Very interesting to hear the EFL’s perspective on Derby County from The Athletic’s @Elias Burke #dcfc #dcfcfans

Actions speak louder than words and the EFL have shown in recent years that they don't give a damn if club goes under.

Maybe the EFL should focus on creating a level playing field Championship..not a stacked love-in for parachute payments clubs..

I’m not sure EFL like the parachute payments at all TBF. Should be a priority to change for sure as in the post COVID world it where the bust and nearly bust champ clubs have finished cutting their cloth the budget disparity to the yo-yo brigade will be even more stark.

Agree but up until now they have done nothing at all to correct it yet act amazed and surprised when teams push the boundaries to try and compete..

Blackstone Chambers article "The Perilous State Of EFL Club Finances: A Review Of The Derby County And Sheffield Wednesday Cases", provides an excellent review of the vexations of the efl.

It reviews what's wrong with the efl but it misses the unfairness of the parachute payments for the clubs relegated from the Premier league.

That relegated clubs can spend what they want to be promoted again.

I should, in all honesty, be receptive to alternative views. An open mind is a good thing. Partisanship is by definition, one eyed.

Yet where is the honesty and open mindedness from the EFL that has a fixed, slanted playing field via parachute payments and then whips none parachute clubs for daring to challenge. ? Their “perspective”  is worthless while the double standards persist.

They are complicit with the premier league in running a bent competition in the championship while trumpeting their own supposed moral superiority - which is baseless.

Jobsworths, pompous, self important, self promoting, illogical, biased and about as useful as the famed one legged man at a but kicking party with a big fat zero in the integrity stakes.

Like I said in another thread - you get some clubs that get promoted and try to survive in year 1 buying very expensive players on ridiculous contracts, or you play the Burnley now Norwich model - get promoted - fail and pocket £140m in year 1 then get promoted again - fail as you dont invest in the Prem - fail and pocket £140m in year 1 - rinse/repeat until you decide you have enough banked to invest while in the Prem to survive.

And the thing is 140 million is 5 years of income for a reasonably sized championship club .. so guys .. your bonus this year is 5 x salary .. What ! … hey and your competitors will get points deductions if Granddad gives them a bit of extra pocket money.

parachute clubs ..  get a nice new iPhone while the rest of us are on land lines and if someone sneaks in a 1989 Motorola Brick to use after lights out, they’ll get a kick in the teeth for not playing fair

Im sure a solution could be found if anyone cared..the clubs would still get the money as they received it as terms of premier league promotion/relegation, but they should then be held to same restraints as all other championship clubs from an annual budget perspective - maybe transfer embargo year 1 etc. etc. not saying this is the answer but there has to be an answer to stop the Championship becoming a bigger joke than it already is..
