No problem with that, he's earned a move. Going to see out the season so that he doesn't leave the club in a tougher spot for the rest of the season and gives some money and time for Clowes to get him replaced, good on him. Best of luck and hope he gets a big pay rise! This. GB SPORTS
ramit
This is great news for the club, much needed money coming in and player available until end of season. Sufferingfool and Ram-Alf

They're doing well, he liked playing Rosenior-ball and Liam liked and wanted to buy him. I hope if we decided to sell, the very least we did was tout Max around in the hope of more money and finding a better home for him. That he hasn't gone to Hull suggests we got a fee that was too good to turn down from Bristol City. Let's hope so anyway. Hull don't need him, they've got Tyler Morton. Magicman
A really good deal is £ 2 million plus loan back.
Poynton ram
Would Cash get the same abuse if he had signed for Brighton and been loaned back? Admittedly higher fee but suspect not

Ram-Alf
The vitriol from some quarters is laughable, He was offered terms and chose to exercise his right and refuse those terms, Bristol have come in and offered...more money and to play in a higher division. Those moaning should take their football home and storm upstairs and sulk under the quilt 🙄 FlyBritishMidland, Sufferingfool, Colour-blind and 3 others 2

Old Spalding Ram
Are we still paying 100% of his wages?
Rich3478
It’s not necessarily vitriol is it, just some people not that keen on the loan back idea to a player who wants to leave us. He’s not that good that we’d be begging him to stay!
JPRamFan
This is only worth doing if we sign a decent striker not in their 30s permanently before the window shuts.

Could be we explored a couple of options first, then settled on a loan back as best for us. Colour-blind
bcnram
Players come and players go, it isn't a big deal. Our current manager hasn't got the best out of him so good luck to the kid.
LazloW
Bit of a shame if you ask me (not that anybody did). Oh well. Players come and players go but when they come through the ranks, are pretty good and leave for a club no bigger or better than us it’s all a bit disappointing. Oh well. Curtains
I thought Max would have wanted to stay at Derby for most of his career but obviously not. I do wish him well but I don’t want him back on loan as he’s taking others game time up. I am very disappointed and the 2.5 Million is really poor for a player of his talent. I mean Bristol City ! He has had a tough experience in life and come through it to his credit . He is my favorite Derby player so I’m really disappointed by this . RamLad1884
I like Max Bird, I also like the money. I’m sure the club likes money too, so they are getting more money and the same amount of Max Bird. Not sure where the problem is here when he was never going to sign an extension. ramit and FlyBritishMidland 1
ollycutts1982
Have I missed it, have we really got over £2m for him? We will defo be investigated be the EFL for inflated prices.
SSD
I don't understand what Bird's done wrong? He had a contract, he doesn't want to sign a new one. He's got every right to choose what he wants to do. Stayed through the dark times and now he wants to play at a higher level. He has a manager who does not play to his strengths. Fair play to him. If people want to point fingers, go to the club for selling him at the last minute and causing a scene.
