In all seriousness, Bassini will never take them over. It will all fall apart when the money needs transferring. He's like Kirchner, but if Kirchner was a character from a Carry On film.

The thing is, he'd not even need to actually purchase the club to cause bother for them. He just needs to convince himself that he should be buying them. Look at his actions with Bolton, which held up a legitimate sale for far longer than was necessary.

Why, what was his role in Joinersgate?

It was reported by the Daily Mail at the time that, in addition to the Lawrence, Keogh and Bennett, there was also an 18-year old involved, but seeing as he wasn't driving himself and because of his age at the time, it was kept rather quiet

While that article does not mention what player it was, Buchanan was one of the only players we had at the time that fit the details given in that article (18, academy player, handful of first team appearances) and was pictured late in the evening with the players that stayed out late. As such, it's an assumption that he was the player referenced, but it must be said that, as far as I'm aware at least, this has never been categorically confirmed.

That’s because action was taken against the wrong individual.

The committee actually ruled that no act of gross misconduct had been committed. If the club sacked the others involved, there's a decent chance it would have resulted in payouts to all 3 (or 4) of them.

This was comedy gold. If someone had told me that this was in fact a comedian that had called up and convinced Talksport that they were actually Bassini I'd believe them.

Normally, I'd be concerned for the club in question, but as it's BCFC I'll just grab some popcorn and pull up a chair.

It was still believable when he said that Tyson Fury's training him to beat up Simon Jordan and that Simon Jordan killed someone, but when he said Birmingham City are going to win the league, that's just too ridiculous to be anything but a wind-up merchant.

  5. I don't know if Marco is Buchanan's agent. The Derby Telegraph said that Quantum Sport is run by Marco, but he's no longer a director of Quantum Sport, having left that role in 2020.

He's still listed on the company website as a "consultant", but whether or not he was directly involved in this Buchanan situation or just happens to work for the same company as Buchanan's agent isn't clear.

Think it's harsh to pile in on him without a more solid link.

  6. Funnily enough, not the only bit of legal drama that Werder Bremen have landed themselves in in the last couple of days. Just saw this niche bit of news: Austrian right populist party Freedom Party of Austria threatening Werder Bremen with legal action for calling them "Nazis" on their social media channel, as they were holding a conference next to Werder Bremen's Austrian training camp.

    Yep, spot on.

Just run it past my wife who is an HR Director, and she unfortunately reckons Derby don’t really have a case under TUPE.

How would player registrations come into the equation, though? Would it be possible that the situation that Derby and the EFL are arguing is that, while Buchanan has the right to refuse to transfer his contract to a new employer, his registration as a player is still Derby's until the end of this year, and as such we should be compensated for the transfer of that registration by any club he moves to in that time? Seems like a very sticky legal minefield, I must say, and one that is fairly unique to football.

He’s ok but I don’t see the quality and seems nowhere near as good as West Ham man Rice

Still think that on paper it's a good deal for City for £45m. Worst situation is he's naff for them but they still get £30m back by flogging him to Everton or someone.
