Why have the EFL not been approving the deals they have done as they happen?

Surely when they transfer the registration, quick look at the deal sheet as well wouldn’t be overly time consuming for them.

It’s like they have been told these are your restrictions and then just let them get on with it.

To busy stopping us re signing Jagielka for 4 months.  Brought in 3 loans that window didn't they .  Shall we team up with Peterborough and demand compo.

The Reading explanation seems fair enough to me. Obviously it grates that we weren't given the same opportunity, am assuming our Administration complicated matters.

Last season, the club entered into discussions with the EFL on our punishment for breaching Profit & Sustainability rules. The club came to an agreement on a six-point deduction in 2021-22, with six points suspended until 2022-23 if an agreed plan to fill the financial gap was not followed. Those terms were admittedly ambitious, requiring significant player sales income – but had the club not agreed that plan, our points punishment last season would have been more severe and – to be clear - would ultimately have led to relegation from the Championship. Despite our very best efforts throughout the course of this last year, and for a complex variety of reasons, player sales income wasn’t achievable to the level needed to meet the plan and, despite all the progress we made in reducing our wage bill, because of that we failed to meet the agreed terms. We came up with an alternative and viable solution, which would have satisfied the financial shortfall requested – but the new independent Club Financial Review Unit were expecting player sales in accordance with our agreed business plan and they informed us in March that, as that original plan hadn’t been adhered to in the methods we had set out, we were in breach. And we have no option but to accept that.

I'm not sure I would say 'fair enough' to that tbh. Not in the slightest.

Both Reading and the EFL knew that that the plan they agreed was unlikely (realistically near impossible) to be followed through with - "Those terms were admittedly ambitious" - because there's absolutely no way to guarantee a certain valuation of (or interest in) the players you want to offload.

The EFL knowing full well that the deal won't be stuck to but effectively saying "We'll only only give you half of the punishment that's coming to you now because it would hurt you too much if you get it all at once. Come back in a year and, unless you perform a miracle in the meantime, we'll give you the (inevitable) rest then"  is... well it's exactly the level of uneven-handed b******* you expect from them.

Effectively letting Reading pick and choose when they get their punishment to suit them.

A bit like they did with QPR when they came back down.

So basically Reading said they would sell X amount of players and bring in X amount of money - which they didn’t

To which the response should have been, you do that, then you can spend this. Does feel like they have been very lenient with Reading, I guess not being in administration and having 2 clubs threatening legal action removes any pressure to throw the book at them.

As well as giving them every opportunity to not be relegated unlike some - they still allowed them to sign 13 players, to replace those that they didn’t get move on.

Agreed, why clubs like Wigan, Reading and Derby not being forced to supply monthly accounts, whilst supposedly working under a business plan.

Apparently, Derby have submitted management accounts on 31st March, showing that we're ahead of our plan. But, the EFL have only cracked down on Wigan AFTER their players hadn't been paid 4 times this season. They've only cracked down on Reading after the latest full accounts showed that they didn't follow the business plan LAST SEASON, allowing them to avoid relegation.

The EFL are failing in their duty to protect the clubs from their owners and failing to protect other clubs from these clubs cheating whilst under supposed business plans. It seems that Derby could have exceeded the wages limit, got promoted and not been penalised until next season, in the championship.

In the meantime feel free to sign Andy Carroll and two Chelsea players on loan for the season.  You can also have 3 more players on loan and payoff your failing manager in January to greatly improve your chances of staying up making compliance a total non starter.

Now then, where's Derby with that one year Marriott extension and 3 month contract for Jagielka at 4 k a week.  Denied

This. Allowing teams to dodge financial restrictions while significantly strengthening their squad by signing experienced PL/international players for a fraction of their real wages isn't really playing fair by the other teams in the division.

Not being Derby County more like and in fact helping Reading helped Efl to achieve their aim of relegating us.

Florist should be made to start on minus 10 points each season.

Basically for being a load of w@nkers.

I'd go for 20 for 'delusion restitution'.  They can have a reduction of 1 penalty point per season for every year they can stop trying to convince frightened bystanders they're world famous or a rebel city.

Not sure on the validity of this, but rumblings at Reading

Their owner Dai Yonnge & his sister (is her name Liv Fasste?) have previously overseen the liquidation of a small Belgian club after deciding to stop putting money in.

Obviously don’t want Reading or Wigan to go under but the more chaos they have going off the better.

Just need someone to poach Duff and the stars really are aligning for us.
