wonder where they got that idea from! Not sure why Notts forest would sue as they stayed up. Can of worms truly was allowed to open

Isn't it the case that each extra place is worth like 1m in the epl. So no doubt fatty bun bun, will be claiming that the points dropped against cheating scouse toffees denied forest the chance to pay for another month of Jesse lingard.....

Reading have been charged with multiple financial breaches now

https://www.efl.com/news/2023/june/efl-statement-reading-fc/

If they will allow them to sign Carroll, Ince Drinkwater etc under a financial business plan this is what.

'the Efl were happy to accommodate big fat contracts at Reading in 2021/22 as we aware that this would give them the best chance of relegating Derby.  At the same time we facilitated these signings( that we have now admitted meant diddly chance of adhering to any plan) we stopped Derby resigning a centre half pushing 40 for an additional 4 months.

The EFL were fully aware of the potential for legal action from the team that finished closest to Reading during this period following our period of Gibson love. we negated this by letting Peterborough of with some other charges last season to ensure their silence

Now the mission has been accomplished we would like our cake and eat it.

Love Rick

Have Cardiff got an embargo?

They did have a ban on transfer fees until summer 2024, but that has recently been reduced. They can no pay fees in January.

Reading are the only other club under an embargo, due to: (1) Breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules; (2) Non-Payment of Loan Wages; and (3) Regulation 17: HMRC Reporting

Assuming they can still sign players in line with current business plan.

Do agree though, seems that everything was chucked at us at once with no leeway allowed, Reading, it seems, have been allowed to choose when points are deducted, break BP twice and still sign players when we had to let all our talented kids go.

Reading

- Over 100m in debt

- Breaking business plans

- breaking ffp

- tax bill from  HMRC

- Non payment of players 3 times

How are they allowed to sign players? How are they avoiding points deductions and administration ?

Simple, their name is spelt R-E-A-D-I-N-G and not D-E-R-B-Y  C-O-U-N-T-Y.😡

Seriously though, administration is down their owner not pulling the plug and nobody serving a winding up order on the business, although HMRC have set the wheels in motion.

I get that. But apparently the owner has gone AWOL and isn’t paying the bills. Sounds like pulling the plug

They haven't despite reports. Nothing on their website or Twitter account.

Also, they can sign as many as they want, doesn't mean the EFL will allow them to register the players to play.

Apparently they are in talks to sign Theo Walcott, either the rumours of them being skint is off the mark or the people running the club are oblivious.

They have today flown to Alicante with 26 players for a week’s training camp.

Discussing Reading on the local TV news: South Today. Supporters really panicking, want the owner out. He just seems to have disappeared. Previous clubs his company have owned have gone to the wall.

Still being allowed to bring in players though.  Nothing changes on that score.  Haaland next week.

Oooh quelle surprise, Reading not paid up, instant embargo.

Fortunately the EFL gave them a couple of weeks to get players in after lifting last embargo.

https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/23681311.reading-fc-hit-transfer-embargo-late-hmrc-payment/

Reading have been placed under an immediate transfer embargo for failing to pay HMRC on time again, the Reading Chronicle understands.
