I hate his football. Get rid.

PS: tried being patient, now fully convinced he is NOT the right man for the job. I can’t relate to the shiiiite that he calls football. These are not bad players, they are being coached in a damn awful way.

Was in the don’t know camp a few weeks ago, any manager needs time to get a fresh team together to gel but you’re right, it’s an awful watch.

Likewise trying to be patient but there’s barely a glimmer of a plan, it’s just an horrible watch ☹️

And on the day that Reading got their latest point deduction for failing to pay their players, they signed another player....complete lack of consistency from the EFL...

You gotta wonder why players are signing for a club that doesn't pay them....

I’m scratching my head trying to understand when we had a strict business plan last year and still have restrictions this year, how the heck do Reading keep signing players?

Only 4 days ago they bought in another keeper? As @RadioactiveWaste questions, why would you go to Reading knowing they are struggling to pay your wages 🤔

I think it was Lincoln away that did for him & we were poor that night. Unfortunately for Liam, we hadnt converted dominance into goals in the previous 3 away league games (Charlton, Shrewsbury & Fleetwood) and so the narrative of us being impotent away from home was born. Richie Barker even made reference to it in an interview pre-Bolton...brass neck of him to come out with that & then deliver that garbage yesterday.

Rosenior leaving felt at the time & still does as a massive missed opportunity. I don't necessarily think we would've gone up last season but I think the foundations would be much stronger than they are now. Possession based football takes longer to implement (certainly more than the 8 games he got) but has a much higher chance of long term success. He also had connections higher up the pyramid (which he leveraged to bring in quality players) & an obvious affinity with the youth ranks. He was the man to help rebuild the club on the pitch.

Instead we brought in Captain Pinball, with all the fanfare about his 'promotion record' only to spend the last 12 months being finger-wagged that we shouldnt expect promotion & how he always needs another 6 months from the point at which he is questioned. We've gone backwards since Sep 2022 & that is a damning indictment on his appointment.

Keep trying to push what happened away, as it won’t change anything now and it’s done, but yes mate it’s so hard for me to argue with any of that.

Just a bit disheartening, when all we want is to move on and see a successful team.

Fair enough wanting him out (I'm on the verge), but the whole PE teacher thing is both inaccurate and disrespectful.

Yeah I’ll hold my hands up a bit to that, it’s a bit like post match interviews and needing time to reflect but I’d probably revise it to drill sergeant.

Sadly for me, it feels very regimented and all about fitness and running which I mentioned in my post. I’m pleased we’re seeing less of the jokiness in interviews and I’m sure Warne is good company socially.

It’s the adoption of a system and recruitment of certain players that I’m struggling with that doesn’t suggest to me he’s on the right path. Whilst this obsession with fitness, to be able to press more, is it also causing more injuries? This is why I’m possibly still being disrespectful with the drill sergeant comment. I’m sorry but it makes me question whether Warne is running some of them into the ground, do remember last season he kep going on about “gassing out”.

Hope I’m wrong about him, maybe he’ll refine his style but it feels like other than the set pieces, we are going backwards and he’s coaching them out of playing attractive football.

Thought we turned a corner last week, doubting again this. Doubt very much Clowes will do knee jerk this year, it feels pointless anyway; I’m just not sure Warne is going to take us up right now and we really ought to be challenging in this poor league.

  5. Previously I said he needs a full season, because under Mel so many knee jerks led to bits and pieces squads with cast offs from other managers all over.

Head tells me this should still be the case, but I’ve never been so fed up with our style, Warne makes Rowett look like Klopp. He’s like a P.E. Teacher and running them into the ground with little purpose some games.

This squad should be up there, but our master tactician is going to be the biggest obstacle to success I fear.

A squad on paper that should be competing for top 6.

Will the players gel? Will the manager be brave enough to drop certain players if others fit better, (no England manager has done that since Alf Ramsey for instance).

There's a lot of luck/chance/refs decisions etc that go into a promotion season, the only way us fans can influence it is by giving our players confidence and support when they need it and making it hostile for the away team.

Well put Utch, 2nd post of yours totally agree with tonight.

We’ve got a good squad, now let’s get behind them. I’ll be disappointed if we’re not in the mix for top 6 or automatics , but either way let’s roar them on. This league can be conquered with our current squad.

Glad the window is shut, now we can focus on the football; those concerned with our front line should compare Waghorn, Washington , Collins, even NML with others. We’re as good as any in this league.

Difference between wanting to stay, and two clubs not being able to get a deal over the line. There is no evidence at all that Cashin didn't want to move. And he'd have been stupid not to.

Unless we could’ve lined up replacements and some, we would have been stupid to accept.

Our priorities should be promotion, the funds would be great but if we hadn’t got all our ducks in row, I’m pretty glad he’s staying, as he will help our cause.

Won't be many teams come away from Peterborough this season with 3 points. Fair play to Warne, fantastic reaction from the players.

That’s the bit that get’s lost with those picking negatives; not only that, how many, if any will manage to score 4?!

Yes there were flaws, a young lad in Rooney was in the wrong position a couple of times, Cashin possibly atoned for his part in the goal but that Boro line up, if they stay fit, will cause a lot of teams issues; particularly at London road.

Yet Warne openly stated he tweaks midfield, we go and clinical bulldozer 4 goals, it was an excellent counter attacking, away performance, epitomised by Waghorn. He’ll score more than Didzy, I’d wager that now.

What a result and great day 🐑

I just can’t quite work out why he’s admitted to it. Who gains from that?

My first thought was there’s a book coming out, 2nd was is he stoking publicity for a media role or the after dinner circuit; neither of which would seem suitable for him.

    Head scratcher.

On as a sub v Aston Villa with Everton 2-0 down

In a poor team he’s going to get chances, a bit like Osula; both could do with another season in at least championship teams.

Have really felt invested in their development. Despite the off the field 💩over the last few years, I have really felt affinity with the club and the battling players. Mentioned on rumour mill thread this morning about Cash's long slow walk around the pitch and it was brushed off. Just what is the point? A team full of bearded tattooed hoofball journeymen

Feel the same, Warne spoke well of Knight, similar to Cashin and Bird for that matter at times, yet he can’t get the best of our youngsters because of the cloggers he’s signing or journeymen we’re stuck with at their career ends.

Cashin possibly going way higher says something about his potential; even if it’s the championship, it’s still a level higher than now and I’m not confident right now he’ll get there with us anyway.

  12. 3 at the back can and does work, some fans forget the success Jim Smith had and he was an early adapter of it.

3 at the back doesn’t work if all 3 are told to push up and get exposed to any sort of pace. Our back 5 yet alone 3, are struggling to work together, that’s before we get to the lack of creativity from midfield.

The hope is Warne goes in at half time, absolutely screams at himself in the mirror, realises his tactics are absolutely poo and changes things drastically.

45 minutes to show us what he is all about.

Man I’ve never been knee jerk, I’m an optimist by nature but I’m watching awful football, with no obvious tactic but try and press. The wing backs are not working, the preferred back 3 so obviously too slow, the midfield seems anyhow and the front 2 little service.

Warne’s Rotherham may have gone up using 5-3-2 but they were probably more mobile and younger. He’s stubborn in my opinion and it will do him no good if he doesn’t realise it’s not working.

If we beat Fleetwood, it will mask things again; better teams have us worked out. Warne seems all about fitness and running, lumping crosses in the box, I’m just simply not enjoying it and I suspect neither are the players right now. He needs to rethink the 5-3-2 quickly.

  14. Sat abroad watching and this is ruining my night, god knows what it’s like for those there.

We seem light years away from the likes of Bolton, I’m really hating our defensive line up, midfield none existent and creating next to nothing.

It’s just an awful watch and Warne is going to have to take the rap, not the players.

Harder to do now. The world scouting network is so modern, with stats and data on every league and player. There will still be bargains out there, but a lot of the romance has gone out of it. It's all spreadsheets, rather than attending a Swedish 4th division match.

For sure there is a lot of stat analysis. There are still scouts that watch non league football though, that’s where the young raw gems can be hidden.
