Oh dear .......here we go !!

Re the Barnsley claim, here's an excellent quote from the Reading Forum which sums up an endearing and admirable faith in the EFL being a competent and even-handed moderator and custodian of the game.

"Would imagine this is a bit of a fishing trip - don't see how this can be possible if we've been working with EFL on the business plan. They must've signed everything off."

You'd like to think so eh ?

I think this one sums up the consequences of the EFL's woeful handling of our situation'

"This is what the Championship will turn into for the next few years now. Just clubs throwing cases to the EFL due to this, that and the other.

Also, wasn't this a business model that was mutually agreed between both the club and the EFL? I don't really see where Barnsley's argument comes from other than, "they've got better facilities than what we have, let's put a claim in".

Many clubs have been and are operating with business models that are not compatible with P&S rules, so we can't be the only ones they should be complaining about. Bristol City, Stoke and Middlesbrough should also be on that list as well."

And these two from the Barnsley guys:

"EFL have set a precedent by forcing Derby's admins to reach an agreement with Boro and Wycombe."

"Is this is what it has come to that we have to just try and grass teams up to EFL to stay up."

Oh fair enough. Apologies, I wrongly assumed you meant signing new players. But yes, we should in my opinion be allowed to extend contracts of current players, it’s vital as part of our ability to trade.

We have enough loot to see the season out, 2 scenarios, PB comes in takes us over and we move forward, or no buyer and we're liquidated...in that case why would players sign when they don't know what the MFer is going off?‍♂️

Well jags was happy to renew his contract rather than go to stoke. And kellyman wanted to stay.

The article says a further points deduction would be applied next season if Reading fail to comply with the agreed business plan but the Barnsley chairman is saying "Barnsley are at a competitive disadvantage NOW".

Does that mean Barnsley know the details of the agreed plan and also know that Reading are failing to comply?

If they don't know then there is no case to answer at the moment but there could well be a Wycombe scenario (although they'd have a more valid case given the offence actually happened this season) next season now the EFL have allowed the can of worms to be opened.

If it is true Reading are not complying then I'm not sure why the additional points deduction shouldn't be applied immediately.

that could help us if Reading get another points deduction. Come on Barnsley go for it !

or do Barnsley just want some cash in hand (like Boro and WW did)

The EFL will not further punish Reading as that would give us an advantage in the relegation battle.

They have been clear throughout the process that they want to see Derby in League 1.

Not sure if Barnsley even have a case, tired of all this off the field stuff now to look into.

This won't be the last. EFL, Gibson and Couhig have ruined football outside the PL.

The main thing putting Barnsley at a competitive disadvantage is that they are absolutely awful at football. Their claim has no more merit than Wycombe or Boro against us, but the EFL are reaping what they sow here.

Either they make Reading and Barnsley figure something out and the cycle continues, or they dismiss it and make it clear that it's one rule for Derby and another for everyone else.
