen and I hope it doesn’t. Want Luton to stick it up the premier league due to all the snobbery around their promotion, particularly from red dogs who think they’re Billy big b******* and getting in Europe next season

    Agree with this.

Luton have worked hard to get into the premier league. I’ve no strong feelings about them, it’s not a particularly great place to visit but so what.

We own that 11 point badge for all that went wrong pre season and during it, so I’m not going to wish it on Luton.
