Apart from my significant other's repeated plees for me to "just stop doomscrolling" and "it's not helping" and "you're being a right arse" (all true, I have been a right arse lately).

I'd suggest getting regular exercise, being kind to people, remembering that as much as this hurts, we will get through this.

I also have a dog and my furry friend never fails to take my mind off the situation (whether it's being adorable or because he's doing my nut in...)

And just to say, I'll happily take DM off anyone.

I’ll echo the above @RadioactiveWaste More than happy to receive a DM if someone is struggling. In total confidence no matter night or day (I’m constantly on here refreshing at the minute?? for news that never comes).

In the week leading up to Christmas, I was admitted to A and E with sepsis and water retention, spent 5 days there, and then had to put up with a very unpleasant catheter for 5 weeks before having it removed earlier this week.

So, my mood has been swinging around a bit more than usual. I’ve imagined how I might fit a catheter into various people connected with Middlesbrough and Wycombe. That eases the tension for a while?

I can’t expect anyone else to appreciate that line of thinking but I’m sure they will have their own release.

if there’s any justice in the world, we will survive this nightmare. Stay strong everyone and keep up the pressure!!

Foley?

Don't know that I am dealing with it at all really. I swing between anger and frustration to helplessness that I can't really do anything and sometimes to just feeling a bit numb and not really interested in or focussed on much at all. That's not really me, I'm generally a bit of a 'heart on sleeve' type normally.

Sometimes I just walk away from the noise of all this for a bit and sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn't. The constant delays and setbacks and broken deadlines are a bit toxic to morale.

Interesting it was about you, I thought it was aimed at me!

No, I want to leave it there. Genuine question- do you feel better when you self-deprecate? (Sorry, that sounds like innuendo.)

I want to know what works for people.

Having worked in mental health services for decades, I am quite sensitive about things like this, perhaps overly so.

Not suggesting @angieramthat you don’t think - I know you absolutely do - but this explains a lot:

It's probably off topic, but to evangelize briefly, there's Parkrun at Markeaton park and Alvaston park every Saturday morning (as well as long Eaton and Shipley) - it's something healthy and positive to get involved with, either running or volunteering.

Free, fun, healthy and welcoming to everyone - if you're just starting out you'll get loads of support and you don't have to be at any kind of minimum to get started. I regularly Marshall at my local parkrun and it's a good positive.

Glad you are feeling better Bob. It must have been horrible over the last 5 weeks with both the EFL and your catheter taking the piss.

Good point. I took up running during the first lockdown. I usually am really active, coaching grassroots, playing footy, socialising. But when all that was taken away I felt I needed something to occupy my time. Nearly 2 years on and 2.5 stone lighter I absolutely love it. I often go at 6am and find it really clears my head, earphones in, upbeat music and off I go for 30/60mins. So good for destressing and also has health benefits. Same with walking too. Best of all it’s free. ??

I am following the @RadioactiveWaste approach and have so far run and walked  140miles in Jan (set myself 150 target).

Cant do the same right through Feb though, I’m bloody knackered. Weather should soon be getting better soon… ?☀️

I now force myself to take a break from screen refreshing or bouncing between this forum, Twitter or NewsNow. I mostly work from home so try and do a walk round the block at lunch rather than look for updates.  I also make a point, on Twitter, of not delving into the comments on threads now to remove the risk of getting massively wound up by complete neanderthals stating how we deserve it, we've cheated etc etc.  That's one stress I can control and have removed.

I may live some 85 miles from PP but reading through these threads I do often feel I'm there with all you locals.  Keep the faith - I honestly do believe we'll come through this.

I regularly run and volunteer at Markeaton parkrun. Running’s helping me keep my head straight at the moment.

I'm moving house, so that's kind of exciting and is providing a good distraction.

That being said, fellow Rams, if you are feeling distressed, anxious or need mental health advice, there is a helpline set up specifically by Derbyshire NHS Foundation Trust for residents of the county. If you're registered at a Derbyshire GP, you can call 0800 028 0077 24/7. They may be able to help provide some positive advice on how to distract yourself and move forward.

I also work for a local mental health service (in a non-clinical role) which offers scheduled therapy. Our waiting times are wacky at the moment so don't expect to be seen right away however it may help to talk. Services you can self-refer to in Derbyshire are as follows:

Trent PTS - https://www.trentpts.co.uk/
Vita Minds - https://www.vitahealthgroup.co.uk/nhs-services/nhs-mental-health/Derby-and-derbyshire/
Insight Healthcare - https://www.insighthealthcare.org/
Talking Mental Health - http://www.derbyshirehealthcareft.nhs.uk/tmhd-refer

Of course, hopefully all this will be resolved positively in the coming weeks and all of what I've just typed will become unnecessary but it's here for anybody who might need it.

Obviously, if you're experiencing really dark moments and believe yourself to be at risk of self-harm, please call 111 or go to A&E.

Look after yourselves boys and girls, brighter days will come.

I know that all Derby fans don't live in Derbyshire so posting a link for a service I have used recently where you can self refer that I found excellent have used them twice in the past and their therapy services are amazing:-

https://www.nottinghamshirehealthcare.nhs.uk/letstalkwellbeing

The most obvious one which you missed from your list is the The Samaratins again whom I have used recently and provide a wonderful support service:-

I agree with a lot of the above; nothing is going to happen quickly on this so rather than getting addicted to the heavy traffic threads, with all the highs and lows that go with it, much of which is opinion, or bullpoo presented as fact, just stick to the Derby County Daily Updates Thread once or twice a day. That thread condenses down anything meaningful happening on the day.

Stay strong. We need everybody fit and well for the party we will have on 7 May when Wayne leads our Boys to a final home win of the season, condemning Cardiff to Tier 2 football along with Barnsley and Peterborough.  COYR!!!!

Lads just come out of hospital after another operation and seeing all the poorly kids dealing with chemotherapy, dialysis and other treatments helps keep the situation in perspective.  Bloody grim but there are also people a lot worse off, so be grateful for the good things you do have and try not to worry about something we might not have.

I like to think I'm a very positive person..always have been much to my wife's annoyance at times..lol..

It's easy to get caught up in the minute by minute ups and downs of news no news and most often fake news..

I try to ignore the clickbait site nonsense..they basically know nothing at all and can just wind people up..don't forget Twitter is often just a bubble..the majority of information is often false or at best exaggerated..too many people feel the need to be important with their supposed ITK comments ..again often utter BS..They feed off people's desire to have to know everything now.

I'm still very hopeful our club will survive, I'm very sure we are staying up as long as we don't lose more players, that helps ease my mind.

I ignored all news for 2 days this week..because in that way I wouldn't know if they had forced the sales of Lawrence and Festy..it has worked so far.

And if it all gets too much I treat myself to a couple of days off and go off piste snowboarding..for me that is my ultimate relaxation..

I have a new job and a precious toddler! So fortunately, I haven't had time to get dragged into the blow by blow detail.

I reassure myself in the knowledge that DCFC were here long before I was born and expect them to be here long after I'm gone. 'This too shall pass', as they say.

It's in nobody's (not EFL, Boro, WW or even the Trees') interest to see us disappear and I genuinely don't think it will happen.

I'm looking forward to it being over so we can get excited about the highly unlikely possibility of our relegation survival and rebirth.

Champions League in 5 years... That's where the smart money is!
