An Indonesian consortium have been trying to buy Oxford recently:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/03/19/ex-inter-milan-owner-involved-oxford-united-consortium-takeover/amp/

The article includes references to the Indonesian Olympic Committee (of which Raja Sapta Oktohari is a member) and the former owner of Inter Milan & DC United from when Rooney was at DC United.

I wonder if these stories are linked? ?

When I was looking up Alonso earlier, I did see a couple of articles mentioning that he had links with DC United, I'll see if I can find one of them again

It was in an article in the Athletic from the tail-end of last year
    https://theathletic.co.uk/2290456/2020/12/30/sheffield-wednesday-pulis-sacked/

"Alonso, who has links to MLS outfit DC United, and his associates have been brought on board to assist with a range of matters including recruitment and youth development with the goal of restoring Wednesday’s status as a top-flight side. The Spaniard has experience in the football industry and counts Max Gradel, Emre Mor and Gonzalo Escalante among his clients. He is also the owner of Indonesian top-flight side Bali United."

Kieran Maguire was just on Radio Derby and mentioned the name Raja Sapta Oktohari as being the money man behind this. Where KM got that information from I don't know as he normally knows the square root of sod all.

Did he mention another Indonesian bloke before that, a politician with links to the mining industry? I was only half listening because I wasn't expecting Maguire to provide exclusive information.

Seen stuff saying he has people like luis Figo on his books? Any reports on this?

Listed as a client of No Limits Sports Agency on Transfermarkt, alongside some other recognisable names (Ruben Sosa, Roberto Carlos, Youri Djorkaeff, Mark Bowen, Jon Flanagan), though it should be noted that Transfermarkt does occasionally have mistakes on it

Would you care to share a bit more of you insider knowledge with the rest of us? or are you just speculating and working yourself into a tizzy with absolutely no idea what you're talking about?

The "Indonesian backers" theory is based on the fact that last year it was reported that he'd approached Sheffield Wednesday backed by an Indonesian consortium. It's possible, but not confirmed, that the takeover here involves the same group.

Considering Vox run on outright anti-Islam platforms and we have players and fans who are Muslim or have families that are Muslim, It becomes a bit of a problem imo.

I don't entirely disagree with you on this, but just to put forward another side to this argument: there's a lot to suggest Alonso either lives or has lived in Indonesia, a country with an over 85% Muslim populace, and some have also suggested that Alonso could be fronting a group of Indonesian backers, who, chances are, would be Muslim themselves. Would it be possible that Alonso's position is either less hardline than the Vox party line, or that he doesn't hold those beliefs with particular vigour?

I don't know the answer to this, by the way, I'm just trying to understand why someone involved in an anti-Islamic party could have such close connections to the country with the largest population of Muslims in the world living in it.

A big 3 games ahead, we only need to get 3 points from those games. One win, surely we can do that.

We should then be looking to get at least 4 points from Birmingham or Sheff Wednesday at home. Swansea away we can kiss goodbye to any points there.

I wouldn't write off the Swansea game entirely. We've had a good recent record against them, having taken something off them the last seven times we've played them, and their form has started to stutter a bit. They've gone four games without a goal, and there always seems to be one team at the top that tanks at the end of every season.

  8. I've been so focused on the teams below us, that I'd not noticed the teams above us. Preston and Blackburn are both within 3 points of us as things stand (albeit, in Blackburn's case, with a vastly superior goal difference), and neither have been in particularly hot form as of late. Depending on how the next couple of games go for us and them (all against teams in the top eight), the two games at their grounds could prove to be six-pointers.
